LAS VEGAS (December 2022) –The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, and The Underground speakeasy and distillery announce two new flavors of house-distilled corn whiskey moonshine: The Goodfella’s Vanilla Moonshine and a limited-edition holiday Peppermint Moonshine. Distilled in a custom-made copper pot still, the new selections join the Museum’s other notable moonshine varieties, including its Signature Moonshine which was named the 2020 International Whiskey Competition’s Best New Moonshine, the spicy yet sweet Cinn-City Moonshine and the gingery citrus blend of the Ginger Jake Moonshine.

Moonshine gained popularity during Prohibition in the 1920s due to its high alcohol content and short distillation process, but the potent spirit is still beloved today. No longer an underworld staple, The Mob Museum celebrates the tried and true traditions of the past as authentically and safely as possible while adding its own take.

Vanilla extract was legal during Prohibition, but it could not be sold for beverage purposes and was deemed unfit for consumption on its own, whereas peppermint was regarded for medicinal qualities, thus available as a prescription alcoholic elixir. Speakeasy patrons in the 1920s were known for dropping mints into bootleg spirits to help mask the poor taste, but those days are of a bygone era as these new moonshine flavors are meant to be enjoyed.

Goodfella’s Vanilla (42-proof) starts with Signature Moonshine as a base and is infused with Madagascar vanilla beans and brown sugar, creating a sweet sip that is as smooth as a wise guy—but packs a rich punch.

Inspired by seasonal flavors, the limited-edition Peppermint Moonshine (100-proof) will cure anyone’s winter blues. An infusion of peppermint and Signature Moonshine, this flavorful refreshment is a treat for spirit enthusiasts seeking a way to stay warm this season. Sweet and flavorful on its own, the limited-edition ‘shine is also the perfect liquor for boozy hot chocolates and other winter inspired cocktails.

“Just in time for the holidays, the Museum is delighted to introduce these two new moonshine flavors,” said Ashley Miller, vice president of marketing, communications and sales for The Mob Museum. “Destined to be crowd favorites, they are both ideal for stocking stuffers as well as the perfect ingredient for festive cocktails, and we can’t wait for our guests to enjoy these new varieties.”

Each flavor of moonshine is available in 750mL and 50mL sizes starting at $6.95. For those interested in bringing home a selection of moonshines, the Museum offers a Moonshine 3-pack with three 50mL, airline-friendly, mason jars of ‘shine. With the Signature Moonshine, buyers can customize their 3-pack with two additional varieties of their choosing. The Museum has also created two limited-edition Merry Moonshine holiday wreaths - one with a single 750 mL bottle and the other with three 50mL jars of either the holiday or classic moonshine varieties. Limited-edition whisky derived from a two-year double-barreling experiment

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 13, 2022 - Today, Old Forester Distilling Co. releases the latest edition in its coveted 117 Series: a double-barreled bourbon that stayed in the second barrel for an unusually long time.

The result is a bourbon of exceptional quality with pronounced sweet and spice notes.

Old Forester took its beloved 1910 expression and aged it in a second barrel for 24 months.

Master Taster Melissa Rift said the whiskey aptly earned its special name – Old Forester Extra Extra Old.

"This expression was born from a creative and innovative experiment while staying true to the classic taste which sets Old Forester apart," Rift said.  "Although I only joined Old Forester last month, this was one of the first new limited expressions I was honored to taste – and the extra long double barreling leads to an explosion of flavors."

To celebrate the release at the distillery on December 13, Old Forester is thanking its loyal customers by offering free coffee, hot chocolate and holiday cookies from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. outside the distillery.  Visitors to the distillery that morning will also have a special visitor – Melissa Rift, to help kick off the release.

Old Forester 1910 is a coveted expression commemorating the October 22, 1910 distillery fire at 117 Main Street. A batch of mature whisky ready to be bottled was instead re-barreled in new barrels for removal due to the fire damage.  What emerged was a full-bodied whisky, remarkable enough to become an entirely new expression – Old Fine Whisky.

For Extra Extra Old, the brand experimented by leaving the 1910 whisky in the heavily charred secondary barrel for two years.

Old Forester Extra Extra Old is bottled at 93 proof and will be released in very limited quantities for purchase today at the Old Forester Distillery and in our online store.  It will also be available at select Kentucky retailers.  Guests visiting the distillery on paid experiences between December 13 and December 23 will have the opportunity to purchase a bottle, in accordance with the distillery's special release policy.

The Remix Challenge launched on Wednesday, December 7th across UnitedMaster's and J. Ivy kicked off the challenge by showing his audience his interpretation of the Frontier Spirit.

J. Ivy is a three-time GRAMMY Nominated, Peabody, Clio, Telly, and NAACP Image Award-Winning Poet, Spoken Word Artist, Actor & Songwriter widely known for his appearances on HBO Def Poetry and his feature with hip hop's biggest names.

