Production and Scale

  • "The Giant": Known by this nickname due to its massive annual production capacity of approximately 21 million liters.
  • Water Source: Every drop of Glenfiddich is made using water from the Robbie Dhu Spring, which flows near the distillery.
  • Traditional Methods: Despite its size, Glenfiddich maintains an on-site cooperage to build and repair its own casks and employs its own team of coppersmiths to maintain its 43 uniquely shaped copper pot stills.
  • Marrying Process: Glenfiddich is the only single malt that still "marries" its whiskies in large oak marrying tuns for up to nine months to ensure a consistent flavor profile.

Core Range and Notable Expressions

  • Glenfiddich 12 Year Old: The signature "Our Original Twelve" is matured in American and European oak casks, known for a fresh, fruity profile with notes of pear and honey.
  • Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve: Finished in charred new American oak barrels, it bridges the gap between Scotch and bourbon with flavors of toffee and vanilla.
  • Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Reserve: Created using an innovative Solera Vat (inspired by sherry production) that is never fully emptied, resulting in a rich, spicy, and complex character.
  • Glenfiddich 18 Year Old: A more refined expression married in small batches, offering deeper notes of dried fruit and baked apple.
  • Experimental Series: Includes unique releases like the IPA Cask Finish (finished in craft beer casks) and Winter Storm (finished in French oak ice wine casks).

- Trailblazing offering bridges physical and digital marketplace, enabling consumers to directly purchase, authenticate, and redeem a limited edition Glenfiddich 1973 46 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky finished for 21 years in an Armagnac cask

MIAMI, Oct. 13, 2021 Glenfiddich, the world's most awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky brand, has partnered with BlockBar, the premier non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace for luxury wine and spirits products, to launch a series of 15 limited edition liquor NFTs. Each NFT corresponds to a physical, exceptional bottle of a 1973 46 year old Armagnac cask finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky that is sold by Glenfiddich.

The tokens are offered exclusively through BlockBar's innovative NFT platform, which enables Glenfiddich to digitize and sell exclusive spirits products as NFTs directly to consumers, whether for personal consumption, collecting, or investment purposes. Upon purchasing the NFT, the buyer can then become the owner of the real-world physical product represented by the NFT, with the NFT serving as a digital receipt that verifies the buyer's ownership and the authenticity of the product. The buyer has the choice at any time to resell or transfer the NFT through the BlockBar platform or to redeem it for the physical version. The benefits of purchase doesn't stop there; BlockBar is also responsible for storing the product and, upon request, delivering it to the buyer.

William Grant & Sons, Chief Commercial Officer, Doug Bagley comments on the partnership, "Glenfiddich continues to push boundaries in whisky innovation and this mindset transcends to those we partner with. We are proud to be the first luxury spirits brand to be available on BlockBar at the time of the launch. BlockBar brings a heightened level of authenticity to our brand via its proprietary NFT platform and creates an elite club of distinguished collectors with whom we're excited to build long-term relationships."

Utilizing BlockBar's state-of-the-art NFT platform to purchase Glenfiddich's whisky, buyers can be assured that their accounts won't be compromised and their NFT's won't be stolen, because the tokens are protected by FireBlocks' digital asset custody infrastructure and Chainalysis' compliance technology.

"This is an exceptionally rare example of 1973 Glenfiddich, a 46 year old whisky which has spent more than two decades in an Armagnac cask and is a fitting spirit for the launch of Glenfiddich's first and exclusive NFT release on BlockBar," comments Glenfiddich Malt Master, Brian Kinsman.

The first series of Glenfiddich NFTs will launch on October 19, 2021, on a first come, first served basis. Buyers may purchase the NFTs from BlockBar with Ethereum (ETH) or by credit card.

"BlockBar values transparency, authenticity, and quality assurance, and our partnership with Glenfiddich, the pinnacle of high end spirits, is the perfect partner to mark the launch of our mission to bridge the physical and digital worlds of luxury," said Dov Falic, CEO of BlockBar. "We're extremely proud to be providing the very first direct-to-consumer, fully authenticated wine & spirits platform via an NFT marketplace. This is an exciting and momentous time for the crypto, NFT, and luxury wine & spirits communities, and we can't wait to announce many more exclusive releases in the near future."

About Glenfiddich
Family run since 1887, Glenfiddich is the World's Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky. In the summer of 1886 our founder, William Grant, set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition of creating the 'best dram in the valley'. Now, over 130 years later, Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family owned and our whisky has become the world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, a true reflection of the passion, integrity and innovative spirit that have been passed down through the generations.

