50 Years Of Craft Comes To Life With The Glenlivet Winchester Collection

imageNEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2014 Today marks the inaugural release of The Winchester Collection: The Glenlivet's first series of rare and precious 50 year old single malt Scotch whiskies. "Vintage 1964" is the first release from this precious collection, anticipated to become one of the most sought after and priceless whisky collections to be released.

"The release of The Winchester Collection sets a new standard in the single malt category of Scotch whiskies. We are excited to share this unparalleled spirit with whisky lovers and collectors alike," said Wayne Hartunian, Vice President, Scotches & Cognac at Pernod Ricard USA. "Vintage 1964, the product of 50 years of craftsmanship, allows us to tell a new chapter in The Glenlivet's rich history."

This October, the first bottle of Vintage 1964 – Bottle No. 1 – from The Glenlivet Winchester Collection will go on sale at Harrods in theUnited Kingdom. Just 100 bottles of this remarkable Speyside single malt, priced at $25,000 each, will go on sale around the world in limited distribution. An undisclosed number of further releases from The Winchester Collection will then follow, with "Vintage 1966" confirmed to be next in line.

Befitting its price tag, no expense or attention to craftsmanship has been spared in creating the perfect vessel to house it, with every element hand-crafted by artisans from the British Isles, from hand-blown glass, to the inclusion of precious materials such as rose gold and 'Cairngorm Stone'. The spirit inside lays claim to 50 years of unrivalled knowledge, unwavering care and unfaltering craft, which started when decorated war hero, Captain Bill Smith-Grant, the last remaining descendent of The Glenlivet distillery's founder, George Smith – laid down a specially selected cask in 1964. Carefully guarded and cared for by generations of The Glenlivet Master Distillers, this special cask was identified early on as being destined for greater things and has since been slowly and steadily developing the signature flavors that make The Glenlivet an enduring benchmark of quality.

Under the care and guidance of current Master Distiller, Alan Winchester – from whom the collection takes its name – that Vintage 1964 has been deemed ready to be enjoyed by only the most ardent and discerning of single malt connoisseurs.

"This release marks a milestone for The Glenlivet. Casks of this age and quality are such a rare thing these days that I'm immensely proud to introduce the first of these rare vintages of preserved stocks from the distillery's rich past," said Winchester. "They're a testament to our legacy of quality and to those who have nurtured this whisky over the years, including Captain Bill Smith-Grant, who played such a pivotal role introducing our single malt to the world."

The Glenlivet Winchester Collection is available for private purchase. The next release from the collection will be Vintage 1966, the launch date of which has yet to be announced. Customers can join The Guardians of The Glenlivet program to find out more information. Visit www.theglenlivet.com/guardians.

"We were thrilled with the response from our fans to share their statements and be a part of our craft-making process."."

Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey toasts the opening of the Tullamore Distillery

image

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2014- Tullamore D.E.W., the world's second largest Irish whiskey today celebrated the opening of its new $50 million distillery in its hometown of Tullamore in the Irish midlands.  As the first spirit flowed from the stills, to the cheers of hundreds of invited guests, the milestone marked the return of whiskey production to the town, 60 years after the original distillery closed its doors.

"This is a true 'Parting Glass' moment for Tullamore D.E.W., as we raise a glass to celebrate the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our 185 year history," said Tullamore D.E.W. Senior Brand Manager Cindy Wang.  "Irish whiskey is the fastest growing spirits category in the world right now and our new distillery will enable us to meet our production needs over the coming decades."

The new distillery marks a particularly exciting moment for the U.S. market as Irish whiskey continues to be the fastest growing spirit domestically with over 18% growth in the past three years. Under the guidance of the independent family-owned distiller William Grant & Sons, Tullamore D.E.W. grew over 20.6% in 2013 alone. Stateside, the brand will be celebrating the opening with a commemorative event in New York City, complete with a barrel signing led by Patrick Williams, great-grandson of Tullamore D.E.W. founder, Daniel E. Williams. The adorned barrel will be shipped back to Tullamore where it will then be filled and laid to rest to age in the new distillery alongside a similar barrel signed at the Tullamore celebration.

"This new distillery brings Tullamore D.E.W. back to its origins. We are incredibly proud of the Tullamore Distillery and know that its opening has been awaited with great anticipation.  We look forward to building on our success to date and helping new fans all around the world discover the magic of Tullamore D.E.W." said Tim Herlihy, Tullamore D.E.W. National Brand Ambassador.

To commemorate the rising of the distillery, Tullamore D.E.W. unveiled the very limited release of 2014 bottles of Tullamore D.E.W. Celebratory Phoenix Single Batch, an exclusive expression of the Tullamore D.E.W. Phoenix range.  The Phoenix is a highly appropriate symbol for the town of Tullamore and Tullamore D.E.W. It is featured on the town's coat of arms honoring the courageous rebuilding after it was largely destroyed by fire following a devastating hot air balloon accident in 1785 and is a symbol of resilience, optimism and progress; attributes that have led to the opening of Tullamore Distillery.

The Tullamore Distillery features four hand crafted copper stills, designed to resemble the original stills from the old distillery; six brew house fermenters each with a 34,000 liter capacity; and warehouse storage for 100,000 casks.  Tullamore Distillery draws the finest natural Irish water from the nearby Slieve Bloom Mountains and will be capable of producing the equivalent of 1.5 million cases of Tullamore D.E.W. annually.

