FRANKFORT, Ky., Oct. 26, 2023-- Buffalo Trace Distillery today announces the release of Eagle Rare 25, an ultra-aged bourbon that exemplifies the Distillery's relentless commitment to innovation and honoring tradition but embracing change. At 25 years old, Eagle Rare 25 marks the oldest expression released from the Eagle Rare portfolio. Defying existing perception of ultra-aged bourbon with its smooth, complex flavor profile, Eagle Rare 25 is a remarkable result from the World's Most Award-winning Distillery's multi-decade and $20-million-dollar-plus experimental program.

Driven by a belief that the world's best whiskey has yet to be created and the idea that the category is bound only by the ideas that have yet to be considered, Buffalo Trace Distillery has conducted thousands of experiments over the years to test a variety of factors impacting the aging and maturation of whiskey, including barrel char levels, temperature, airflow, light, barrel placement, and more. Eagle Rare 25 is the first release from Warehouse P, one of Buffalo Trace Distillery's two experimental warehouses. A purpose-built, state-of-the-art warehouse, Warehouse P was constructed to test if it was possible to extend favorably both the aging and maturation processes typical for American whiskey and bourbon. 

"Eagle Rare 25 defies the conventional limits of typical bourbon aging," remarked Buffalo Trace Distillery Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley. "When crafting whiskey in conditions like those we experience in Kentucky, two reactions happen over time: more liquid is lost due to evaporation – also known as angel's share - and extraction of flavors from the barrel becomes more intense, often leading older whiskeys to taste over-oaked, astringent, and dry. The unique set of aging conditions in Warehouse P has allowed us to create a 25-year-old bourbon that smooths out the extractions and highlights the desirable flavors found in ultra-aged American whiskey products."

While time in the barrel contributes to creating an ultra-aged bourbon, it is the marriage of age and maturity, or how factors including oak type, barrel char, temperature, humidity, and barrel placement alter the whiskey over time, that creates a truly outstanding taste experience.

"We closely monitored Eagle Rare 25 throughout the aging process and discovered that the impact over time due to controlled, extended aging was optimally mature whiskey – by that, I mean whiskey that is uniquely smooth and complex with deep, mature flavors around every corner," Wheatley added. "Eagle Rare 25 is unlike any other extra-aged bourbon on the market today. We are quite proud of this bourbon."

Eagle Rare 25 boasts notes of intense cherry, oak, dark chocolate, and an icing drizzle beginning on the nose; the palate is a balance of vanilla, dark fruit, and butterscotch, followed by an extremely long finish with lingering notes of rickhouse floor, baking spice, and black pepper.

Eagle Rare 25 was bottled upon reaching its silver anniversary in the barrel, symbolized by the custom sterling silver wing hand-hammered to encase each hand-blown crystal decanter perfectly. Opening the custom display box reveals an eagle's outstretched wings framing the 101-proof bourbon, which also contains an elegant glass eagle inside the bottle. This dramatic presentation is befitting the exceptional nature of this rare, first-of-its-kind bottling.

Bruce, like his grandfather Jimmy, prefers bold bourbon flavors, which come through in the 12-year bourbon he selected for the blend. Eddie has a penchant for a softer honeyed, vanilla-laden flavor that typically comes from older bourbons, such as his 15-year-old selection and the 14-year-old whiskey he and Bruce picked together. Jimmy stayed true to his palate, as he has for decades, by selecting a nine-year-old bourbon consistent with the classic Wild Turkey profile. While each of the Russells have slightly different tastes and preferences, they share the highest standards of quality for workmanship. The meticulously blended final bourbon seamlessly merges whiskies from the distillery's finest barrels, capturing the heart and spirit of the Russell family.

Generations is a tribute to one of the most iconic families in bourbon-making. Jimmy Russell, the longest-tenured, active Master Distiller in the global spirits industry and an instrumental figure in shaping Kentucky bourbon as it exists today, started the family tradition when he began working at Wild Turkey distillery in 1954. He soon began to teach his son Eddie, then a union worker, the craft. Eddie was a quick study who rose through the ranks and was inducted into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame in 2010, joining his father who earned the prestigious recognition in 2001. Before long, Eddie's son, Bruce, became involved with the business, first as an ambassador and recently as a blender. As Associate Blender, Bruce spends his days tending to bourbons and ryes from the fabled Wild Turkey rickhouses, then blending to achieve new flavor profiles, bringing his own approach to the teachings and techniques passed down through the family.

