Culture Mavericks James Bond & Jon Buscemi To Launch "Wolves" -- California's First Luxury Whiskey BrandLOS ANGELES, May 30, 2019 - Iconoclasts James Bond (Undefeated) and Jon Buscemi (Buscemi, Greats, Truff, Oliver Peoples) continue to blaze a trail with the launch of their bespoke California whiskey brand: Wolves.  Distilled and bottled in California's wine country, Jon, James, and their partners have sourced and designed a highly limited offering that is unlike anything else available on the Whiskey market.

Wolves initial release, titled "First Run," is a blend comprised of a whiskey double distilled from a craft Stout beer, aged for 8 years in French oak, a whiskey double distilled from a craft Pilsner beer, aged in New American Oak for 5 years, and a Rye whiskey selected for its spice to round out the finish.  The full blend is lightly filtered for clarity and cut with the mineral rich water of Mendocino County.

The Wolves team sampled more than 50 barrels and created 19 test blends at different ratios and proof contents before settling on a dangerously smooth 106 proof expression.

"I wanted to sip something with my people at my house that was truly different, something you couldn't find anywhere else," said Jon Buscemi of his new project. "When we found the Master Distiller in Northern California, we knew we found what we were looking for, for our first release. He's an artist. We brought some special Rye to the table and blended a juice that is balanced and rich."

The 13th generation Master Distiller, Marko Karakasevic, lives by the same code and compass that James and Jon abide.  Each small, bespoke batch of distillate is created over a 10-day period.  The Master Distiller sleeps in four hour shifts during this time, and no one else is permitted to touch the still.  The Master Distiller double distills Wolves exclusively in a rare Alambic pot still, imported from Cognac, France – one of only 5 in the United States.  The Master Distiller has sole control over where the cuts are made in the distillation process, using only the 'heart of hearts' for Wolves.

True to form 'First Run' is not your standard bourbon experience.  The rare Alambic still creates massive body that you can't easily find in a whiskey from a column still. And because it is distilled from craft beer, the nose is slightly sweet and hoppy. The flavors are decadent, and the experience is decidedly smooth for a 106 proof whiskey.

The craftsmanship, however, doesn't end with the juice.  Each bottle is wrapped in Italian sheepskin leather, which is hand cut, embossed, printed with UV light, and laid flush to the glass by hand.  The bottle is heavy, French-cut glass, and the cork top is made of Maple wood.

"The idea for design was to not stray too far from what we do, since not all of us were proper whiskey drinkers by nature," said James Bond.  "We had to build it to live in something authentic that we would create no matter what the product would be.  Leather bound bottles and handcrafted containers fits anyone's vibe no matter what they drink."

Wolves produced 898 bottles of 'First Run,'' which is available exclusively at Reservebar.com and Flaviar.com.  Each of these websites serves different states.  MSRP $150. Not available in all 50 states.

Sam Houston 12 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey - Release No.2

The new batches of Sam Houston were crafted from a rare, premium bourbon reserve. The bourbon was aged for a minimum of 12 years in new American White Oak barrels, charred at #4 level and was held to the highest scrutiny for quality, flavor and complexity. Each barrel was hand-chosen, and the current release has been crafted in extremely small batches, using only 3 barrels at a time. Each bottle is individually hand-labeled with specific aging notes and numbered.

To be labeled as Bottled in Bond, a spirit must be: composed only of the same class and type of spirits, the product of one distillation season by one distillery (distilled by Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. at Cascade Hollow Distillery, DSP-TN-2, during the fall season of 2005), unaltered from the original condition or character, stored in oak containers a federally bonded warehouse under U.S. government supervision  (stored at Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, TN) for at least four years (13 years old) and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) and reduced in proof only by the addition of water to not less than 100 proof. George Dickel Bottled in Bond has been aged and bottled according to this special set of regulations from the U.S. government's Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits.

While Nicole Austin recommends first trying the whisky neat or on the rocks to realize the full flavor profile, George Dickel Bottled in Bond can also lend a beautiful backbone to popular cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Manhattan.

As a kick off to Mother's Day celebrations, Crown Royal enlisted the help of multi-PLATINUM selling performer and Academy of Country Music Awards Male Artist of the Year Thomas Rhett to host an intimate brunch honoring Mothers Of Military servicemen and women in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.Known for his philanthropic work, Thomas Rhettrecently helped to launch The Crown Royal Purple Bag Project, the brand's largest generosity commitment to-date, which partners with the non-profit organization Packages From Home to distribute one million care packages to military and others in need by 2020.