Glenfiddich, Daniel Marshall & Davidoff Commemorate Sir Winston Churchill's Birthday with Churchill’s Granddaughter

imageLOS ANGELES, CA JANUARY 16, 2017

--

It was an exquisite and memorable evening in London as Daniel Marshall collaborated with other family owned businesses to commemorate Sir Winston Churchill’s birthday. Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Churchill, was in attendance and provided a stunning tribute to her famous grandfather in a private dining room at the Jumeriah Carlton Tower in Belgravia.

Sandys, a notable expert on the life and history of her grandfather, shared intimate stories of his life, travels, philosophy and challenges faced by the luminous legend and leader. She highlighted what Sir Winston was doing and where on each significant birthday from his birth to his death at 90 years old. She held us spellbound with interesting stories relating to his life-long love for whisky and cigars as we sipped some of the world's finest Glenfiddich Single Malts and savored his Namesake Cigar. She told us, "When I was a little girl, I would ask my Grandfather for the cigar bands from the cigars he was enjoying to use as rings that I proudly wore on my fingers."

“My Grandfather never went out without his cigar, even when flying with the Royal Air Force where he modified his mask to allow for his cigar.”

“Every Birthday and Christmas, my mother and I would go to the cigar merchant and buy my Grandfather a cigar as his gift. His 90th Birthday was no exception; we gave him his cigar which he enjoyed with his whisky and champagne.”

image

"When my Grandfather escaped from prison in South Africa, he made sure he had the bottle of whisky next to him, as he was smuggled out of prison in a wheelbarrow. The whisky very likely was one of your brands," as she spoke to Kirsten Grant, the Great-Great Granddaughter of Glenfiddich’s founder, "which was smuggled into his prison cell in a basket of fruit." Sandys continued, "When I came of age to taste cigars, I enjoyed the smaller size cigars."

Those in attendance heard a firsthand story about a famous Churchill portrait. Sandys asked the group, "Do you know how the photographer Yousuf Karsh was able to capture the famous portrait of my Grandfather that hangs in the National Portrait Gallery? As Karsh readied the equipment, but just before taking the picture, he placed an ashtray in front of Churchill, asking that the Prime Minister remove the cigar from his mouth. Churchill obstinately refused, and Karsh was perplexed; the smoke from the cigar would certainly obscure the image. He returned to the camera, ready to take the picture—but then with lightning speed, Karsh leaned over the camera and plucked it from Churchill’s lips. ‘He looked so belligerent, he could have devoured me,’ Karsh would remember later, and it’s that renown Churchill belligerence and independence that is a hallmark in the famous photograph—a scowl over the pilfered cigar that came to represent, seemingly, a fierce glare as if confronting the enemy. This was the day that Sir Winston lost his cigar!”

The special event hosted by Glenfiddich, Marshall and Davidoff brought together three family owned companies that share a common commitment to quality. The evening’s events included a fabulous collection of Glenfiddich Whisky’s, a Daniel Marshall special three-tier “Whisky Tasting Cigar" designed to pair with 12, 18 and 21 Year Old Glenfiddich. Marshall partnered with 5th generation master blenders and cigar creators Manuel Quesada and Nestor Plasencia to develop the Whisky Tasting Cigar that features three different blends of tobacco and kinds of wrapper leaf.

image

Following the Whisky Tasting Cigar the guests savored three vitolas from Davidoff; the Davidoff Winston Churchill Petit Corona, Robusto, and Toro cigars. Marshall commented, “I am confident Sir Winston would have greatly appreciated the 'Cigars of Character' that Davidoff has created with his namesake Davidoff Winston Churchill Cigar Collection for the world to remember his leadership, courage and relentless passion for the best of the best.” Those in attendance were treated to delightful pairings of these cigars alongside 18, 21 and 30-year vintage Glenfiddich whisky.

Davidoff’s participation holds a special personal meaning to Marshall. “Since 1911, Davidoff has the vision and commitment to carry the legend, passion and lifestyle of fine cigars to the highest level of quality,” said Marshall. “Davidoff represents the absolute best and embodies all of the reasons why we love cigars. Their stores, lounges, and fabulous team worldwide are stellar. I believe we share a common vision with an obsessive commitment to excellence and the extraordinary.”

