Maker’s Mark Gold Label Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Maker’s Mark Gold Label Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Maker’s Mark Gold Label Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Limited Edition Old Style Sour Mash
50.5%-ABV, 700ml bottles.
About Maker’s Mark:

Maker’s Mark is a small-batch, wheated bourbon whisky distilled at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. Founded in 1953 by Bill Samuels Sr. and his wife Margie, the brand is famous for its hand-dipped red wax seal and its unique decision to use soft red winter wheat instead of rye in its mash bill to achieve a smoother, sweeter flavor profile.

The Maker’s Mark Difference

  • Wheated Mash Bill: While most bourbons use rye for spice, Maker’s Mark uses 16% soft red winter wheat, which provides a creamy, front-of-palate sweetness with notes of vanilla and caramel.
  • Handcrafted Traditions: Every bottle is still hand-dipped in red wax (a trademarked look), and every barrel is rotated by hand in the warehouse to ensure consistent aging.
  • Spelling Legacy: It is one of the few American brands to use the Scottish spelling "whisky" without the "e," a tribute to the Samuels family's Scots-Irish heritage.
  • Sustainability: As a certified B Corp, Maker’s Mark emphasizes regenerative agriculture and maintains its own limestone-filtered water source at Star Hill Farm.

Product Lineup

  • Classic Maker’s Mark: The original 90-proof bourbon known for being approachable and smooth.
  • Maker’s Mark 46: The first major new expression, finished with seared French oak staves for a bolder, spicier profile.
  • Cask Strength: The original recipe bottled at its natural proof, typically between 108 and 114 proof.
  • Cellar Aged: The distillery's oldest release, featuring a blend of whiskies aged up to 14 years in a limestone cellar.
  • Wood Finishing Series: Annual limited releases, such as the 2026 Stewards Release, which use custom stave profiles to amplify specific flavors.

Visiting the Distillery

Located on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the distillery is a National Historic Landmark.

  • Location: 3350 Burks Spring Rd, Loretto, KY.
  • Experiences: Visitors can book the Classic Maker’s Mark Tour (approx. 75 minutes) or participate in a bottle-dipping session to wax their own purchase.
  • Dining: Star Hill Provisions offers farm-to-table cuisine, while the Homeplace Bar serves seasonal cocktails.

Maker’s Mark 2026 Reds Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Maker’s Mark 2026 Reds Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Maker’s Mark 2026 Reds Limited Edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
45%-ABV, 750ml bottles.
About Maker’s Mark:

Maker's Mark is a premium, small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon whisky known for its signature hand-dipped red wax seal and a smooth, approachable flavor profile. Founded in 1953 by Bill Samuels Sr., it famously replaces traditional rye grain with soft red winter wheat to eliminate the "burn" often associated with other bourbons.

Key Characteristics

  • Wheated Mash Bill: The recipe consists of 70% corn, 16% soft red winter wheat, and 14% malted barley. The use of wheat instead of rye results in a sweeter, mellower taste.
  • Aged to Taste: Unlike most distilleries that age for a set number of years, Maker's Mark is aged until expert tasters determine it is ready, typically between 5.5 to 7 years.
  • Hand-Rotated Barrels: It is the only major distillery that manually rotates every 525-pound barrel from the upper to the lower levels of the rackhouse to ensure consistent maturation across all batches.
  • Signature Branding: Every bottle is hand-dipped in red wax at the distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, meaning no two bottles have the exact same drip pattern.

Core Product Lineup

  • Maker's Mark Bourbon: The flagship expression, bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). It features notes of vanilla, caramel, and fruit with a smooth finish.
  • Maker's Mark 46: The first new major product in 60 years, it is finished with seared French oak staves for added complexity, spice, and deep vanilla richness.
  • Maker's Mark Cask Strength: A bold, uncut version bottled at barrel proof (typically 107–114 proof), amplifying the signature flavors of dark cherry and toasted oak.
  • Maker's Mark 101: A higher-proof limited release (101 proof) that offers a richer, creamier mouthfeel with bold spice and ripe fruit notes.

History and Heritage

  • The Samuels Family: Bill Samuels Sr. famously burned his family's 170-year-old recipe in 1953 to start fresh with a smoother formula.
  • Margie Samuels' Legacy: Bill's wife, Margie, is credited with creating the brand name, the bottle shape, the label design, and the iconic red wax seal. She was the first woman directly involved with a distillery to be inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.
  • Distillery Location: Produced at Star Hill Farm in Loretto, Kentucky, the distillery is a National Historic Landmark and uses its own limestone-filtered water source.