"From the moment Jimmy, Bruce and I started talking about Generations, I knew we had something incredibly special on our hands," said Wild Turkey Master Distiller Eddie Russell. Generations is a 120.8-proof blend that showcases sweet notes of vanilla, caramel and dark cherry that give way to warm notes of pepper and aged oak. An aroma of oak and vanilla is followed by floral and spice notes with hints of baked apple, toffee and cloves. The unique combination of aromas and flavors caps off with a finish of dark fruit and baking spice with lingering notes of sweet toffee and oak.

This year, the Baltimore distillery is making things a little easier for its Whiskey Thieves, as those fans are known, by offering them a chance to purchase in advance and skip the line on release day, Sat., November 11.

This year's release, a 3.5-year-old iteration of Sagamore Spirit's fully grain to glass, MD-made rye whiskey, will go on advance sale to Sagamore Spirit's opt-in Whiskey Thieves online on Weds., November 1 at 10 a.m. Two hundred early birds will get a limited edition three-pack of 200ml bottles – one to sip, one to share, one to savor – for $17.01 on a first-come, first served basis. Each three-pack will also include a special engraved Whiskey Thieves Glencairn. The three packs and glasses will be available for pick up at Sagamore Spirit's waterfront distillery during regular hours of operation starting on Sat., November 11.

For the rest of the brand's faithful fans – Sagamore Spirit's November 11 Penny's Proof release event, an annual Baltimore tradition, will have fun and camaraderie to spare. Whiskey Thieves can line up at the distillery at 301 East Cromwell St. to purchase one of the 397 three-packs for only one penny – a nod to the distillery's gleaming, 40-foot-tall copper column still.

DALLAS, Oct. 25, 2023 - Today, Grammy-winning, multi-platinum superstar, Michael Bublé, announces the launch of Fraser & Thompson, his new whiskey brand in partnership with longtime friend and award-winning Master Distiller and Blender Paul Cirka. Michael took to social media to share the news, as if a project three years in the making could come together with just the push of a button. The plan is to support the brand with an integrated marketing campaign to be announced soon, assuming Michael has enough time within his schedule of touring, squeezing in a mid-day nap, and knotting the perfect bow tie (it's harder than it looks).

This North American Whiskey - a first for the whiskey category, brought to market by fast-growing spirits incubator WES Brands - blends and bottles Canadian Whiskies with Kentucky Bourbon in Bardstown, KY.

This whiskey is a triumph, an achievement, the product of years of hard work and collaborative efforts involving dozens of beverage alcohol professionals, yet we haven't received much more than a winking emoji from Mr. Bublé when asked how we should advertise it. It strikes us as supremely ironic that a guy with such an extensive catalog of music has mastered radio silence. We toyed with the idea of constructing an attractive, well-dressed scarecrow stuffed with hay next to a tape recorder playing "Haven't Met You Yet," but the coincidental sentiment felt too on-the-nose for our marketing team, whose calls keep getting bounced between assistants. Through the grapevine, we hear that it's "fine :)," "everything will work out" and "have you tried meditating?"

At some point, from somewhere, he released this very nice statement that we'd like to share with you now:

"I spent many summers with my grandfather at the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson rivers in British Columbia," said Fraser & Thompson founder Michael Bublé. "When I heard Paul's vision for creating a new kind of whiskey, I knew instantly what I wanted to call it. For the last three years, we worked together to perfect a whiskey blend that is equally elegant and approachable. We can't wait to pour you a glass!"

Isn't that great? As if Michael is just the salt of the earth, sitting on a porch somewhere talking to the neighbors, and pouring you a glass of his smooth, delicious whiskey? This overbooked, overextended, sentient tuxedo of a man is thousands of miles away telling us, "Easy, now," like he's gone fishin' instead of playing sold out shows in a new city every night.

Regardless of any personal feelings for this still-buffering campaign, Fraser & Thompson is genuinely fantastic. The creative blending process curated by award-winning Master Distiller and Blender Paul Cirka, co-founder of the brand with Bublé, sets Fraser & Thompson apart. Cirka hand-selected aged liquid to blend into an inviting whiskey, with sweet fig and blood orange on the nose, and a subtle finish of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of spice.

