Our Story of Gratitude

BHAWK, short for Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko., marks the foundation for Brad Halling’s personal life story of Gratitude and recognizes the extraordinary men he served with in the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu.  After surviving the battle, later memorialized by Hollywood in the movie Black Hawk Down, Brad was given a second chance at life. Now Brad’s vision is to honor the giants he walked amongst and to express Gratitude to all those who’ve served our Nation and our communities.

Joined by his wife, Jess, Brad is bringing his vision to life. After the Hallings’ combined 49 years in the U.S. Army serving alongside our Nation’s remarkable servicemembers, expressing Gratitude for Extraordinary Service through BHAWK and its premium brands is a second calling for Brad and Jess Halling.

The Founders

Both born and raised in the midwest, the Hallings have long called the Fort Bragg, North Carolina area their home. Active participants in veterans’ charities and long-time whiskey and wine enthusiasts, the Hallings purchased and began shaping 175 Yadkin Road, Southern Pines, North Carolina in early 2020 with a vision of creating two premium brands and an immersive distillery experience for whiskey lovers, local residents, tourists, and the surrounding military community. Brad and Jess invite you to Raise the American Spirit with them at the BHAWK distillery campus.

Sergeant’s Valor Gratitude is a tribute series of super-premium bourbons focused on honoring extraordinary service. the story behind each batch will be featured in our gratitude room, a living museum at the heart of the BHAWK distillery campus. as new batches honoring extraordinary service are introduced, the gratitude room’s living museum will update to reflect the story that inspires each tribute.

Batch one is “to the crew of Super 62,” honoring the special operations aviation crew who delivered brad from the battlefield on October 3, 1993.
