Finished in hand selected, first-fill sherry butts from the prestigious Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, Spain, this expression offers a new, compelling experience within the Single Pot Still category.
Created by Master Blender, Billy Leighton, the fifth offering in the Redbreast range is born out of the longstanding relationship between the Midleton Distillery and the world-renowned sherry house, Bodegas Lustau. The two respected entities share a mutual respect for artisanal production processes, tradition and camaraderie.
After the process of triple distillation in Midleton's iconic copper Single Pot Stills, Redbreast Lustau Edition is initially matured in a combination of exceptional bourbon and sherry casks. The new expression is then uniquely wholly finished for one year in prized sherry butts, seasoned with Oloroso sherry from the unrivaled Bodegas Lustau in Jerez, the sherry capital of the world.
The result is a new interpretation of the signature Redbreast family, which boasts a variety of expressions including Redbreast 12 Year Old, which is regarded as the definite expression of Irish Pot Still whiskey. While each offering within the Redbreast range is full of aroma and flavor, Redbreast Lustau Edition features a distinctive twist, offering a nose of dark fruits, prunes and marzipan, an exceptional creamy texture on the palate with iconic Redbreast spices, and a long, enduring sweet finish complemented by notes of distinctive Spanish oak and Oloroso sherry.