Sustainability Initiatives

Maker's Mark is a Certified B Corp, emphasizing environmental responsibility through several programs:

  • Regenerative Farming: 86% of their grains currently come from growers practicing regenerative agriculture.
  • Solar Powered: All warehouses in Loretto are powered by solar energy.
  • Zero Landfill Goal: The distillery pulverizes 20 tons of glass per month for use on trails and upcycles cardboard to replace plastic packaging

INTRODUCING STAR HILL FARM WHISKY FROM THE MAKER'S MARK DISTILLERY

INTRODUCING STAR HILL FARM WHISKY FROM THE MAKER'S MARK DISTILLERY

First new mashbill and first wheat whisky in its 70-year history, Maker's Mark
continues its leadership in sustainability and advances regenerative agriculture

LORETTO, Ky., April 8, 2025 - Maker's Mark® today announced the debut of Star Hill Farm Whisky, the distillery's first new mashbill and first wheat whisky, celebrating the role regenerative agriculture plays in creating healthier soil, better flavor and a more sustainable future. The annual release will be available in the United States and the United Kingdom beginning in mid-May and in Australia later in 2025. With its launch, Maker's Mark is scaling its sustainability efforts by establishing The Maker's Mark Regenerative Alliance and has committed to transitioning a million acres of conventional farmland to regenerative over the next three years.

"Guided by our founders' pursuit of excellence and a higher purpose, we are proud to share Star Hill Farm Whisky with the world — a 10-year journey to unlock nature's depth of flavor, resulting in something new from the Maker's Mark Distillery," said Rob Samuels, eighth-generation whisky maker and managing director of Maker's Mark. "The launch of Star Hill Farm Whisky will expand our platform to advance regenerative agriculture beyond our business, fostering a more sustainable future for our industry, people and planet."

While Maker's Mark has used the same mashbill for over 70 years to create a balanced and consistent bourbon, Star Hill Farm Whisky will evolve each year, exploring flavors that soil, wheat, water and wood impart to quality ingredients when expertly blended, aged and grown regeneratively. The inaugural release will highlight soft red winter wheat — the distinctive grain in Maker's Mark's mashbill — and will remove corn entirely, allowing the wheat to shine. The 2025 release of Star Hill Farm Whisky is crafted from two mashbills: one with 70% soft red winter wheat and 30% malted barley, and the other with 100% malted soft red winter wheat.

"We're proud to introduce the first wheat whisky in our distillery's history, one that showcases our vision and innovation and honors the land that makes it all possible," said Dr. Blake Layfield, master distiller, Maker's Mark. "This release is a complex yet balanced blend of seven- and eight-year whiskies, bottled uncut at cask strength. The nose captivates with notes of buttery caramel, golden raisins and gingerbread. On the palate, you'll find a soft, bright mix of honeyed toffee, chocolate-covered cherries, and a hint of apple pie spice. The finish is smooth and inviting, with toasted pecans and soft cinnamon bringing it all together."

Partnering to Advance Regenerative Agriculture

Star Hill Farm Whisky is named after the 1,100-acre farm that is home to the Maker's Mark Distillery, chosen by its founders, Margie and Bill Samuels Sr., in 1953 for its unique water source and proximity to grain growers. Maker's Mark still owns, protects and enriches its watershed and land. Today, Maker's Mark is the first and only bourbon distillery to achieve B Corp Certification in Kentucky and the first distillery globally to achieve certification from Regenified™, the leading regenerative certification company.

With the launch of Star Hill Farm Whisky, Maker's Mark has formed an alliance with Regenified and Understanding Ag, which provides education and technical support to build healthy farm ecosystems. The Maker's Mark Regenerative Alliance will invite farms, bars and restaurants — starting in New York, Kentucky and greater London — to join its mission: pledging to adopt regenerative practices in sourcing and operations, while promoting its benefits through menu storytelling and consumer engagement.

Star Hill Farm Whisky will be the first to carry an Estate Whiskey certification — a new designation by The Estate Whiskey Alliance™ group established by the University of Kentucky to highlight the advantages of local sourcing and sustainable production in the whiskey industry. Estate whiskey refers to a category that is produced entirely on the distillery estate, using grains sourced from estate owned or controlled land.

With an ABV of 57.35% (114.7 proof), the Star Hill Farm Whisky 2025 Release will have a suggested retail price of USD $100. In the United States, the limited release will be available at select retailers nationwide and available for purchase at the Maker's Mark Distillery by booking a Star Hill Farm Whisky experience at https://www.makersmark.com//distillery/visit-us.

MAKER'S MARK CELEBRATES ITS WAREHOUSE TEAM WITH LATEST WOOD FINISHING SERIES: THE KEEPERS RELEASE 2025

MAKER'S MARK CELEBRATES ITS WAREHOUSE TEAM WITH LATEST WOOD FINISHING SERIES: THE KEEPERS RELEASE 2025

LORETTO, Ky., March 19, 2025 /e/ -- Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon driven by a vision for better flavor and a better world, today announced the next iteration of its Wood Finishing Series, The Keepers Release 2025 - inspired by the warehouse team who ensure every barrel of Maker's Mark matures consistently to the founders' taste vision.

"From the beginning, our founders - my grandparents - went to remarkable lengths to create an uncompromisingly delicious bourbon," said Rob Samuels, eighth generation whisky maker and managing director, Maker's Mark. "We are delighted to introduce this latest Wood Finishing Series expression that celebrates the team who still rotate each and every barrel of Maker's Mark by hand and who continue to embrace our founders' perfectly unreasonable pursuit of excellence."

Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series is a collection of one-of-a-kind expressions that use an innovative wood stave-finishing technique to enhance distinctive characteristics already present in the brand's iconic bourbon. The Keepers Release 2025 showcases rich, oak-forward aromas of seasoned wood, brûléd sugar, and tobacco, leading to a long, enveloping finish characterized by dried dark fruit and a lingering roasted sweetness.

"The Keepers Release was born from our close collaboration with the Maker's Mark warehouse team, the guardians of our barrels," said Dr. Blake Layfield, master distiller, Maker's Mark. Their sensory experience of Maker's Mark is unlike anyone else's — the aromatic oak at different times of the day, evolving tasting notes of our whisky as it ages over multiple seasons — which provided inspiration and helped us shape the flavors of this release."

At 54.6% ABV / 109.2 proof, the release will be available at U.S. retailers for $74.99 beginning today. For more information, please visit www.MakersMark.com.

Maker's Mark Premieres "Perfectly Unreasonable"

New Global Brand Campaign Celebrates the Remarkable Lengths it Takes to Create Uncompromisingly Delicious Bourbon

LORETTO, Ky., Feb. 17, 2025 - Maker's Mark®, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, today announced the launch of its new global brand campaign, Perfectly Unreasonable. The cinematic campaign asserts that going to unreasonable lengths – in life and in bourbon – is what separates good from remarkable. It celebrates those who relentlessly pursue excellence and shines a light on the unconventional decisions that have made Maker's Mark an icon.

"Perfectly Unreasonable is more than a campaign, it has been our ethos since my grandparents broke with tradition to reimagine what bourbon could be," said Rob Samuels, eighth generation whisky maker and managing director, Maker's Mark. "Maker's Mark continues to be driven by the pursuit of better bourbon and a better world, with our founders' vision as our north star."

From the beginning, Maker's Mark founders Margie and Bill Samuels Sr. committed to doing things differently. Burning the family's 170-year-old recipe to create something entirely new for the category – a delicious and balanced bourbon – and they chose the homeplace for Maker's Mark in outlying Loretto, Kentucky because of its unique water source. They were also one of the first to open their distillery doors to visitors – a precursor to today's Bourbon Trail. This challenger spirit endures today with every bottle hand-dipped in signature red wax, every barrel rotated by hand, and the brand's dedication to become B Corp and Regenified certified.

Perfectly Unreasonable was shot by acclaimed Swedish film director Marcus Söderlund and serves as a manifesto for a new generation of global bourbon enthusiasts, illustrating that breakthrough accomplishments are born from challenging the status quo with vision and determination. This global campaign marks the first execution for the brand by global creative agency Carmichael Lynch.

"This bold campaign reinforces how Maker's Mark is unique in its uncompromising commitment to excellent bourbon, as well as the personal and unconventional ways we communicate to consumers," said Chloe Lloyd-Jones, vice president of global brand marketing, Maker's Mark. "We know Perfectly Unreasonable will resonate with Maker's Mark fans, who expect nothing less from us, and new whisky drinkers around the world."

Perfectly Unreasonable premiered in the U.S. during NBC Primetime this weekend and will include integrations with NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" as well as 'The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers' and 'Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers' Podcasts. A fully integrated campaign will roll out nationally and in key markets globally throughout 2025. The hero creative will take 30-second, 15-second and six-second forms across television, streaming, digital and social media, and will be supported via the brand's website, ambassador program and distillery experiences.

LORETTO, Ky., Nov. 13, 2024- Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, today announced its partnership with world-renowned bartender, and friend of the brand, Colin P. Field, to create an extraordinary cocktail experience at the Maker's Mark Distillery and in New York City this December.

Kicking off the holidays, the bespoke bourbon pop-up aptly named 'Le 46,' will celebrate Maker's Mark 46, which is aged with specially seared French oak staves, giving it bolder notes of caramel and vanilla and a balanced complexity. Inspired by its Kentucky-made, French-finished expression, Maker's Mark enlisted Field, known for his storied career at the iconic Bar Hemingway in Paris, to develop the Le 46 cocktail program.

"Not only does Colin create impeccable cocktails, he is also a fantastic storyteller and the consummate host," said Rob Samuels, eighth generation whisky maker and managing director, Maker's Mark. "We are delighted to welcome Colin back to the homeplace of Maker's Mark and excited to share the exceptional experience he'll create with our community of bourbon lovers."

Le 46 will first pop up at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, on Friday, December 6th, as part of the brand's annually anticipated 'Holiday Sip & Stroll' tour - special after-hours tours of the distillery under the holiday lights where guests enjoy warm bourbon cocktails, seasonal snacks and can purchase a bottle of Maker's Mark to hand dip in the brand's signature red wax.

