Jack Daniel's to Light Holiday Barrel Tree at the Forum November 30
Top Barrel of the Display at the Forum Will Be Auctioned to Help
Send Military Home for the Holidays
WHEN:
Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 4:30PM
WHERE:
The Forum
3900 W Manchester Blvd.
Inglewood, CA 90305
*Tree lighting will take place at the Southwest Triangle in the Forum's parking lot, which faces the corner of Prairie Ave. and Pincay Dr.
WHAT:
Los Angeles will get a taste of a special Jack Daniel Distillery holiday tradition when the Tennessee whiskey maker debuts a five-tier barrel tree on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Forum as part of its “Operation Ride Home” program, which has helped junior-enlisted service members and their families travel home for the holidays since 2011. Representatives from the Forum and Jack Daniel’s will be on hand to help illuminate the tree during a special lighting ceremony that is open to the community.
The Lynchburg, Tenn. distillery built its first 26-foot tall tree from 140 American white oak whiskey barrels in 2011 to bring holiday cheer to local residents. This year, 11 replicas will be constructed nationwide and the top barrel of each will be auctioned to help junior-enlisted service members and families travel home from their place of military service, often for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through Operation Ride Home, Jack Daniel’s and the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) have helped send over 10,000 individual service members and their families home – including this year’s travelers – while raising more than $2 million in donations. Men and women from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard have been assisted with travel to all 50 states.
The charred oak barrels used to build each tree were earlier entrusted to mature Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey only once. In addition to Los Angeles, barrel trees will be built this holiday season in Nashville, Tenn.; Lynchburg, Tenn., Tampa, Fla.; Miami, Fla.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Anaheim, Calif.; Detroit, Mich.; Washington D.C.; Cleveland, Ohio; and Milwaukee, Wis.

Hard Truth Distilling Co. to Release First Sweet Mash Rye Whiskey on Nov. 25, 2021
Much Anticipated Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye Whiskey Showcases a New Whiskey Innovation from the Team at Hard Truth
NASHVILLE, IND. (Nov. 8, 2021) – Hard Truth Distilling Co. has announced the release of Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye, the first whiskey distilled, aged, and bottled on Hard Truth’s 325-acre campus in Brown County, Indiana. Batch #001 will be a small batch of 30, two- to three-year-old barrels, uncut, unfiltered and bottled at barrel strength. Available in limited quantities on Black Friday, Nov. 25, Hard Truth’s Sweet Mash Rye will retail at $69.95.
It is the first release in what will become a series of sweet mash whiskeys that Hard Truth offers. Over the next few years, Hard Truth will introduce whiskeys from four unique rye mash bills and four unique bourbon mash bills, bringing a variety of flavor profiles to market.
“We’re on the forefront of a new era of whiskey-making as sweet mash pioneers here in the state of Indiana, ” said Hard Truth Master Distiller Bryan Smith.
“There’s a small, but mighty group of distillers making sweet mash whiskey and celebrating this innovative way of making whiskey. I feel honored and proud to be in such great company,” Smith added, nodding to the quality whiskeys they are creating.
Most whiskeys are produced using a sour mash method — a process that uses leftover mash from previous distillations in each new batch of whiskey. Historically, this was done out of necessity because the high acidity of the leftover mash helps ensure no bacterial contamination or other infection in the new batches.
Advances in distilling systems and sanitization processes, however, have made sweet mash — a process where each new batch starts entirely fresh — not only a possibility, but an exciting way to create whiskeys with characteristics unique to the method.
“The standard sour mash process can mute some amazingly complex and pleasant grain flavors that the sweet mash process tends to highlight. It’s a more expensive and labor intensive process to make whiskey this way, but the final product speaks for itself,” explained Smith. “Our sweet mash rye whiskey has a layered and complex flavor profile and the sweetness of the grain features more prominently on the palate. Most people expect savory and spicy only from a rye whiskey, but with our sweet mash, expect bright fruit, complex brown sugar and mocha with baking spice in the finish."
Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye is a deep, clear mahogany color with an aroma featuring bright notes of mocha, nutmeg, and ripe orchard fruit. It offers rich toffee, brown sugar, and peach flavors that envelop the palate, and the finish is smooth with lingering notes of chocolate, oak, and pepper.
“Authenticity is at the core of our whiskey making which is why we are bottling our sweet mash rye whiskey at barrel strength, uncut and unfiltered — a true expression of our whiskey making,” Smith explained. “Our Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye wasn’t dreamt up in a boardroom or around a corporate table — it was made from dream to bottle, right here on these 325 acres. You can come visit us, meet the makers, see it being made, taste it, and experience Hard Truth in a very real and up-close way. We are hardworking, real people, making incredibly innovative, high-quality whiskey, and that passion for hard work and making a quality product resonates with people.”
Available in 750 mL bottles, Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye whiskey Batch #001 is bottled at barrel strength — 115.2 proof with a 57.6 percent ABV. Bottles will be available for purchase on the Hard Truth campus and in select retailers throughout Hard Truth’s distribution area with a suggested retail price of $69.95 plus tax.
“We are so very pleased with our whiskey at this younger age and are incredibly excited about sharing future releases as the whiskey gets older,” said Smith.

