Release of Michter's Toasted Barrel Finish Rye
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 27, 2020- In September Michter's Distillery will be releasing a limited amount of US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye.
"The reception that our Toasted Barrel Finish whiskeys have received is a result of tremendously focused work done by our production team led by Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. Despite the continuing shortages across all our whiskey stocks, we really wanted to make some of our rye available for this special release," said Joseph J. Magliocco, Michter's President.
Michter's Toasted Barrel Finish Rye is made by taking fully matured Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye at barrel strength and then further aging it in a second custom barrel made to the specifications set by Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. She commented, "For this 2020 release, we selected rye barrels aged to peak quality and then dumped each barrel, with the contents of each single barrel being put in a second single barrel assembled from 24 month naturally seasoned and air dried wood. The second barrel was custom toasted to extract characters to create a rich and decadent rye whiskey experience." The average barrel proof for the toasted rye barrels bottled for this release is 109.2. Master Distiller Dan McKee remarked, "This is a whiskey that you really can sip and savor."
The suggested Retail Price of Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye is $85 for a 750ml bottle in the U.S.
Beyond its main distillery in the Shively section of Louisville, Michter's operations extend to two other sites in Kentucky. In Springfield, Michter's is farming estate grown grain on its 145-acre property, while in downtown Louisville, Michter's has its second distillery in the historic Fort Nelson building. Situated in a prime location on West Main Street opposite Louisville Slugger and on the same block as the Frazier Museum, Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery features the legendary pot still system from Michter's Pennsylvania Distillery. When open, it also has educational tours with whiskey tastings as well as The Bar at Fort Nelson, which features classic cocktails curated by spirits and cocktail historian David Wondrich.

Blade and Bow 22-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Returns with Limited Re-Release to Commemorate the Stitzel-Weller Distillery's 85th Anniversary
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 25, 2020 In celebration of the historic opening of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery 85 years ago, Blade and Bow has re-released its rare and limited 22-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon. An ode to the distinctive distillers who set the standard for crafting exceptional bourbon, this award-winning whiskey is the latest release from the famed distillery and will be available in 12 states as well as at Stitzel-Weller itself.
"We are honored to call the Stitzel-Weller Distillery home to Blade and Bow bourbons, and to play a part in preserving the careful craftsmanship and unique artistry that was established and perfected within these walls," said Meghan Redler, Brand Manager for Blade and Bow. "Releasing Blade and Bow 22-Year-Old this year during Bourbon Heritage Month allows us to pay homage to this historic distillery with our finest liquid."
This coveted re-release is available just in time for this celebratory month, which was originally created to emphasize the significance of bourbon being America's "Native Spirit." The month-long celebration aims to highlight the heritage, craftsmanship, tradition and achievements that the bourbon industry has contributed to the United States. As the most recently aged and bottled bourbon at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, which includes some of the last bourbon produced there before it closed in 1992, and inspired by the passion of its original creators, Blade and Bow's 22-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon makes for the perfect bottle to commemorate the occasion.
"Beginning with a pronounced nose reminiscent of toasted oak layered with vanilla bean, figs and a light touch of dark caramel, this limited-release bourbon's taste is accented with notes of torched sugar and apples baked in honey and spices," said Doug Kragel, Lead Educator for Blade and Bow. "With the rich history of the Stitzel-Weller distillery palpable in every sip, Blade and Bow 22-Year-Old is truly the perfect nod to the days of bourbon past."
Embodying the one-of-a-kind artistry that has been produced by Stitzel-Weller's rich traditions, the rarity of Blade and Bow's 22-Year-Old has created a cult-like following, drawing in consumers who are looking to taste a bit of the past. Blade and Bow 22-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey will be available in limited quantities beginning in September in the following states: California, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, New York, South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Washington, D.C., Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. That is why today Bulleit is announcing the creation of the Bulleit Frontier Fund, with an initial commitment of $250,000 over the next year to support the North American hospitality industry. To kick things off, donation recipients will include such worthy organizations as The USBG National Charity Foundation, Another Round, Another Rally and Southern Smoke Foundation.
In conjunction with the fund, Bulleit is launching a new national creative campaign that will live across TV, digital and social, starring real bartenders putting their skills to work in unexpected ways as they wait to get back behind the bar. Bulleit has partnered with acclaimed director, Lucy Forbes, to direct the new ad campaign from behind the camera. Known for her unique perspective on the comedy genre and challenging the status quo, Forbes is one of the leading voices of the new generation of comedy directors.
"Bulleit was built thanks to the support of the bartender community and those in the hospitality industry. And, with this new campaign, we are excited to not only help them with our charitable initiatives, but also to celebrate them and their unique skills." said Sophie Kelly, Sr. Vice President of Whiskey at Diageo North America. "We hope to return the support that our friends have given to us over the years and to keep them pouring!"
"The United States Bartenders Guild is an integral resource for bartenders throughout the nation and works to empower all of those who elect careers within the hospitality industry." said USBG Executive Director Aaron Gregory Smith. "Through valued partnerships and support from programs like the Bulleit Frontier Fund, the USBG National Charity Foundation is able to continue providing support to thousands of the more than 700,000+ US bartenders who are experiencing emergency hardship during this time."