For more than 44 years, Field has created, shaken, and stirred cocktails for celebrities and CEOs, designers and doyennes, the global jet-set and local regulars. Field brings his expertise to Kentucky at the Maker's Mark Homeplace Bar for one night only, where guests can enjoy handcrafted Maker's Mark 46 cocktails by Colin. Tickets are $35, while reservations are available here

Field said: "As a barman who deeply appreciates the artistry of fine spirits, Maker's Mark 46 stands out to me for its unique character and complexity thanks to the French oak finishing. It beautifully marries the richness of tradition with a modern twist. I'm thrilled to craft this pop-up experience, where I can share my passion for this exceptional bourbon and celebrate its extraordinary flavor."

True to his penchant for creating cocktails that travel the world, Field will create a signature Maker's Mark 46 cocktail to be featured at the distillery through the holiday season.

Following its Kentucky debut, Le 46 will journey with Field to the Maker's Mark holiday pop-up in New York City in December. Once more, Field will craft cocktails that showcase the unique character of Maker's Mark 46 in every sip.

Maker's Mark® Bourbon Calls Consumers to Recognize 'Spirited Women' with Personalized, Limited-Edition Label

Iconic Bourbon Brand Partners with Leading Nonprofit Vital Voices and Artist Gayle Kabaker in Honor of Women's History Month

LORETTO, Ky., Feb. 19, 2024- Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, today announced its support of Vital Voices, a leading nonprofit investing in female leaders taking on the world's greatest challenges, with a limited-edition label designed by renowned artist Gayle Kabaker. In honor of Women's History Month, consumers are invited to order the complimentary Maker's Mark label at makersmarkpersonalize.com and personalize it with the name of an inspirational woman in their lives.

"Vital Voices is thrilled to join Maker's Mark in this collaboration to amplify the power of women," said Alyse Nelson, President and CEO of Vital Voices. "We deeply appreciate their support in our mission to advance women leaders and our world."

Gayle Kabaker, a longstanding partner of Vital Voices, has a history of creating art that showcases women who use their power to empower others and was inspired to illuminate the organization with Maker's Mark.  Kabaker's limited-edition label depicts her interpretation of a spirited woman in acrylic gouache, inspired by the wildflowers of Kentucky and the colors of the Maker's Mark palette.

"As a brand co-founded by my grandmother Margie Samuels more than 70 years ago, Maker's Mark continues to be guided and grown by incredible women defining what's next in the industry," said Rob Samuels, Managing Director of Maker's Mark and 8th generation whisky maker. "We are privileged to continue our commitment to women making an impact in their communities and support the meaningful causes that drive Vital Voices."

While Bill Samuels, Sr., Margie's husband and Maker's Mark co-founder, was focused on creating the highest-quality bourbon, he celebrated and empowered Margie to build the brand and brand experience – forever changing the course of spirits branding in the industry.  The shape of the bottle, the look of the label, the signature red wax topper, and even the name are all thanks to Margie. Among the first women to be inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame, Margie also championed the importance of the Kentucky distillery's aesthetic and emphasis on tourism, planting the seed for what is now the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

The ongoing contributions of women at Maker's Mark can be seen in all aspects of the brand, from the product development and leadership of Star Hill Farm, the home of the Maker's Mark Distillery, to the brand's sustainability initiatives and global brand representation. While staying true to the founders' flavor vision: a full-flavored, soft red winter wheat bourbon with a smooth finish, Maker's Mark continues to shape the brand's future through purposeful, flavor-driven innovation.

Throughout the year, consumers can create a custom Maker's Mark gift for anyone with the brand's personalized label program. Labels are currently available for 750mL bottles, which must be purchased separately and recipients must be 21+. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Advances its Pursuit of Flavor Through Nature With the Filling of its First Certified Regenified Barrel

Maker's Mark® Bourbon Advances its Pursuit of Flavor Through Nature With the Filling of its First Certified Regenified Barrel

Historic milestone recognizes the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices in grain production as Maker's Mark continues on its mission to act as a force for good

LORETTO, Ky., Nov. 29, 2023 Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, is proud to announce the filling of its first Certified Regenified barrel of Maker's Mark whisky. It becomes the first spirits distillate to achieve this certification designated by Regenified, a leading third-party regenerative agricultural verification and supply chain-solution company. With this certification, the brand continues on its long-term mission to cultivate bourbon that betters the world, while crafting the most flavorful product possible.

This historic barrel filling was made possible by the strong partnership and shared vision between Maker's Mark and its long-term partner farmers in the Kentucky community who supply its corn and distinctive flavoring grain of red winter wheat, which together make up 86% of the iconic Kentucky bourbon's mashbill. To be Certified Regenified, more than 75% of the grains in the mashbill must be sourced from Certified Regenified farms that have demonstrated a commitment, like Maker's Mark, to restoring and revitalizing our most precious resource – our soil – through regenerative agriculture practices. Each of the brand's corn and wheat farm partners achieved Regenified certification this fall.

"Today, I am proud to say that the Maker's Mark fans know and love is being crafted, in large part, using regenerative practices that give back to the land more than we take," said Rob Samuels, 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the founders at Maker's Mark. "When we commit to these practices, we are rewarded with a healthier environment, higher quality ingredients and ultimately, a more flavorful whisky. I couldn't be more grateful to our grain farmer partners who have shared our commitment from the beginning. It's a proud moment to have our efforts, together, validated and recognized by an organization like Regenified."