Kavalan Launches 'Triple Sherry Cask'
TAIPEI, Nov. 8, 2021 - Kavalan has launched its Triple Sherry Cask, a rare combination of Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Moscatel-aged casks with Kavalan's velvety texture and signature sweetness.
Pedro Ximénez is known as the king of sweet sherry and Moscatel is the queen of sweet sherry.
"This is the first time we've combined our whisky in three different sherry casks. It's all about multiplying and enriching the sherry flavours to make a distinct whisky that has dried fruits, rich caramel, sweet maltose and tropical fruits as its profile," said CEO Mr YT Lee.
After fully maturing in three sherry casks, Triple Sherry Cask showcases a three-stage balancing craft in the marrying vats. The process allows the three whiskies, each fully matured in the three different sherry casks to rest and meld together in perfect fusion, locking in optimal smoothness.
"During this process, the flavours collide through a myriad combination of the three sherry cask whiskies, creating up to 9 distinct sherry dimensions. With its main character the dried fruits of the Oloroso cask, Triple Sherry is embellished with the sweetness of PX and Moscatel casks," said Senior Blender Zerose Yang.
Like a smooth flamenco dance, its notes of cinnamon, candied smoked plum, and citrus, layered with berry, tropical fruit, and longan aromas, with a dash of honey, chocolate, and toffee playfully tease the taste buds.
The packaging design breaks with the past, visually connecting the taste and aroma of the liquid for the first time. The fluid painting intertwined with white, gold, and red colours, which symbolises the multilayered and smooth taste of triple sherry cask whisky. Also it presents the combination of the colour of new make, whisky and sherry wine. Underscored on the tin capsule is a double silver line, symbolising the Central Mountain and Snow Mountain ranges surrounding Kavalan Distillery.
The new 700ml, 40% ABV Kavalan will appear first on shelves in France, Canada, Japan, Singapore, China, Australia, New Zealand and Guam at a RRP of NT$2,300.

Dry Town® Gin hand-selected ten botanicals then soaked them for 18 hours and vapor extracted which delivers a more citrus and sage-forward Gin rather than the usual tasting notes of pine. Their portfolio speaks for itself; it is where craft meets quality.

Dubbed the George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend, this union perfectly balances two different styles of rye whisky: Leopold Bros' celebrated Three Chamber Rye and our George Dickel never-before-released traditional column still rye. The result is a rare, historically inspired blend of straight rye whiskies that is reminiscent of an era when heavy-bodied rye whiskies were served at bars and saloons across America.
"When you look back at official records for Three Chamber Rye Whiskies, they weren't just sold as is, but they were also blended together with column still whiskies," said Todd Leopold, Founder at Leopold Bros. "It feels fitting our rare rye release combines this historic style with something new from George Dickel. We hope whisky fans will enjoy this take on an American classic and inspire the resurgence of rare rye whisky."
"At the core of both George Dickel and Leopold Bros is a shared spirit of commitment to producing quality and distinctly delightful whisky," said Nicole Austin, General Manager and Distiller at Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. "I've been a personal fan of Leopold Bros for years, and it's why I'm thrilled to collaborate with Todd and his team. I'm also particularly excited this partnership will mark the first time people will be able to enjoy a rye whisky distilled at Cascade Hollow."
The George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend initially boasts a floral nose of lavender, elderflower and rose balanced by sweet hints of maple syrup, marshmallow and cocoa. On the palate, rosewater, blackberries, caramel, lavender, fig and citrus are present followed by a finish combining earl gray, honey and cocoa. At 100 proof, fans can best enjoy this whisky neat or in a classic cocktail like the Manhattan or Whiskey Sour.
George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend is a highly limited release, one whisky aficionados and collectors will want to get ahold of when they see it. Starting this November, consumers can find the George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend rolling out in select markets across the US for a suggested retail price of $109.99.
No matter how you choose to enjoy the George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend, please remember to drink responsibly.