Bulleit will also be announcing a variety of actions to further support those in the bartending and hospitality industry, including a #BulleitBarSkills content series, a partnership with Sourced Craft Cocktails and the continuation of the brand's educational platform, Frontier Bartender Labs.
With the #BulleitBarSkills content series, Bulleit is partnering with the USBG to recruit bartenders from across the country to help consumers elevate their at-home cocktail-making skills. The bartending industry is challenged by COVID-related closures, and many are currently out of work. These bartenders will share unique cocktail recipes and the stories behind them, while giving consumers techniques and tips. The recipe demos will be available for consumers to view on the @Bulleit Instagram channel.
For folks who want to conveniently make their drinks at home, they can order freshly made cocktails from their phone to their door through Sourced Craft Cocktails (in select markets where available). Sourced Craft Cocktails supports the bartending community by getting out of work bartenders back to their trade by making these cocktails and delivering them directly to a consumer. Bulleit is a proud partner of Sourced Craft Cocktails and, soon, consumers will even be able to have a Bulleit Ambassador give a Bulleit tasting or cocktail demonstration at their next virtual happy hour.
Recognizing that innovation and change is imperative for the bar and restaurant industry to survive, Bulleit will continue the brand's educational platform -- Frontier Bartender Labs – with a focus on innovation and equipping the bartending community with learnings and insights from mentors, industry leaders and disrupters to help them cultivate new skills and further their careers. The labs include a series of webinars which began in early August and will continue through the Fall.
The announcement of this fund comes on the heels of parent company Diageo's more than $4.5 million commitment and #TipsFromHome social pledge movement to support those in the bartending and hospitality industry, as well as the Bulleit brand's recent #NewDrinkingBuddies creative campaign.
Regardless of how you imbibe, Bulleit reminds consumers 21+ to drink responsibly. To learn more about the Bulleit Frontier Fund, head to Bulleit.com/FrontierFund.

Eighth Generation Beam Distiller Freddie Noe Releases Fourth Chapter Of Little Book® Whiskey Series - "Lessons Honored"
Noe Honors Lessons Learned From His Father, 7th Generation Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe
CLERMONT, Ky., Aug. 20, 2020 Freddie Noe, eighth generation Beam distiller and creator of Little Book® Whiskey, is proud to announce the fourth installment in his annual, limited-release series of blends – Little Book Chapter 4: "Lessons Honored."
Like the previous chapters in the acclaimed Little Book Series, "Lessons Honored" continues to deliver on Noe's passion for creating first-to-world, high-quality blended whiskies, while also honoring the Beam family legacy. Noe's inspiration comes to life in "Lessons Honored," which features three uncut and unfiltered1 American whiskies that bear a connection to his father, 7th Generation Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe, and the pair's shared time working at the James B. Beam Distillery this past decade.
"This year's release is an ode to my dad and the lessons he has passed down to me about bourbon and life, all of which I hope to pass down to my own children," Freddie Noe said. "A lot of them go back to honesty and integrity. He taught me to be true to myself, which is something that's very important in our family, and to know when to slow down and be patient. Dad's values carry over into our whiskey brands, and I'm proud to honor him with this special blend."
Expertly blending a 4-year-old Kentucky Straight Brown Rice Bourbon, an 8-year-old Kentucky Straight "high rye" Rye Whiskey and a 7-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Freddie Noe achieves a unique and well-composed whiskey with no one component overpowering another.
- The Kentucky Straight Brown Rice Bourbon, which delivers complex notes of oak and fruit to the blend, reminds Freddie of the first distilling project he handled on his own, after years and experiences under Fred's guidance.
- The "high rye" Rye Whiskey is an ode to Booker's Rye®, an award-winning product created in 2017 and one of the first commemorative releases that Fred and Freddie tasted and selected together. This component lends a sweetness paired with rye spice that lingers across the entire palate.
- The extra aged Kentucky Straight Bourbon rounds out the blend with rich flavors reminiscent of Beam's Small Batch Bourbon Collection and preferred by Fred. Though he didn't know it at the time, Fred actually helped select this final component when Freddie sought his opinion on several different samples.
"Going into the selection and blending process for this year's release, I had a very clear idea of how I wanted to honor my dad and the story I wanted to tell with this whiskey," Freddie Noe explained. "I knew right away these were the whiskies I wanted to work with, so I spent most of my time perfecting the blend to balance the flavors to create a whiskey that would make Dad proud. I think I did just that – all the way down to the blue neck tag which represents our favorite sports team, the Kentucky Wildcats."
Little Book® "Lessons Honored" was developed by Freddie Noe with the following characteristics:
- Blend Overview:
- 4-year-old Kentucky Straight Brown Rice Bourbon
- 8-year-old Kentucky Straight "high rye" Rye Whiskey
- 7-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Proof: 122.8
- Tasting Notes: Little Book "Lessons Honored" features flavors of full-bodied brown sugar, rich charred wood and dried cherries. The finish is soft and decadent, leaving a warm caramel taste on your tongue, followed by a spicy finish.
- Sipping Suggestions: Little Book "Lessons Honored" is best enjoyed neat or over ice.
Little Book "Lessons Honored" will be available nationwide in limited quantities beginning in August 2020 with a Suggested Retail Price of $124.99 for a 750mL bottle.
