From DBR:
Gordon and MacPhail, a UK-based independent whiskey distributor, and London-based Harrods are set to import New Zealand whiskies to Scotland.
Gordon has ordered for 648 bottles of the New Zealand Whiskey Collection from Dunedin's former Willowbank malt distillery, while Harrods had requested to stock the New Zealand whiskies.
The New Zealand Whiskey Collection includes Dunedin doublewood, South Island single malt and 23yo cask-strength single malt. Each of the whiskey is available in 700ml bottle and could be sold for up to $390, reported The National Business Review.
New Zealand Whiskey chief executive Greg Ramsay told the website that an important export industry for New Zealand is being created.
"The New Zealand Whisky Collection is already being exported to Australia, the US, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands," Ramsay added.
Harrods spokeswoman Deb Preston told the website that the export of whiskey to Scotland marked a significant step in the growth of New Zealand's industry.
"This shipment of New Zealand whisky, to the most discerning and established whisky market in the world, marks a true turning point for the whisky industry in this country," Preston added.
New Zealand Whiskey now plans to come up with its own distillery to meet the growing global demand for craft-distilled whiskey.
