The 2021 Release of Michter's 10 Year Rye

LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 23, 2021 Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee has approved the 2021 release of Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye, which will begin shipping next month.

"I believe that this Michter's 10 Year Rye release showcases how terrific American rye whiskey can be. Twenty years ago it was really challenging to sell rye whiskey, but the whiskey press as well as supporters in the restaurant and the retail segments of our industry have done wonders to power rye's resurgence," said Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco.

This will be the only release of Michter's 10 Year Rye this year. "We wish we had more 10 Year Rye whiskey to share with Michter's fans. Unfortunately, we continue to struggle to meet demand on all of our whiskeys as these expressions require time and attention to detail to reach the peak quality level for which Michter's is known. Despite the limited stocks, we believe Michter's drinkers will be thrilled with the results of this year's efforts," said Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.

Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee commented, "This 10 Year Rye release is a multi-layered whiskey. It's bold, rich, and complex with a beautiful mouth-feel." He added,

"In addition to our new release of 10 Year Rye, one development at Michter's which I'm particularly excited about is the expansion of our Springfield Farm and Operations from 145 to 205 acres. This will allow us to produce more estate grown grain for distillation and bring more wonderful whiskeys to our fans everywhere."

The suggested U.S. retail price per 750ml bottle of Michter's 10 Year Rye is $170.

Michter's makes highly acclaimed, limited production whiskeys. Black Bourbon Society's Maker's Mark Private Selection: Recipe 2 was named Best Bourbon and Best American Whiskey overall at the 12th annual International Whisky Competition (IWC), bringing in two first place gold medals – the competition's highest category honor.

The IWC awards mark the latest achievements in a string of high-profile wins for Black Bourbon Society and Maker's Mark. Black Bourbon Society was awarded a Double Gold medal for its first Maker's Mark Private Selection Bourbon at the 19th Annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) in 2019, while Maker's Mark took home its own Double Gold medal for its classic Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon at the same competition in 2021.

Gordon & MacPhail Introduces the World's Oldest Single Malt Scotch Whisky: Generations 80YO From Glenlivet Distillery Presented in Partnership With Sir David Adjaye Obe

ELGIN, Scotland, June 15, 2021 - Whisky creator Gordon & MacPhail is set to release the world's oldest single malt Scotch whisky this September - an 80-Years-Old from Glenlivet Distillery - in partnership with Sir David Adjaye OBE.

On 3rd February 1940 in a quiet corner in the north of Scotland, George Urquhart and his father, John, had the extraordinary foresight and vision to lay down spirit from Glenlivet Distillery in a bespoke Gordon & MacPhail cask to be enjoyed by future generations.

Referred to by renowned whisky writer Charlie MacLean as 'the father of single malt', George Urquhart passionately believed that each whisky should be left to mature until the cask and spirit had combined to create the desired quality, and it was ready to be shared. The time for Cask 340 was to be 80 years – longer than any other Scotch whisky in history.

On 5th February 2020, leaning on the unique skill and experience acquired over more than 125 years, the decision was taken to finally bottle the cask's precious out-turn, yielding a total of 250 decanters.

"That this whisky - the oldest single malt Scotch ever bottled - remains so full of vibrant flavour with a strength of 44.9% ABV, is testimony to knowledge handed down over successive generations of my family," explains Stephen Rankin, Director of Prestige at Gordon & MacPhail Whiskies, and member of the fourth generation of the family that owns the company.

For over 125 years, Gordon & MacPhail has been driven by a simple mission: to create single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality. Sir David Adjaye's stunning decanter and case will be revealed in September 2021, with decanter number #1 auctioned by Sotheby's in early October 2021. To continue the legacy theme, auction proceeds, minus costs, will be donated to award-winning Scottish charity Trees for Life whose mission is to rewild the Caledonian Forest.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. – (June 15, 2021) – Ole Smoky Distillery, one of the nation’s fastest growing spirits companies, announced the launch of their small-batch premium whiskey brand today with their first expression honoring family ties, James Ownby Reserve Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey.