He was recently nominated for the first-ever GRAMMY Award for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album. He has collaborated with John Legend, RZA, The Last Poets, The Roots, Common, Mos Def, The Black Crowes, Bob Dylan, Deepak Chopra, Michael Jordan and many more. He supports his community through his Write to Live Academy and the Dear Father Initiative, which encourages young people to explore careers in the arts.

Channeling the complex, multi-step distillation process that makes Mortlach unique, Amuah's multifaceted light fixture shares the journey of Mortlach from its origin to the final product. The Mortlach distillery was founded in 1823 in Dufftown, Scotland by James Findlater and his two partners, Donald McIntosh and Alexander Gordon. Nearest Green Distillery Is Officially the Most Successful Black-Owned Distillery in the World

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 5, 2022- Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the most-awarded Bourbon and American Whiskey of 2019, 2020, and 2021, announced today that its sales exceeded $100 million through October 2022, with an on-track forecast to more than double that total by the end of 2023. Its recently expanded 323-acre distillery has already welcomed more than 100,000 guests with that number increasing significantly every week.

The company was founded by its CEO Fawn Weaver in 2017. She was then joined by Chief Business Officer Katharine Jerkens and, shortly after, Victoria Eady Butler, the great-great-granddaughter of the company's namesake, Nearest Green, and four-time Master Blender of the Year recipient. Last year, Uncle Nearest announced it had become the best-selling Black American-founded, owned, and led spirit brand in U.S. history. In honor of the anniversary, Wyoming Whiskey founding Master Distiller Steve Nally and Master Blender Nancy Fraley have barrel selected and batched a rich and balanced 10-year-old rye bourbon worthy of the milestone. This masterpiece whiskey reflects 20 of the rarest casks at the Wyoming Whiskey distillery that were filled in November and December of 2011 and is the oldest product ever released by Wyoming Whiskey.

Five Trail is going international.

The award-winning whiskey from Coors Whiskey Co. is set to enter its first international markets in December, when it launches in Panama and in Canada, at Ontario LCBO stores and select on-premise accounts.

“There is a huge level of interest for American whiskey in international markets right now,” says David Coors, vice president of next generation beverages for Molson Coors. Exports of American whiskey increased 22% in the first seven months of 2021 versus the prior year, according to Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS), a trade group representing spirits interests.

And Canada is among the top importers of American whiskey, holding the No. 6 spot, according to DISCUS. Panama also ranks among the top-20 importers of American whiskey, DISCUS data show.

Distilled with the same Coors barley that makes Coors Light, Five Trail will be sold as a super-premium brand, retailing for CA$79.95. It will sell as an ultra-premium whiskey in Panama.

Launched last year in the U.S., Five Trail has quickly gained a reputation as a quality whiskey. It won double gold at the prestigious San Francisco Spirits Competition in April, and has taken home other awards from industry competitions like the SIP Awards and ASCOT Awards.

Meanwhile, strong consumer demand has paved the way for its expansion into 11 states, with more on the way.

Canada

Five Trail arrives as the whiskey market in Canada continues to grow, increasing to 49.45 million liters in 2021, up nearly 7% since 2018, according to Statistics Canada. American whiskey, in particular, has become a favorite of Canadian drinkers, says Dan Lundberg, senior director of Molson Coors Beverage Company’s Canadian craft beer division, Six Pints Collective.

“Five Trail is an absolutely delicious whiskey, and there’s a huge interest in whiskey in Canada,” he says. “There’s a real connoisseurship here and interest in new blends from new places and producers. We’re tapping into that consumer desire, and I think Canadians are going to love Five Trail.”

The whiskey is Molson Coors’ first foray into full-strength spirits in Canada since the 1800s, further cementing its transformation into a beverage company, Lundberg says.

“The story behind the brand is incredibly strong. The whiskey itself is fantastic. We have a strong belief it’s going to be a winner in this market,” he says. “Given our success over the last 230 years, I think consumers will be excited to see us introduce something like Five Trail.”

Panama

Five Trail’s expansion into Panama is also Molson Coors’ first advance into full-strength spirits in Latin America, where it imports brands such as Blue Moon, Coors Light and Miller Genuine Draft.

Coors sees parallels with in Five Trail’s southward expansion with that of Blue Moon, which opened its first Panamanian location in 2019. It now has two taprooms in Panama, one in Panama City’s Costa del Este neighborhood and another in Panama City’s historic Casco Viejo area.

“There’s a great affinity for American brands (in Panama),” Coors says. “It’s a strong whiskey market as well. Our beer portfolio has resonated well with consumers there, and we’re hopeful the Five Trail whiskey brand does, as well.”