About Tullamore D.E.W.
Tullamore D.E.W. is the second largest Irish whiskey in the world in the fastest growing category. It has been widely acclaimed by whiskey connoisseurs, most recently winning a Gold Medal at the 2014 International Spirits Challenge for Tullamore D.E.W. Original. Additionally Tullamore D.E.W. 10 Year Single Malt won the Chairman's Trophy (highest award) for best Single Malt Irish Whiskey at the 2013 Ultimate Spirits Competition and Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve won the Double Gold Medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

With an intriguing smooth yet complex character, Tullamore D.E.W. is triple distilled, but is also a unique blend of all three types of Irish whiskeys; the pot still, malt and grain whiskeys. As a result, Tullamore D.E.W. is three times smoother with an added gentle complexity. Tullamore D.E.W. was the first and remains one of the few international Irish whiskey to pioneer this blend of three.

Created in 1829, the brand's strong heritage started in Tullamore, a town in the heart of Ireland, and was fostered by the vision of an early founder Daniel E. Williams, whose initials live on the bottle to this day. True to its heritage, a new distillery is now being built in the town of Tullamore to bringing Tullamore D.E.W. back to its roots.

Tullamore D.E.W. is best enjoyed to taste, but we recommend neat, on the rocks or served long with ginger beer, fresh lime juice and a dash of bitters in a Tullamore Irish Mule.

Jim Beam® Unveils Latest Expressions Of Ultra-Premium Jim Beam® Signature Craft Innovations

image

DEERFIELD, Ill., Sept. 2, 2014 Today, Jim Beam®, the world's No. 1 bourbon, announces the release of two rare, ultra-premium expressions as part of its Jim Beam® Signature Craft line – Jim Beam® Signature Craft Quarter Cask and Jim Beam® Harvest Bourbon Collection. The Jim Beam Signature Craft line is a series of innovative, limited released, small batch bourbons that showcases some of the finest hand-crafted and rare liquids to come from the Jim Beam distillery.

"With the newest batch expressions in our ultra-premium line of craft products, we are honoring traditions of the past while charting new waters for bourbon distilling," said Fred Noe, Jim Beam's 7th Generation Master Distiller. "I'm very proud of these new expressions and am eager to continue experimenting and innovating in search of future batches for the Jim Beam Signature Craft line."

Jim Beam® Signature Craft Quarter Cask

Jim Beam Signature Craft Quarter Cask is the third edition from the Jim Beam Signature Craft line and second limited-edition expression. This full-bodied Kentucky Straight Bourbon is bottled at 86 proof, starts with premium Jim Beam Bourbon aged at least five years and is finished with a variety of fine quarter cask bourbons, and all aged at least four years in smaller barrels. By building on a base of mature liquid and finishing it with quarter cask aged liquid, the inspired distillers at Jim Beam were able to craft just the right balance of rich vanillas of a mature bourbon profile and the extra oak notes of the quarter cask bourbon.

Perfect for whiskey drinkers who enjoy trying unique expressions, this bourbon is an excellent addition to the Jim Beam Signature Craft family. Jim Beam Signature Craft Quarter Cask joins Jim Beam Signature Craft 12-Year, the permanent expression in the line, which was released in September 2013.

Jim Beam Signature Craft Quarter Cask is now available in select bars and retailers nationwide and has a suggested retail price of$39.99 for 750mL.

Jim Beam® Signature Craft Harvest Bourbon Collection™

In 2003, a group of daring distillers at Jim Beam thought "outside the barrel" and experimented with a variety of obscure grains and non-traditional recipes and ultimately settled on a range of harvest grains such as Brown Rice and Soft Red Wheat (among others) to complement the majority grain of corn. These innovative distillers, many of whom have since currently retired, distilled a handful of liquids and laid them down in rackhouses to rest, untouched, for years…until now. More than a decade later, Fred Noe discovered these lost barrels and gave them a taste; and while a few batches from the lot did not make the cut, he was delighted to find six delicious bourbons, ready to be bottled and released.

Jim Beam Harvest Bourbon Collection is a series of six hand-crafted bourbons that celebrate the distinctive tastes imparted by the distillation of different grains. More than 11 years of aging have brought out the nuances of these unique ingredients to create some of the rarest, most unique whiskey expressions to ever leave a Jim Beam rackhouse.

The first two grain representations – Soft Red Wheat and Brown Rice – are being released in extremely small quantities beginning today. The four remaining expressions – Whole Rolled Oat, Triticale, High Rye and Six Row Barley – will be released with limited quantity throughout 2015.

Jim Beam® Signature Craft Soft Red Wheat Bourbon

  • Bottled at 90 proof, Jim Beam Signature Craft Soft Red Wheat is a light-bodied and very approachable bourbon that has been aged for 11 years
  • The finest Soft Red Wheat from Kentucky and Indiana gives this bourbon a gentle spice with a slight, light brown sugar sweetness and a light-bodied finish that is best enjoyed straight (neat or on-the-rocks)
  • Jim Beam Signature Craft Soft Red Wheat has a slight and soft aroma with mild oak notes, and has a range of color from golden honey to amber

Jim Beam® Signature Craft Brown Rice Bourbon

  • Also bottled at 90 proof, Jim Beam Signature Craft Brown Rice is a full-bodied bourbon that has lasting flavor from its 11 years of aging
  • This bourbon contains a taste of toasted grain with sweet oak and rich vanilla flavors and is best enjoyed straight (neat or on-the-rocks)
  • Jim Beam Signature Craft Brown Rice has an aroma with notes of sweet potato and brown sugar with a slight oaky spice and a deep, rich amber color

Jim Beam Signature Craft Soft Red Wheat and Brown Rice are now available in select bars and retailers nationwide and have a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 375mL