Regenified was founded in 2021 by a team of regenerative farming pioneers, experts and innovators to promote regenerative farming practices and combat the decline of soil health due to intensive and unsustainable agricultural practices. The organization works with farmers and ranchers alongside food manufacturers and retailers to repair, rebuild, revitalize and restore the function of the ecosystem and preserve the soil for future generations. Through the Regenified verified label and their proprietary 6-3-4™ Verification Standard, Regenified helps farmers and ranchers understand where their practices and lands are on the regenerative path.

"Maker's Mark's step with their first Certified Regenified whiskey is more than a milestone; it's a story of dedication and partnership with their farmers and the environment," said Salar Shemirani, chief executive officer at Regenified. "As one of the first companies of its size and scale to genuinely embrace regenerative practices, Maker's Mark is setting a new industry standard for others to follow. Partnering with their farmers, they are committed to achieving measurable and continuous improvement above and below the ground, for generations to come."

Since its founding, Maker's Mark has been driven by a sense of responsibility towards its shared natural environment. In addition to advancing regenerative agriculture practices in its own production, other recent initiatives from the B Corp certified brand include the establishment of the world's largest repository of American White Oak trees for research purposes; a first-of-its-kind genome mapping project of the American White Oak species; and the establishment of a 78-acre Natural Water Sanctuary on its distillery grounds to preserve and protect the land that filters its water source now and in the future. The brand has also introduced new guest experiences at its homeplace of Star Hill Farm designed to provide a deeper understanding of the agricultural, research and flavor initiatives happening on the property.

Makers Mark, Conservation Resources, Common Ground Filmmakers Join the Pledge For Regenerative Farming Practices

Team Behind Upcoming Documentary, "Common Ground," Announces Commitment at Clinton Global Initiative

Major Brands like Maker's Mark and Conservation Resources are Among the Founding Partners that have Pledged to Move their Agricultural Supply Chains to Regenerative Farming and Forestry Practices with Major Voices Such as US Senator Cory Booker and Actor Jason Momoa Supporting the Film

Big Picture Ranch, the film studio behind 'Common Ground', a new documentary demanding change from current American farming practices, announced this past week at the Clinton Global Initiative a new $10 million commitment to move 100 million acres of U.S. farmland to regenerative farming by 2025 (more info at www.100MillionAcres.org). As part of the initial launch, major brands including bourbon distillery Maker's Mark and leaders like impact investment group Conservation Resources have pledged 100% of their agricultural supply chain to regenerative practices.

Regenerative agriculture is about reviving our soil, encouraging biodiversity, and ultimately creating a thriving farming economy," said Josh and Rebecca Tickell, documentarians behind "Common Ground" and "Kiss the Ground". "We're honored and thrilled to be making this commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative alongside changemakers from around the world who are building a better, more equitable society. By moving 100 million acres to regenerative practices, we can fundamentally change how we grow food in this country – and at the same time heal our soil, mitigate climate change, help farmers be more profitable, and create happier and healthier communities."

The new commitment, "100 Million Acres Initiative," will build a coalition of farmers, ranchers, non-governmental organizations, and for-profit companies that have pledged to transform at least 10% of their crops, ranches, and supply chains to certified regenerative farming. Progress will be measured using three verified certification partners: Regenified, Regenerative Organic Certified, and Land to Market.

By establishing a shared understanding of the definition of "regenerative," the 100 Million Acres Initiative brings transparency and credibility to the marketplace. After making the pledge, new coalition partners will gain access to the infrastructure, resources, and facilitators they need to transition their supply chain. New Company Pledges can be made online at www.100MillionAcres.org

"Maker's Mark is honored to be a founding partner of the 100 Million Acres initiative," said Rob Samuels, 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the founders at Maker's Mark. "Protecting, preserving and realizing the potential of our land has been a cornerstone of our vision for the past 70 years. I am proud that we can lead by example and contribute to a greater understanding of regenerative agriculture, as well as use these practices ourselves to create a more sustainable and flavorful whisky."

"Conservation Resources was founded 20 years ago with a strategy of investing in timber and farmlands with a vision that environmental and financial value are complementary," said Conservation Resources President Paul Young, a founding pledge maker. "Managing regeneratively is integral to both restoring and protecting the lands we manage, while providing returns to our investors."

Filmmaker Josh Tickell, North Dakota farmer Gabe Brown, and Good Neighbor Garden Founder Mia Vaughnes made the commitment on stage at the Clinton Global Initiative in a discussion moderated by Dr. Sally Uren, the CEO of Forum for the Future, a leading international sustainability non-profit. Tickell, Brown, and Vaughnes outlined the health and societal benefits of regenerative agriculture, noting that by transitioning 100 million acres of agricultural land (or just over 10% of US agricultural land), we could reach a "tipping point" in favor of certified regenerative practices that could remove as much as 5% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions annually from the atmosphere and help farmers lead healthier lives.