The 94-proof whiskey is aged in American virgin charred oak barrels and filtered utilizing the Lincoln County Process, passing through sugar maple charcoal before aging. Less than 200 barrels of James Ownby Reserve will be released this month.

The whiskey commemorates the remarkable history and spirit of James Ownby - the 5th generation great-grandfather of Ole Smoky Distillery’s Founder, Joe Baker, handing down a family tradition.


“James Ownby lived a life so epic we still tell his tale. A son of the revolution, a soldier - he was dedicated to his country. He enlisted at 17 and served six tours of duty throughout his esteemed military career. James fearlessly fought for our young country’s freedom, for his beliefs and for a better way of life. His most notable service came as a member of the renowned ‘Overmountain Men’ regiment under the command of Colonel John Sevier in the Battle of Kings Mountain – the
battle which Thomas Jefferson fittingly deemed ‘The turn of the tide of success,’ in the Revolutionary War,” said Baker.


In the late 1800s, James set down roots in East Tennessee, just a stone’s throw from where Ole Smoky operates the distillery today on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Ownby family became known as one of the original families who settled in the area and brought their knowledge of distilling.


“James Ownby Reserve pays tribute to my family’s heritage and legacy,” said Baker. “This new brand embodies our creativity and commitment to creating small-batch whiskey and the team at Ole Smoky is proud to bring the product to market.”

For Cascade Hollow Distilling Co.'s General Manager and Distiller, Nicole Austin, creating Dickel Bourbon was an opportunity to showcase the amazing, mature whiskies at the distillery. At the same time, it allowed the brand to give a home to those barrels that leaned into more traditional bourbon notes and did not express the Tennessee Whiskey tasting characteristics found in the rest of the George Dickel offerings. When she was creating the ultimate blend for Dickel Bourbon, Nicole sampled thousands of barrels in the distillery's inventory before selecting the final liquid. The result is a handcrafted, small-batch bourbon that's been blended to perfection.

"At Cascade Hollow, we have a lot of whiskies that exemplify the Tennessee Whiskey style, but we also have inventory that has a lot more in common with bourbon as we understand it in America," said Nicole Austin, General Manager and Distiller at Cascade Hollow Distilling Co. "Dickel Bourbon is an opportunity for us to finally share this quality liquid with the rest of the world. I'm particularly proud that we have the kind of mature whisky inventory that can deliver an 8-year-old bourbon. Dickel Bourbon boasts sweet initial notes of vanilla leading into bright hints of cherry and orange before being balanced by almond toffee and oak. While the liquid is approachable and balanced, it does also have some complexity due to it being aged 8 years. At 90 proof, bourbon fans can best enjoy Dickel Bourbon neat or on the rocks, in addition to mixing it into some of their favorite cocktails like an Old Fashioned.

While many of the brand's Tennessee Whiskeys also meet the criteria to be called bourbons, George Dickel will continue to label its other permanent offerings as Tennessee Whiskey since the liquid's bold tasting characteristics are more closely related to that style. On the other hand, Nicole and the team chose to label Dickel Bourbon as a bourbon due to the final liquid offering a perfectly balanced combination of vanilla, oak, fruit and spice – the tasting profile most closely associated with traditional bourbon – without any one of them rising above the other.

George Dickel has a proven track record of producing quality whiskies that consumers trust.   • 1.5 oz Dickel Bourbon
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 0.25 oz. bitters
  • 1 splash water

Hard Truth Distilling Co., in Southern Indiana Celebrates Official Class Designation of Indiana Rye Whiskey with July 3 Release Event

Commemorative event coincides with Indiana legislature’s plan to sign designation into law in July 2021

NASHVILLE, IND. (June 11, 2021) – Hard Truth Distilling Co., a destination craft distillery located on 325-acres in southern Indiana, announces today the release of its Hard Truth Indiana Straight Rye Whiskey. Available starting Saturday, July 3, this rye whiskey is a unique, custom blend of rye barrels, hand-selected by Hard Truth’s master distiller and bottled at their state-of-the art craft distillery in Brown County, Ind.