I mean, sure, we have one of the best voices of our time as a face for this campaign, but we could let the whiskey speak for itself, I suppose. And this Cirka character sounds like an upstanding guy.

The Tasting Room will offer three distinct educational experiences ranging from $25-35 per person and last up to 40 minutes.

The Collaborative Series Experience showcases some of the most innovative and complex whiskies on the market, discovering the influence of barrel finishing in partnership with leading producers in a variety of spirits categories. The Origin Experience showcases the brand’s 100 percent estate-distilled flagship products. The Art of Blending Experience explores the sensory characteristics of the unique bourbons of the Discovery Series, studying the aroma, flavor, and finish.

As the American Single Malt category continues to explode, with year-over-year sales growing at a remarkable double-digit rate1, Cataleja Texas Single Malt emerges as a symbol of the innovative spirit that has been the bedrock of this booming new category.

"Cataleja Texas Single Malt is one of the most complex and unique whiskies we've made. It's a testament to the Balcones commitment to exploration, experimentation, and an unyielding dedication to our craft," said Jared Himstedt, head distiller at Balcones Distilling. Made with 100% Golden Promise Malted Barley, this single malt began its maturation journey in barrels previously used to age Kentucky bourbon, and after three years of the Texas climate's concentrating effects, was transferred into decommissioned Sherry Solera casks that were meticulously hand-selected from various Spanish bodegas (wine cellars): Moscatel, Amontillado Dulce, Oloroso and Palo Cortado. Because the first fill showcased the wonderfully high impact of the 80+ year old casks, the whisky was transferred back into neutral barrels and then followed with two additional rounds of refill single malts through the decommissioned casks, as they continued to provide sherry impact alongside the delicate malt character.

"Cataleja Texas Single Malt is an ode to whisky makers of the past - it is our way of honoring the makers who've come before us and using the best of the techniques and the ingredients that they had at their disposal," said Himstedt. SINGAPORE, Oct. 25, 2023  The Grande Whisky Museum (TGWM) proudly announces its remarkable achievement of two Guinness World Record titles. The museum has been awarded the titles for the "Most Valuable Whisky/Whiskey Collection" valued at SGD 128,630,196 and the "Most Valuable Bottle of Whisky/Whiskey" valued at SGD 3,621,582. To commemorate this extraordinary milestone, a Guinness World Records official adjudicator will be flying into Singapore on the 25th of October 2023 to present the official certificates.

Situated in the heart of Suntec City, The Grande Whisky Museum spans an expansive 8,000 sq ft area, where it showcases an exceptional collection of over 7,000 rare and vintage whiskies. This collection includes whiskies from some of the world's oldest and still active distilleries, as well as some from closed distilleries, making TGWM one of the largest private whisky collections accessible to the public.

TGWM's collection is housed behind steel vault doors, lending an air of rarity and intrigue. Recognized by whisky enthusiasts for its auction-worthy special edition sets, the museum features house bottles that rank among the rarest globally. The museum's collection resembles that of an art gallery, with handblown glass bottles, hand-painted porcelain one-run sets, commemorative whiskies in designer crystal bottles, rare finds from closed distilleries, and even bottles signed by Master Blenders and royalty. Due to the exceptional nature of these whiskies, photography is not permitted within the museum.

Designed to offer an interactive and sensory experience, TGWM provides guided tours that take visitors through a maze of interconnected paths, allowing them to explore the whisky-producing regions of Scotland, from the Highlands to Islay, and then to Japan. TGWM's Whisky Ambassadors share lesser-known insights and stories, ranging from Scotland's oldest and most experienced distilleries to the history of whisky production in Japan. The tour concludes with a limited-edition premier champagne collection, providing a fitting end to the immersive 45-minute to 60-minute whisky education. The museum boasts a range of brands from prominent distilleries in each region, with an overwhelming array of whiskies within the vault. After the tour, visitors can participate in a curated Whisky Tasting Experience, featuring a flight of whiskies for sampling and experiencing the diverse flavors from various distilleries.