From laughter to heartfelt conversations, the brunch was filled with special moments as the mothers proudly spoke of the accomplishments of their sons and daughters and found camaraderie in their shared experiences. Thomas Rhett and Crown Royal then surprised the mothers by bringing out their active-duty sons and daughters. Representing multiple bases, branches and ranks of the United States Military, the reunions demonstrated the power of unconditional love and support between family members regardless of time and distance.

The military sons and daughters took the opportunity to express gratitude for their mothers, pinning each with a Crown Royal M.O.M. Medal. These M.O.M. Medals are in the shape of a pentagon to represent the five branches of the United States Military, and feature the Greek goddess of motherhood Ancient Leto, as well as a double strand rope to symbolize the strength of the bond between a mother and her child.

The brand also provided a first glimpse into its newest, and very rare whiskey offering, aptly named The Bootleg Series, which will be available later this year.

Bottled at 100 proof, this is a rich and full-bodied bourbon that is mellowed with sugar maple after distillation before entering new white oak barrels. Heaven's Door 10 Year Tennessee Straight Bourbon is presented in a commemorative box with a replica of Bob Dylan's original hand-typed lyrics of "Maggie's Farm" and "Subterranean Homesick Blues." Later this year, Heaven's Door will also unveil the first of its Bootleg Series of rare whiskeys, named after Dylan's famous "Bootleg Series" of albums. The inaugural release will be a 25-year-old whiskey finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, creating a truly unique and distinctive flavor profile. Native to Japan, Mizunara Oak is one of the rarest and most expensive types of oak in the world. Waiting at least 200 years before being harvested for barrel aging, alongside a global boom of Japanese whiskey, Mizunara Oak has become extremely difficult to procure. As a result, Japan has created an annual auction of the oak with a small supply going to the highest bidders.
Bottled with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $499.99 for a 750ml bottle, the first release of The Bootleg Series will be available in very limited quantities for the 2019 holiday season. Heaven's Door will provide more details on this offering later this year.

FERNDALE, Mich., May 6, 2019 Mark your calendars for May 23 from 5-8 p.m. for an exclusive release event for Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon from Valentine Distilling Co. The event will take place at the production facility located at 965 Wanda Street in Ferndale. Tickets to the event are required and will be available only through Eventbrite starting Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. EDT. While a ticket to the event is free, you can redeem your ticket at the event for access to purchase a bottle of the exclusive Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon limited release for $89.99. The Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon 7 Year release is an age-stated marriage of eight barrels that yielded 1,012 bottles from MGPI in Lawrenceburg, IN. The proof is 118.0. The marriage is a blend of 45 percent 12-year 6-month, 24 percent 13-year 7-month, and 31 percent 7-year 2-month bourbon. Although the 7-year is less than one-third of the blend, the law mandates that Valentine call this a 7-year aged bourbon.

"We included the 7-year with this blend on purpose, because it made it better. We could have made a few more dollars leaving the 7-year out from a marketing and labeling perspective, but that's not what we do," said Rifino Valentine, founder and president of Valentine Distilling Co. Following the exclusive release party, approximately 900 bottles will be distributed to store shelves. The Mayor Pingree Black Label Bourbon 7 Year will be available at select stores and restaurants in the markets that Valentine Distilling Co. serves.

Constellation Brands Increases Investment in Tennessee Whiskey Maker Nelson’s Green Brier™ Distillery

VICTOR, N.Y., May 02, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ and STZ.B), a leading beverage alcohol company, announced today it acquired a majority stake in Nelson’s Green Brier™ Distillery, marking Constellation’s first ventures investment to be fully integrated into the business. Nelson’s Green Brier is a craft Tennessee whiskey distillery, co-founded by brothers Andy and Charlie Nelson, that produces a variety of award-winning offerings under the Belle Meade™ Bourbon brand and is set to release a Tennessee Whiskey later this year. The majority stake by Constellation allows for Nelson’s Green Brier to continue to operate with its existing management team led by Andy and Charlie Nelson, and its employees running the day-to-day operations.

Through Constellation’s venture capital group, an initial minority investment was made in Nelson’s Green Brier in 2016. After more than three years of collaborating, sharing consumer insights, and gaining deeper knowledge of two of the top trends in the spirits category – craft and whiskey – Constellation further solidified its goal of broadening its higher-end spirits portfolio by increasing its interest in the Nashville, Tenn. based distillery.

Originally established by Charles Nelson in 1860, Nelson’s Green Brier became one of the most successful distilleries in the U.S. until 1909, when Prohibition became law in Tennessee and the distillery was forced to close. Nearly 100 years later, Charles’s great-great-great grandsons, Andy and Charlie Nelson, rebuilt the distillery and began producing the soon-to-be released Tennessee Whiskey using the original recipe Charles Nelson used prior to Prohibition.