Vermont Neighbors Harpoon Brewery and WhistlePig Whiskey Team Up For Year Three, Announce "Green Mountain Ryed," a Blended New England Rye IPA Partially Aged in PiggyBack 100% Rye Whiskey Barrels
Blending a barrel-aged Imperial Rye Ale with a New England Rye IPA, these two mainstays of the New England craft alcohol community created a barrel-aged IPA for both beer and whiskey lovers alike
BOSTON, Nov. 2, 2021 - Following the release of two successful barrel-aged collaborations across just as many years, Harpoon Brewery is announcing its third collaboration with WhistlePig Whiskey: Harpoon Green Mountain Ryed— a hop-forward take on a barrel-aged beer.
This "blended" New England Rye IPA marries a barrel-aged Imperial Rye Ale with a New England Rye IPA, both brewed with WhistlePig's own estate-grown Rye. "Barrel-Aged IPAs" can be a tough concept to nail. While time is a friend of barrel-aged beers thanks to greater transfer of flavor from the wood, it is the enemy of IPAs as aging hop oils break down and lose potency. To remedy the situation and create a perfectly balanced liquid, Harpoon elected to brew two base beers and blend them together.
"The history of blending barrel-aged beers goes back centuries, but we've never heard of a beer like this that balances barrel and hops so perfectly," said Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder of Harpoon Brewery. "While working with WhistlePig on this latest release, we wanted to challenge ourselves to create a barrel-aged beer that still drank like a New England IPA. The result is both flavorful and complex – and hopefully gives hop fans and whiskey drinkers something to enjoy together this holiday season."
To create this unique brew, a high-gravity Rye Ale was aged in freshly emptied WhistlePig PiggyBack 100% Rye barrels for 12 weeks, capturing the true essence of whiskey made from 100% Rye. Harpoon then brewed a fresh, heavily dry-hopped New England Rye IPA featuring some classic citrus-heavy hops. After the barrels were emptied, the two were blended into one beer in a 35 aged/65 fresh ratio. The resulting 7% ABV hazy IPA achieves the best of both worlds with super refreshing citrus and tropical fruit notes accompanying that warming, comforting rye whiskey spice.
"We had worked with Harpoon to craft barrel-aged beers in the past, but it was a unique challenge to pick the right barrel for something like a hazy IPA. Our PiggyBack 100% Rye Whiskey is made with a mashbill of 100% Rye and has these wonderful notes of both citrus and spice that seemed like a great pairing for tropical or citrusy hops. We couldn't be happier with Green Mountain Ryed – it's a one-of-a-kind take on a barrel-aged beer that managed to not sacrifice any of the fresh hopped flavor of the IPA while gently layering in the spice and oak of 100% Rye Whiskey," said Meghan Ireland, Whiskey Blender at WhistlePig.
Harpoon's Green Mountain Ryed is a limited release for the month of November and will be sold in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans. It will also be available on draft starting this month at Harpoon's Boston and Vermont breweries. Visit www.harpoonbrewery.com to learn more.
About Harpoon Brewery:
The Harpoon Brewery was founded in 1986 by beer lovers who wanted more and better beer options. When the Brewery was founded, Harpoon was issued Brewing Permit #001 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, since it was the first to brew commercially in Boston after a dormant period of about 25 years. Harpoon's line of craft beer features its award-winning IPA and seasonal beers, along with special limited releases. In 2014, Harpoon became an employee-owned company.
