I'm going to try it right now. This is basically CVs pharmacy's gran legacy bourbon. But they respected it and made this cool looking bottle. Don't know how old she is but lemme get my bourbon glass
Eye. Nice color. Very deep amber for an eighty proof. Nose: strong alcohol smell. Rye content. Vanilla and maple odors. Barrel is hard to smell. Water brought out that maple strong and killed the alcohol nose. Palate: Yow with that alcohol. Barrel taste comes in quietly and gives way to some sweetness then the barrel is strong and charred for the coffee like finish. Summary. Tastes like high rye content. Tastes as young as thirty six months. Something not "finished about it"
As a fan and ambassador of makers mark, o will say J.T. Boots isn't a top quality bourbon. I do find it sweeter than Evan Williams. It lacks a certain palatability that your fond with better bourbons like makers or woodford. I will also say its not the worst I've ever had. Remember folks there are "well" bourbons served in bars such as beam 5star and early times.
Taste is subjective...but I really like it with a bit of ice and water. I will choose it among any ~ $9.00 750 ml. 80 proof whiskey. But I have a new "love" every, say, 140 days... Ricardoks
pretty good bourbon for 9 bucks. no lingering aftertaste.....good with some ice and coca cola.....not something you sip over ice.It tastes good as a well bourbon
Surprisingly good straight up for the price. Bought on a whim (how good can this dreck possibly be?) thinking if nothing else would make a mixer. Lacks the complexity of EWB but is sweeter and smoother. Will buy again...
Jethro T Boots was a man amongst boys, and was considered a hero in many eyes. I am honored to be a long lost relative of T boots and he will forever be honored. Pour one out for JETHRO this weekend. I'll be drinking Jethro until i collapse.
Strong alcohol nose, bites the throat a little, but sweet and light on the tongue. Not complicated at all. Not sure I'd get it again unless destitute, but I won't consider the $9 wasted.
I moved to Los Angeles from Louisville, Ky about 8 months ago. big bourbon fan.... I saw this product on the shelf and was a little bit hesitant about the price. Until I saw that it was made, aged, and bottled in Louisville, my home town... so i said F it! Haha. Some of the best mid-ranged bourbons ive ever tried! It is so smooth and tasteful, its crazy.... 40 proof obviously. Im buying this liquor till they go out of business! Which hopefully is never. Haha
If rot-gut wasn't illegal these days, this stuff would be it. As it is, I'd still be tempted to stick it back in wood and finish it, if the barrel was close at hand. Nice background. Give it another year or two and it'd be more mature than some people I know. If you need whiskey, it's whiskey.
I found JT Boots at a CVS in Phoenix recently while on vacation. Had I been driving I would have bought several cases. Yes, high-end liquor is nice, Jameson Black label and Walker double-black are on my shelf, but Boots is a new favourite.

Just tried this tonight, only eleven bucks for the bottle. It's okay, the burn at the end is kinda nice, but beyond that flavor is very light, a little honey but it's hard to taste. There's not much there there in terms of flavor if you know what I mean which is odd because bourbon usually has something to talk about. Ultimately it's drinkable and passable, but I doubt I will be itching to get it again.
The stuff is decent,I don't like Crown cause it tastes like cough drop, lol, and I had some balvenie as well taste like vanilla hint, its not about brand name versus the other,I just won't drink McCormick..lol

Thanks for the comment, Travis.
ReplyDeleteAwful the kick is weak and the aftertaste is even worse Evan williams is a hundred times better and only a dollar more
ReplyDeleteRight, awful. And the buzz later was unpleasant, something is in there that ain't good to drink. Staying away from this one.
DeleteNot too bad...cool bottle...you get what you pay for. Comparable to other lower rate bourbons...
