Company becomes the First Irish and First Female Founded Business ever to win the award beating competition from all over the world

LONDON, March 31, 2023 - Ireland's first modern Irish Whiskey Bonder J.J. Corry beat out global competition to win the title of World's Best Small Batch Single Malt whiskey for J.J. Corry The Flintlock at the "Whiskey Oscars", prestigious World Whiskies Awards.

The company, founded by Louise McGuane in 2016 in Cooraclare, Co. Clare becomes the first Irish whiskey producer and first female founded business to win the award. Ms. McGuane accepted the award at an awards ceremony hosted at the Merchant Taylor's Guild Hall in London.

On collecting the award, Louise McGuane said: "Winning the world's best small batch single malt is a tremendous accolade and recognition that we play on the global stage with the best whiskey producers in the world. The Flintlock is a perfect encapsulation of what we do as Whiskey Bonders, seeking out superlative Irish whiskies from around the Island and collaborating with our partners from around the world - coopers, distilleries & wineries- to create the most unique whiskies, bottling each adventure for our discerning customers."

McGuane added: "For the Flintlock, we chose a selection of single malt casks from our expansive flavour library, ranging in age from 15 to 19 years old, and vatted them together. We then worked with Casknolia Cooperage in Spain to select Moscatel Sherry seasoned casks in which to marry The Flintlock. The result is a whiskey which is an expression not only of Irish whiskey blending, but also ameliorated by the craft of coopering and the winemaking talent of Jerez."

“We are thrilled to be able to reveal an early look of Bjarke Ingels Group’s design for the new Blue Run Spirits distillery in Georgetown, giving everyone a glimpse at where we are heading in developing a welcoming, unexpected and modern facility with a true focus on sustainability.”

GEORGETOWN, KY.  MARCH 22, 2023 - Blue Run Spirits today revealed the first look at its planned whiskey distillery and headquarters in Georgetown, Kentucky, designed by international architect firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG).

The 35,000-square-foot distillery and a 20,000-square-foot rickhouse will break ground in 2023 at the Lanes Run Business Park. Projected to open in 2025, distillery operations are anticipated to bring at least 45 fulltime jobs to the local economy, which was heralded in a statement by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshears last fall.

“We are thrilled to be able to reveal an early look of Bjarke Ingels Group’s design for the new Blue Run Spirits distillery in Georgetown, giving everyone a glimpse at where we are heading in developing a welcoming, unexpected and modern facility with a true focus on sustainability,” said Blue Run Spirits CEO and cofounder Mike Montgomery. “This will be a game-changing addition to Blue Run’s long-range business plans, allowing us to meet forecasted and unforeseen demand, while also giving our Whiskey Director Shaylyn Gammon and Liquid Advisor Jim Rutledge a home base of operations.”

The design, called “Meander,” is meant to evoke the journey of the limestone-rich water of the Royal Spring in Georgetown as it winds its way through the distilling, aging and blending process to becoming fine Blue Run bourbons and rye whiskeys. As part of the Johnnie Walker First Strides initiative, and in time for the pinnacle of awards season, the brand has crafted a piece of art symbolizing the red carpet in honor of the many women who have broken and continue to break barriers so future generations of women will be seen and celebrated walking the red carpet.

The avant-garde work spotlights seven filmmakers for their boundary-pushing contributions to culture, including:

LOS ANGELES, March 1, 2023- Mortlach Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a treasured spirit from Scotland's Speyside region, partnered with multidisciplinary artist and designer Sebastian ErraZuriz on a new interpretation of the iconic spirit's distillation process through augmented reality, which debuted during Frieze Los Angeles. This collaboration was the final piece in the Six Stills Series, a part of the Mortlach by Design program that featured six different designers who created bespoke products that highlight the unique aspects of Mortlach. The works by Luca Nichetto, Sabine Marcelis, Joe Doucet, Chrissa Amuah, and Felicia Ferrone featured a decanter, bar cart, chair, light fixture and glassware. The craftsmanship and vision these products embody represent the design-centric, heritage spirit Mortlach celebrates.

State of the art. A.I 02/15/23 brought viewers into the Mortlach creation process through three AR sculptures

This enticing project is a blend of technology, science and high quality design, which are all a direct reflection of Mortlach's own unique process. Focusing on three essential steps to whisky-making - The Harvest, The Distillery and The Experience - State of the art. A.I 02/15/23 illuminates Mortlach's distinct approach to distillation, unlike any other spirit for the last 200 years. State of the art. A.I 02/15/23 and Mortlach whisky itself share a similar process of multiple iteration to perfect the craft, resulting in a complex and unmatched output.

Throughout this collaboration, Sebastian was inspired by the mystery and magnetism behind Mortlach's heritage. Defined by its 2.81 distillation process, the only whisky to be made this way, Mortlach has remained a prestige scotch because of the resulting bold flavor without the smoke. Sebastian wanted to mimic this "ghost in the machine" feeling with State of the art. A.I 02/15/23; in order to create the images that guests saw in the installation, he worked with OpenAI's ChatGPT and DALL-E. The iterative process, which included tweaking certain words in the conversations with ChatGPT to adjust the final image in DALL-E, was exploratory and new. These tools are not yet fully understood, especially in the realm of creativity and art, and Sebastian sought to tackle that head on.

"I was drawn to Mortlach's story immediately because of its clear use of science, technology and high quality craftsmanship to create an intricate product," shared designer Sebastian ErraZuriz. "I wanted to create a similar process using the technology of today to create an experience that is unlike any other, and thus reflects Mortlach."

The installation started at the Harvest, which highlighted the specific ingredients that are blended into Mortlach, State of the art. A.I 02/15/23 then flowed into the Distillery, revealing an interpretation of the complex and intricate distillation process that makes Mortlach unique. The final stage of the AR experience then led to the Experience, where consumers aged 21 and over were able to taste the delicious spirit, illuminating the craft of Mortlach.

"Sebastian's AR experience beautifully told the story of Mortlach whisky, and highlighted all the key aspects of what makes Mortlach unique" shares Peter Sundry, Senior Brand Manager of Single Malts for North America at Diageo. A.I 02/15/23 brought the spirit to life like no other and allows viewers to learn the distinct process of the scotch's making, while also appreciating the specific elements that define Mortlach."

Yellowstone's $250,000 donation in 2023 will make it NPCA's largest annual corporate donor

ST. LOUIS, March 1, 2023 The Yellowstone Bourbon brand family announced it has renewed its partnership with the National Parks Conservation Association. As a result of the newly structured partnership, Yellowstone will donate $250,000 – making it NPCA's largest annual corporate donor.*

To celebrate the continued partnership with NPCA, Yellowstone also will release a special-edition NPCA collector's label on bottles of Yellowstone Select Bourbon. The front label includes an illustration of two grizzly bears depicted on the NPCA logo, along with a ribbon in the organization's iconic green. The back label includes a QR code to learn more about Yellowstone's partnership with NPCA. 

Starting during National Park Week in April, 10,000 cases (60,000 bottles) of Yellowstone Select featuring the NPCA collector's label will be available at retail nationwide.

Stephen Beam opened Limestone Branch Distillery in 2011, with the goal of crafting the finest spirits in small batches. Stephen is a seventh-generation distiller with a history of distilling on both sides of his family – Beam and Dant. In 2015, he brought the Yellowstone brand back to the family. The distillery is now home to Yellowstone Select, Yellowstone American Single Malt Whiskey, Yellowstone Limited Edition, Minor Case Rye Whiskey and Bowling & Burch Gin.