Visitors have the option to choose from different experiences: Introduction to Whiskies (including a whisky tasting experience) at S$88, Influence of Casks (including a whisky tasting experience) at S$148, and Depth of Whiskies (including a whisky tasting experience) at S$198. These experiences differ in the types, ages, and cask influences of the curated whiskies. Each tasting session, led by TGWM's Whisky Ambassador, lasts for 30-45 minutes, and is limited to groups of 12 to ensure an optimal educational journey for each visitor. TGWM is set to launch a new membership program, with membership tiers ranging from S$5,000 to S$100,000 per person. Members will receive member credits for use in purchasing drinks or bottles from Saint-Louis House, along with special invitations to Master Blender events and opportunities to acquire rare bottles, including those from the TGWM vault, which may be considered for sale at market prices. TGWM regularly collaborates with distilleries to bring renowned Master Blenders from Scotland and Japan to share their expertise and insights with whisky enthusiasts.

When designing the dress, Mohapatra drew inspiration from The Glenlivet's manifesto to "break new ground" and boldly transcend the expected. Bibhu's creation is made from India's finest silks and velvets with detailed embroidery featuring thousands of colorful crystals and sequins, which represent the glittering bursts of fireworks throughout the night sky during Diwali. The dress is adorned with embellishments that are inspired by the boldness of The Glenlivet, incorporates the iconic amber color of single malt scotch whisky and features a message that will inspire the celebration of originality. The full design is tightly under wraps until it debuts at the 2023 New York Diwali Gala.

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 11, 2023- Copper & Cask Spirits has introduced its new Small Batch Series, a line of limited-edition cask strength whiskeys, each crafted by marrying a handpicked selection of stand-out single barrels. The first release, Copper & Cask Small Batch Series No. 001, is an eight-year-old Bourbon made from 13 barrels that were each distilled in Indiana and aged in Florida. With just 2,000 bottles available, this very limited offering is available online in most states beginning today, along with limited availability on shelves.

Since launching in 2021, Copper & Cask has been entirely dedicated to single barrel selections and unique cask-finished releases. Everything is bottled at barrel proof and is limited in nature. Based in Rhode Island, Copper & Cask has put out hundreds of single barrels of Bourbon, High-Rye Bourbon, Rye, special aged selections like 15-year-old Canadian whiskey, and unique cask-finished bottlings. Aged for eight years in the tropical climate of Florida, this Bourbon is dark and layered with rich flavor. On the nose, fruity aromas of cherry and dates come to the surface. Upon sipping, the first impression is the sweet, lively notes of candied grapefruit peel and crystallized honey before giving way to the richer flavors of chocolate ganache and butterscotch. The robust finish lingers, showcasing the decadent caramelized flavors of crème brulee and brown butter.

State-of-the-art Elizabethtown distillery to begin operations July 2024

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky., Oct. 12, 2023 -- Whiskey House of Kentucky announced its state-of-the art distillery will begin operations July 1, 2024. Located on a 176-acre campus in the T.J. Patterson Elizabethtown Hardin County Industrial Park, Whiskey House will be the most sophisticated, technically advanced producer of custom bourbon and American whiskey in the United States. It will invest more than $350 million over the next decade, employing approximately 50 employees in 2024, and expanding to more than 100 employees by 2027. Whiskey House is the first facility designed from the ground up for large-scale, flexible, contract whiskey production.

Founded in 2022 by David Mandell, John Hargrove and Daniel Linde, the team that started and built The Bardstown Bourbon Company, Whiskey House is the first distillery designed from the ground up to focus solely on large-scale, flexible, contract whiskey production. With no brands of its own, Whiskey House provides unparalleled customer service, competitive pricing, and unprecedented visibility into the manufacturing and barrel aging process for its Custom Whiskey Production customers.

Whiskey House's property development plan includes 16, 41,500-barrel traditional rickhouses, a 50,000-square-foot palatized warehouse, a spent grain processing facility, a bottling facility, a rail system, as well as access to one of the highest yielding hydro stratigraphic limestone aquifers in the region, which sits 120 feet below the property. Produced by Vendome Copper & Brass Works, Whiskey House's distilling and processing equipment is built around a 48-inch custom still and 14, 33,000-gallon closed-top fermenters. The company will begin operations with greater than seven million proof gallons of annual capacity (112,000 barrels), expanding to more than 14 million proof gallons (224,000 barrels) in 2027.

As a result of its efforts and vision for the distillery, Whiskey House received a Microsoft for Startups Founder's Hub Grant to accelerate the implementation of AI in all aspects of its manufacturing and distillation process.