This release coincides with the State of Indiana’s official Indiana Rye Whiskey designation, slated to be signed into law in July 2021. The new designation follows the federal requirements for rye whiskey — 51 percent rye in the grain bill, distilled at no greater than 160 proof, placed in a barrel at no more than 125 proof — then adds the Indiana-specific requirements that it be mashed, fermented, distilled, and then rested at least two years in the state of Indiana.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Hard Truth will be hosting an event at the Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center on its Brown County campus on Saturday, July 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guests are invited to come sample the new rye, enjoy live music and rye cocktails, sign a commemorative poster, and more. Hard Truth master distiller Bryan Smith will also be onsite from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to autograph bottles.

Hard Truth Indiana Straight Rye Whiskey greets drinkers with a rich aroma featuring hints of vanilla and brown sugar, baking spices, dill, oak, orchard fruit and pear blossom. The taste offers crème brûlée, honey, vanilla, citrus, and black peppercorn, leading into a warm, dry, and lingering finish with nots of caramelized sugar, praline pecan, dill, oak, and pepper.

BARDSTOWN, Ky., June 11, 2021 - On National Bourbon Day, the distilleries of Bardstown, Kentucky came together to announce a collaborative project that further establishes the region as the Bourbon Capital of the World. Heaven Hill, James B Beam Distilling Co, Bardstown Bourbon Company, Preservation and Log Still distilleries have joined together to release a one-of-a-kind bourbon series celebrating their Bardstown heritage, coming this September. All proceeds from the release will be donated to the Bardstown community.

"You can truly feel the magic of our bourbon culture and heritage come alive when working on this special release," said Samantha Brady, executive director of Bardstown Tourism. "We are trademarked as the "Bourbon Capital of the World," but when distilleries unite to authenticate your claim; you don't get much better than that. There are eleven distillery experiences within sixteen miles of Bardstown and on National Bourbon Day each Master Distiller stood together to announce this collective project. Each distiller committed to selecting a premium bourbon to represent their company's best, bottled in custom packaging that celebrates the community and the history of Bardstown.

"My family's been in the area for generations, and we've always considered Bardstown our home," shared Freddie Noe IV, 8th Generation Distiller for James B Beam Distilling Co. "Not just because most of us have lived here, but because we're part of the community. So when this idea was brought to us, it was a no brainer. We're honored to join our fellow bourbon distillers in coming together for a good cause – and great bourbon."

The shared bottle design features iconic images from Bardstown, such as The My Old Kentucky Home museum and will be packaged within a gold-embossed, navy blue box featuring an ornate compass and a detailed graphic of the region's topography. The box also includes a moleskin booklet describing the product and process of every distillery.

"A collaboration like this has never been done within the bourbon industry," shared Dan Callaway, vice president of hospitality and product development for Bardstown Bourbon Company. "It is remarkable to be part of the camaraderie and collaboration between so many Bardstown brands."

The project will be bottled at Bardstown Bourbon Company's new 55,000 square foot bottling facility, then made available for purchase exclusively on-site at each distillery's visitors center in September. The releases will be scheduled so that guests will have an opportunity to visit each location to purchase their bottle.

In celebration of the "In the Heights" film premiere and after party, Crown Royal will be showing up at local Washington Heights bars and restaurants with up to ten additional Generosity Hours, two of which will feature live performances by Ari Lennox and Masego. Attendees can eat, drink and enjoy live music all in the name of generosity.

Once inside, guests will be giving back all night long to those in the hospitality industry whether it's by taking a picture in the photo booth or ordering from the food truck at the event – with each additional act unlocking another $1 donation.

Additionally, throughout the two weeks of the Tribeca Festival (June 9 -20), for every qualifying photo of a cocktail uploaded from a Crown Royal Generosity Hour event using #GenerosityHourDonation and every qualifying comment during the live stream of the musical performances from Crown Royal Generosity Hour events using #GenerosityHourDonation, Crown Royal will donate an additional $1 to the organization. Collectively, Crown Royal will donate up to $100,000 to the Washington Heights Business Improvement District with the donation being used to provide direct financial relief to hospitality and small business workers adversely affected by COVID-19/Coronavirus.