Marshall and William Grant & Sons, the owners of Glenfiddich have partnered on a host of other events and projects including the Daniel Marshall Whisky Stave Humidor created from the finishing port pipe casks of 21 Year Balvenie Portwood. In addition, the initial launch of the special three-part Daniel Marshall Whisky Tasting Cigar for Glenfiddich was celebrated with Glenfiddch earlier last year in London and Lebanon, Beirut.

Guests in attendance included:

Kirsten Grant, Great-Great Granddaughter of founder William Grant whose family owns and operates Glenfiddich and Balvenie Whisky brands as well as many of the worlds most awarded and loved premium sprits.

Edward and Eddie Sahakian, Davidoff of London and the Sahakian Cigar Lounge at the Bulgari Hotel, London

Mark Thomson, Glenfiddich UK Brand Ambassador

Sambrooke Spurrier, Prestige Business Development Executive William Grant & Sons UK Ltd

Sir Colin Hampden-White, Renowned Photographer

Ms. Sandys completed her tribute to her famous grandfather in a private dining room at the Jumeriah Carleton Tower, London that became so quiet as we hung on every word as she recited this special poem which was written by Sir Winston's friend, Duff Cooper. The poem summed up how the British people, despite voting him out of office after the war, felt about him after the war, and many people in Europe and America that felt the same:

'When ears were deaf and tongues were mute
You told of doom to come;
When others fingered on the flute
You thundered on the drum;
When armies marched and cities burned and all you said came true,
Those who have mocked your warnings turned almost too late to you;
When doubt gave way to firm belief and through five cruel years,
You gave us glory in our grief and laughter through our tears;
When final honours are bestowed and last accounts are done,
Then shall we know how much was owed by all the world to one.'

Glenfiddich Announces India Pale Ale Cask Finish

imageFrom Glenfiddich:

Rewriting the Whisky Rulebook: Glenfiddich Launches The Experiment Series

New Range Debuts with India Pale Ale Cask, the First-Ever IPA-Finished Single Malt Scotch.

Glenfiddich, the world's most awarded and best-selling single malt Scotch whisky – announces the U.S. launch of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series, a new range of single malts that combines the brand’s passion for pushing Scotch whisky boundaries and collaborating with trailblazers beyond the world of whisky. Today sees the unveiling of the first release from the series: the Glenfiddich India Pale Ale Cask Finish, the world’s first single malt Scotch whisky finished in IPA craft beer casks.

Glenfiddich Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, created the Glenfiddich India Pale Ale Cask Finish in collaboration with a local Speyside craft brewer who shares a passion for innovative flavors. The duo worked together to pioneer a new single malt Scotch whisky imbued with zesty citrus and tangy hops from the oak casks that had previously held a bold Speyside IPA custom brewed for Glenfiddich.

To pioneer a brand new malt, the collaborators first had to design and create a new IPA craft beer that would go into whisky casks, which would later be used to finish the first variant of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series. The intensive experimental process involved creating three separate brews of different strengths and levels of hops. Kinsman seasoned up to nine American oak casks at a time with the IPA brews, varying the time the beer spent imparting character into the oak casks, before filling the casks back up with whisky to assess the flavor profiles.

Glenfiddich’s Malt Master, Brian Kinsman said: “The Experimental Series builds on Glenfiddich’s long tradition of innovation and takes us to new levels of experimentation in a way no distillery has ever done before. The idea to experiment with single malt and beer was quite unusual but one we were passionate about – we wanted to really play with the flavors to see what we could create. The result is a liquid with a zesty citrus note followed by soft, sweet vanilla and a hint of fresh hops. The innovative flavor comes from carefully hand-selecting the right malt whiskies to complement the extra hoppy notes.”

The Glenfiddich India Pale Ale Cask Finish (MSRP: $69.99 / 750ml) will be available nationally beginning October 2016 at luxury whisky retail stores and premium bars and hotels in the United States. “We’re excited to introduce Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series with the India Pale Ale Cask Finish to the U.S., a market whose whisky consumers are open to exploring new and unusual releases,” says Michael Giardina, U.S. Senior Brand Manager for Glenfiddich.

Created from partnerships and collaborations with like-minded innovators from a wide range of different industries, the Glenfiddich Experimental Series unlocks new whisky possibilities in the true spirit of experimentation. The Glenfiddich India Pale Ale Cask Finish is the first in the series, which will include a number of unexpected variants over time.

Rokkan "Rethinks Whisky" with New Campaign for Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old

imageNEW YORK, June 13, 2016 -- Rokkan (www.rokkan.com), a partner for brave change and Glenfiddich's Digital Agency of Record (AOR), has launched a new campaign for Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old, asking viewers to "Rethink Whisky." The digital campaign will be supported on social and streaming video through July.