"We're facing a modern day dust bowl because of farming practices that put short-term gain over the health of our soil, food, and people," said North Dakota farmer Gabe Brown, a pioneer of the soil-health movement and the subject of "Common Ground. "Regenerative agriculture is about working within the context of nature to create a profit while enhancing the ecosystem for future generations. I've lived it firsthand, building a family farm that through healthy soil and no-till farming helped us increase production and gave me and my family a higher quality of life. By transitioning 100 million acres into regenerative farmland, I hope others will follow in our footsteps and that together we will create healthy soils that will give us clean air and water and healthy plants, animals, and people."

The new commitment stems from Big Picture Ranch's upcoming documentary, "Common Ground," winner of the Tribeca Film Festival Human/Nature award. A follow-up to the hit documentary "Kiss the Ground", the film features U.S. Senator Cory Booker, Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, Woody Harrelson, Ian Somerhalder, Donald Glover, and Rosario Dawson, and explores how regenerative agriculture can help heal the soil, our health, and the planet.

"Regenerative farming is one of the best tools we have to care for our lands, protect the environment, and promote vibrant rural communities while leveling the playing field for small and family farms, said Senator Booker, New Jersey. "We must fix our broken food system, and one of the best ways to do that is by encouraging soil-building regenerative practices. I'm proud to continue working to elevate this movement and the voices of our farmers, workers, and consumers in urban and rural communities."

"Common Ground is about how we heal our land and it's a love letter to our kids who will inherit this earth," said Momoa. "It's a very special film and I'm so very excited for you to see it in theaters."

Common Ground is in select theaters now.

About Common Ground
Common Ground is Josh and Rebecca Tickell's highly anticipated follow up to the juggernaut success documentary, Kiss the Ground, which touched over 1 billion people globally and inspired the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to put $20 billion toward soil health. By fusing journalistic expose' with deeply personal stories from those on the front lines of the food movement, Common Ground reveals how unjust practices forged our current farm system in which farmers of all colors are literally dying to feed us. The new film profiles a hopeful and uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative "regenerative" models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilize America's economy - before it's too late.

Maker's Mark® Launches New Global Campaign: "Make Your Mark"

Maker's Mark® Launches New Global Campaign: "Make Your Mark"

Rooted in the brand's legacy of blazing new trails in Bourbon, debut creative prompts fans to break conventional wisdoms in the pursuit of progress

LORETTO, Ky., July 27, 2023 Maker's Mark® Bourbon is proud to announce the launch of its new global brand campaign, "Make Your Mark," which creates a singular lens for all aspects of brand building the world over. The campaign launch is a defining moment as Maker's Mark pursues its ambition to become an iconic global American whisky brand, expanding on its strong leadership position in North America.

"Make Your Mark" is rooted in the brand's purpose-driven mindset and values that have been consistent since its founding in 1953. The campaign serves to inspire others to ask, "what if?" and challenge convention to make their mark in the world, much like Maker's Mark has within the American whiskey industry.

"To us at Maker's Mark, this is more than just a campaign; it's our entire brand ethos and experience," said KK Hall, Global Brand Vice President of Maker's Mark. "When our founders Bill Sr. and Margie Samuels created Maker's Mark in 1953, they didn't just want to make another bourbon – they wanted to make a better bourbon. And they were brave enough to push conventional boundaries to craft something they were proud to share. That spirit lives on in everything we do, and we're excited for the 'Make Your Mark' campaign to be a beacon of this mindset for whisky fans around the world."

"They Say" – the debut film content of the brand campaign – delivers bold, cinematic creative unlike anything else in the American whiskey category, while reinforcing the handmade nature that has always differentiated Maker's Mark. "They Say" offers a cinematic compilation of vignettes showcasing the possibility that awaits when we break from conventional wisdom in pursuit of progress.

Debuting in the United States today, followed by Canada in August and a global rollout in 2024, the hero film will take 30-second, 15-second and six-second forms for use in television, over-the-top media (e.g. Hulu, Roku), online video (e.g. YouTube), digital and social media. The creative was developed by Leo Burnett under the leadership of Executive Creative Director Sam Shepard. "They Say" was directed by award-winning music video and commercial director Henry Scholfield.

"Maker's Mark was born when its founders bravely lit their 170-year-old family recipe on fire," said Shepherd. "What's even more impressive is how that same energy still permeates through everything Maker's Mark does today. It was incredibly fulfilling to work with a team as unafraid to do things differently as the team at Maker's Mark."

In addition to the debut film creative, the global campaign includes the relaunch of the brand's global website and consumer ambassador program. The global brand experience will be further supported with limited-edition product releases, media and talent partnerships, retail programming, experiential and PR as it is embedded in additional markets in 2024.

Breaking convention in pursuit of progress is not new to Maker's Mark. It was the first bourbon distillery to open its doors to the public, pioneering the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. In a world of automation and efficiency, Maker's Mark maintains handmade touchpoints including hand-dipping every bottle in iconic red wax. Further, the brand pioneers social and environmental initiatives as a force for good and Maker's Mark Distillery is a Certified B Corporation.

Maker's Mark® Bourbon Invites Guests to Go Beyond the Traditional Distillery Tour with Star Hill Farm Experiences

Maker's Mark® Bourbon Invites Guests to Go Beyond the Traditional Distillery Tour with Star Hill Farm Experiences

New Tours Offer Visitors a Hands-On Look at the Home of the Maker's Mark Distillery and the Chance to Experience Flavor Through Nature

LORETTO, Ky., July 20, 2023 - Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, has introduced Star Hill Farm Experiences, a new series of visitor tours at the home of Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. The tours are designed to provide guests with a deeper look at the 1,100 acres of expansive natural land on which Maker's Mark Bourbon is crafted, as well as the sustainability, agriculture and research initiatives underway that allow the brand to cultivate bourbon that betters the world, while crafting the most flavorful products possible.

Unlike anything else on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the Star Hill Farm Experiences are a natural extension of the vision on which Maker's Mark was founded. Maker's Mark co-founder Margie Samuels was a pioneering force behind bourbon tourism in the 1950s, opening the property to family, friends, curious locals and travelers before formal distillery tours existed. Her belief that people should be given the opportunity to see where and how their favorite products are crafted is amplified with the new experiences, as guests are given the opportunity to not only see the production process, but also participate in Maker's Mark's pursuit of flavor through nature.

"Since the founding of Maker's Mark in 1953, achieving the distinctive flavor and quality of our whisky has remained a direct reflection of the environment that surrounds us," said Rob Samuels, 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the Maker's Mark founders. "We're proud to offer these new, immersive experiences that not only let visitors explore the natural beauty that Star Hill Farm has to offer, but also better understand and appreciate nature's influence on the whisky in their glass."

Initial tour offerings now available for booking include:

  • The Oak Experience is a first-hand introduction to the American oak tree from soil to sip, including a visit to the white oak research forest, a journey and toast to the Mother Oak tree (one of the oldest oaks in Kentucky) and the opportunity for guests to plant their own white oak.
  • The Seasonal Star Hill Farm Tour invites guests on a sensory exploration of Star Hill Farm tailored to the season, including crop harvests, livestock visitation and discovery of ingredients grown on-property for the cocktail and culinary programs.
  • The Maker's Mark Art and Design Tour is a look at the world-class art and design featured throughout the property, all of which is designed in harmony with and in celebration of its natural surroundings on Star Hill Farm.

"In the past, our guests have only been able to explore a small piece of our home at Star Hill Farm," said Amanda Humphrey, Star Hill Farm Advocacy and Experience Manager. "With these experiences, we're excited to invite those interested in learning more about Maker's Mark to see, touch and interact with the wood, wheat and water that are essential to our bourbon. Come forage for ingredients we use in bar and restaurant programs, meet the livestock that enrich our soil and call Star Hill Farm home, and see the environmental research projects we have undertaken first-hand."

About Maker's Mark®

In 1953, in Loretto, Ky. Bill Samuels, Sr., fulfilled his dream to create a handmade and delicious bourbon. He decided to make his whisky in small batches, using soft red winter wheat to enhance the softness and sweetness. He then rotated each barrel by hand for consistency and, finally, aged each barrel to taste. While he developed the bourbon, his wife Margie Samuels ideated the bourbon's name and label, standout bottle shape, iconic and signature look that still involves hand-dipping each bottle in red wax to this day. Together as co-founders, Bill and Margie transformed bourbon from a "commodity" into a premium handmade spirit, and today Maker's Mark® Kentucky Straight Bourbon continues to be crafted in the same, purposeful way. In recent years, Maker's Mark has introduced thoughtful, super-premium innovations to its portfolio, including Maker's Mark 46®, Maker's Mark® Cask Strength and Maker's Mark® Private Selection, the industry's first-ever custom barrel program. Today, Maker's Mark is the largest bourbon distillery in the world to achieve B Corp Certification and the first distillery to achieve Regenified certification, a reflection of the brand's dedication towards building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Star Hill Farm, Home to Maker's Mark® Bourbon, Becomes the First Distillery Homeplace to Earn Regenified Certification

Recognizing tangible commitment to regenerative farming practices, the certification continues brand's mission to act as a force for good

LORETTO, Ky., March 28, 2023 - Regenified, the leading regenerative agricultural certification and supply chain-solution company, today announced that it has awarded Regenified Certification to Star Hill Farm, the home of Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Ky. Star Hill Farm is the first farm in Kentucky and home to the first distillery in the world to receive recognition from Regenified for proven and evident progress in regenerative agriculture. With this certification, the brand advances on its long-term mission to cultivate bourbon that betters the world, while crafting the most flavorful product possible.

Regenified was founded by a team of regenerative farming and ranching pioneers, experts and innovators to promote regenerative farming practices and combat the decline of soil health due to intensive and unsustainable agricultural practices. The organization verifies and certifies farms and ranches and their products that repair, rebuild, revitalize and restore the function of the ecosystem and regenerate the soil for future generations. Through the Certified Regenified label and their proprietary 6-3-4™ Verification Standard, Regenified helps the supply chain, including farmers and ranchers, understand where their practices and lands are on the regenerative path.

"Regenerative agriculture is leading the way to improve soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem function while producing high-quality products," said Salar Shemirani, chief executive officer at Regenified. "Maker's Mark's commitment to handcrafting the finest bourbon has always prioritized the quality of their ingredients, dating back to their founding 70 years ago, when regenerative agriculture was the only norm. We are thrilled to recognize Maker's Mark and its homeplace of Star Hill Farm for their ongoing commitment to these practices that are so vital for the health of our planet."

Maker's Mark Distillery sits on more than 1100 contiguous acres of land that make up Star Hill Farm. The brand champions regenerative farming practices throughout its land to enhance the soil, reduce carbon emissions and to maximize the flavor of everything the farm yields, including several hundred acres of regeneratively grown grain varietals. In addition to embracing regenerative farming at Star Hill Farm, Maker's Mark is sharing these practices with its grain suppliers in hopes that the iconic Kentucky bourbon may one day be made fully by regenerative practices that give more to the land than they take.

"We are incredibly proud to be the first farm in Kentucky and the first distillery in the world to achieve certification from Regenified," said Rob Samuels, 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the founders at Maker's Mark. "Our ambition to act as a force for good in all that we do includes our commitment to being good stewards of the land and our soil at the homeplace of Maker's Mark. After all, bourbon is nature, distilled. We know a commitment to the quality of our ingredients through regenerative agriculture can lead to a future where whisky is not only more sustainable, but markedly more flavorful as well."

Maker's Mark is driven by a responsibility to the places, people and practices to create its handmade and delicious bourbon. Other recent initiatives from the B Corp certified brand include the establishment of the world's largest repository of American White Oak trees for research purposes; a first-of-its-kind genome mapping project of the American White Oak species and the establishment of a 33-acre Natural Water Sanctuary on its distillery grounds to preserve and protect the land that filters its water source now and in the future.

Maker's Mark® Bourbon Announces Wood Finishing City Series, A Global Travel Retail Innovation

image

New Offerings Capture the Character, Essence and Experience of The World's Most Enchanting Cities – Beginning in 2022 with New York City and Sydney

LORETTO, Ky., Nov. 8, 2022  Maker's Mark® has today introduced two new Global Travel Retail (GTR) exclusive whiskies to mark its newest Wood Finishing Series – the City Series – capturing the character of the world's most enchanting locations for whisky fans traveling the globe. Launching with New York City and Sydney, new limited-edition city releases will be added over the multi-year series.

Maker's Mark knows that to truly experience a city, you have to know its insiders. To kick off this series, Maker's recruited aesthetes and tastemakers who became our city spirit guides. With every Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series whisky, there's an established taste vision, or flavor goal, in mind. Here, the liquid is meant to evoke the essence and nuances of the place they live and love – all through bourbon.

New York Edition

A first trip to New York City promises to be unforgettable. The taste vision for the New York Edition was created with the goal of capturing the excitement of your first trip to the city that never sleeps. Flavor experts Erina Yoshida and Justin Ottevanger created a whisky that is big, bold and complex, with layers of spice, oak and rich dark chocolate.  At 107.8 proof, the limited-edition bourbon has a long finish … nearly as long as its namesake city's iconic skyline.

Sydney Edition

With the help of Sydney insiders Sam Egerton and Jordan Toft, this herbaceous expression of Maker's Mark pays homage to the vibrant people, culture and dynamic palate of the city. Meant to be enjoyed outdoors, the 110.8 proof spirit is ripe and fruit-forward.

The New York and Sydney Editions are the first two in a limited series of handcrafted Maker's expressions which honor the unique taste profiles of cities around the world. It is the result of more than a decade of wood-science expertise, exploring the influence of oak and agriculture on bourbon's wide-ranging taste profiles. The Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series celebrates the inherent uniqueness of different wood types, celebrating individuality through flavor, just as each city's unique, signature whisky now does.

"It's incredibly rewarding to bring a taste of our distillery in Loretto, Kentucky to the Global Travel Retail market through the new City Series," said Rob Samuels, Chief Distillery Officer at Maker's Mark and Grandson of the Founders. "Just as my grandparents sat down with a taste vision in mind when creating Maker's Mark, partnering with Erina and Justin in New York and Sam and Jordan in Sydney to create bourbons that embodied their cities resulted in delicious new whiskies that are a true adventure of their own."

Both the Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series New York and Sydney Editions are now available Global Travel Retail. The New York Edition is sold at John F. Kennedy Airport Terminal 1 for a SRP of $95 USD and the Sydney Edition is available at Sydney Terminal 1 for a SRP of $140 AUD. Each terminal has curated Maker's Mark boutiques to sell the new whiskies with various experiential components such as screen-printing for travelers to enjoy. The stunning designs play homage to each city and the handcrafted nature of Maker's Mark Bourbon.