Based on the idea that Scotch is the most misunderstood spirit, the "Rethink Whisky" campaign invites viewers to reexamine everything they think they know about Scotch. Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old is a premium single malt Scotch whisky with an unexpected profile. The spirit is matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon American Oak casks before it is then finished in deep charred new American Oak barrels by Glenfiddich's Malt Master, Brian Kinsman. The result is a smooth and complex whisky, combining woody spices with ripe summer fruit tones that has the heart of an American bourbon but the soul of a single malt Scotch whisky.

"Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old is bold, elegant and delicious, but it's also different from your traditional Scotch whisky," said Michael Giardina, Glenfiddich Senior Brand Manager. "We wanted this campaign to challenge stereotypes about single malt Scotch and introduce Glenfiddich to a new generation of whisky drinkers."

The "Rethink Whisky" campaign is comprised of four films ("Aunt Evie," "Scotch with Dad," "Pairings," and "Scotland, KY"), each with its own visual identity that echoes the different tones of Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old. These films, created by Rokkan and produced in partnership with DECON, will live on Glenfiddich.com, as well as on Glenfiddich social channels, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

In addition to creating the "Rethink Whisky" films, Rokkan also produced media banners to promote the campaign and updated the Glenfiddich website to house the campaign content. Additional support for the campaign will be executed via social engagement with #RethinkWhisky and select partners.

"It was important to reach future Scotch drinkers on digital platforms, because that is where they're spending the majority of their time," said John Noe, CEO & Co-Founder, Rokkan. "With rich cinematography and subtly humorous performances that reflect the beauty and character of Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old, the 'Rethink Whisky' films will make people excited to try something new."

This is Rokkan's first campaign for Glenfiddich, following the recent announcement of the agency's partnership with William Grant & Sons. In addition to working with the renowned Scottish distiller, Rokkan has continued to make a name for itself in the luxury category this year, with other new partnerships including Burberry, Cadillac, One&Only Resorts, and Veuve Clicquot.

Glenfiddich, The World's Most Awarded Single Malt Pays Tribute To The American Whiskey Industry With New 14 Year Old Release

imageNEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2015  Glenfiddich – the world's most awarded single malt Scotch whisky – releases a new expression to its permanent portfolio: Glenfiddich 14 Year Old.  Exclusive to the United States, the bourbon barrel reserve is a celebration of American spirit. It pays tribute to the shared history of American and Scotch whisk(e)y, and the American Oak ex-bourbon barrels that are the backbone of the single malt Scotch whisky industry.

Glenfiddich 14 Year Old uniquely delivers a bourbon heart with the soul of single malt.  Matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon American Oak casks, the whisky delivers beautifully complex flavors of woody spices combined with ripe summer fruit, resulting from the spirit's interaction with the casks. After waiting patiently for 14 years, Glenfiddich Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, finishes the whisky in deep charred new American Oak barrels supplied by The Kelvin Cooperage in Louisville, Kentucky. The result: a rich, sweet and vibrant single malt.

Kinsman comments: "American Oak casks have had a significant influence on single malt Scotch whisky maturation and the flavor profiles we find today.  By maturing this expression in bourbon casks we've created a beautifully intense flavor, reflective of the relentless passion we have for producing incredible single malts. With notes of fresh oak and velvety caramel, our 14 Year Old remains true to Glenfiddich's heritage of producing fruity and deeply flavored whis

kies and is the perfect marriage of bourbon sweetness and Scotch complexity."

Peter Gordon, Glenfiddich Company Director added: "As a family run company we're able to be bold and innovative with our whisky making – and the exclusive Glenfiddich 14 Year Old is a wonderful example of this. We cherish our independence as it gives us the freedom to work with people who share our values – such as The Kelvin Cooperage, which is itself a family run company – and continue to create innovative whiskies of exceptional depth, distinction and diversity of flavor."

Glenfiddich 14 Year Old is presented in a deep navy blue casing – inspired by the color of the Kentucky state flag – and is embossed with Glenfiddich's iconic gold stag. The packaging is a celebration of the two whisk(e)y worlds and pays homage to the American whiskey industry's contribution to single malt Scotch whisky. Glenfiddich 14 Year Old (43% ABV) is certified Kosher and will be available nationally this fall at luxury whisky retail stores and premium bars and hotels in the United States.  (MSRP: $49.99 / 750ml)

Malt Master Brian Kinsman's Tasting Insight:
