Maker's Mark® Launches New Global Campaign: "Make Your Mark"
Rooted in the brand's legacy of blazing new trails in Bourbon, debut creative prompts fans to break conventional wisdoms in the pursuit of progress
LORETTO, Ky., July 27, 2023 Maker's Mark® Bourbon is proud to announce the launch of its new global brand campaign, "Make Your Mark," which creates a singular lens for all aspects of brand building the world over. The campaign launch is a defining moment as Maker's Mark pursues its ambition to become an iconic global American whisky brand, expanding on its strong leadership position in North America.
"Make Your Mark" is rooted in the brand's purpose-driven mindset and values that have been consistent since its founding in 1953. The campaign serves to inspire others to ask, "what if?" and challenge convention to make their mark in the world, much like Maker's Mark has within the American whiskey industry.
"To us at Maker's Mark, this is more than just a campaign; it's our entire brand ethos and experience," said KK Hall, Global Brand Vice President of Maker's Mark. "When our founders Bill Sr. and Margie Samuels created Maker's Mark in 1953, they didn't just want to make another bourbon – they wanted to make a better bourbon. And they were brave enough to push conventional boundaries to craft something they were proud to share. That spirit lives on in everything we do, and we're excited for the 'Make Your Mark' campaign to be a beacon of this mindset for whisky fans around the world."
"They Say" – the debut film content of the brand campaign – delivers bold, cinematic creative unlike anything else in the American whiskey category, while reinforcing the handmade nature that has always differentiated Maker's Mark. "They Say" offers a cinematic compilation of vignettes showcasing the possibility that awaits when we break from conventional wisdom in pursuit of progress.
Debuting in the United States today, followed by Canada in August and a global rollout in 2024, the hero film will take 30-second, 15-second and six-second forms for use in television, over-the-top media (e.g. Hulu, Roku), online video (e.g. YouTube), digital and social media. The creative was developed by Leo Burnett under the leadership of Executive Creative Director Sam Shepard. "They Say" was directed by award-winning music video and commercial director Henry Scholfield.
"Maker's Mark was born when its founders bravely lit their 170-year-old family recipe on fire," said Shepherd. "What's even more impressive is how that same energy still permeates through everything Maker's Mark does today. It was incredibly fulfilling to work with a team as unafraid to do things differently as the team at Maker's Mark."
In addition to the debut film creative, the global campaign includes the relaunch of the brand's global website and consumer ambassador program. The global brand experience will be further supported with limited-edition product releases, media and talent partnerships, retail programming, experiential and PR as it is embedded in additional markets in 2024.
Breaking convention in pursuit of progress is not new to Maker's Mark. It was the first bourbon distillery to open its doors to the public, pioneering the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. In a world of automation and efficiency, Maker's Mark maintains handmade touchpoints including hand-dipping every bottle in iconic red wax. Further, the brand pioneers social and environmental initiatives as a force for good and Maker's Mark Distillery is a Certified B Corporation.

About Maker's Mark® Bourbon
In 1953, in Loretto, Ky., Bill Samuels, Sr., fulfilled his dream to create a handmade and delicious bourbon. He decided to make his whisky in small batches, using soft red winter wheat to enhance the softness and sweetness. He then rotated each barrel by hand for consistency and, finally, aged each barrel to taste. Bill Samuels, Sr., transformed bourbon from a "commodity" into a premium handmade spirit, and today Maker's Mark continues to make its bourbon the same way. That time-tested approach seems to still be working just fine 60+ years later, as Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon was awarded a Gold medal at the esteemed International Spirits Challenge in 2022. In recent years, Maker's Mark has introduced thoughtful, super-premium innovations to its portfolio, including Maker's Mark 46, Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series, Maker's Mark Cask Strength and Maker's Mark Private Selection, the brand's first-ever custom barrel program. Today, Maker's Mark is the largest bourbon distillery in the world to achieve B Corp Certification and the first distillery to achieve Regenified certification, a reflection of the brand's dedication towards building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Wonderbird Spirits Expands Distillery + Overall Brand
DALLAS, July 26, 2023 -- Wonderbird Spirits, the beloved gin distillery out of Taylor, MS is expanding their distillery as well as their brand. Wonderbird Spirits desired to put Mississippi on the map for something they weren't known for - gin. After experiencing tremendous success in the Georgia market, Wonderbird has taken flight in Texas, South Carolina and Tennessee. With cocktail placement in Charleston's very own Sorelle as well as garnering attention in Sean Brock's concepts in Nashville and then landing on multiple Hai Hospitality menus in Texas, Wonderbird is proud of the product that they are consistently pouring in the world of spirits.
Since launching, Wonderbird has garnered press in The Local Palate Magazine, Southern Living and Cheers Magazine while landing on some high profile cocktail menus in Atlanta such as Canoe, Storico Fresco Ristorante, Lyla Lila, all of Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, Little Bear and more. The No. 61 Gin won two gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits competition in 2020. Wonderbird also proudly hangs their hat on the recognition they received in Garden & Gun Made in the South awards in 2021, taking both drink and overall winner with their No. 97 Magnolia Experimental Gin.
From grain to glass, they ferment Mississippi Delta rice to make the base spirit. Their approach, which borrows from traditional sake making, is what makes it uniquely special, they say. The rice, sourced from a beautiful farming operation in the Mississippi Delta, is the cornerstone of the gin. The brand also forages two of Wonderbird's ten ingredients — red clover tops and fresh loblolly pine shoots — from the twenty acre property outside of Oxford.
"You can smell and taste it straight from the Mississippi ground," says co-owner Rob Forster. "That's something we're very proud of."
After three years in Taylor building their reputation as a maker of grain-to-glass, award-winning gins, it is a thrill to witness a significant distillery expansion that will see the footprint triple and in time allow the team to produce their spirits at far greater volumes with added efficiency and optimization.

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn., July 19, 2023 -- Today, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the most-awarded Bourbon and American Whiskey of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, announced that it will begin distribution of its highly sought-after Single Barrel Whiskey this fall. The rollout will kick off with Uncle Nearest's 'Single Barrel Showdown: America's Choice,' an online public vote that puts the power in the hands of whiskey fans across the country to determine which five states will be the first to receive Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey on shelves. Currently, Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey is only available to purchase online and at Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Voting for the 'Single Barrel Showdown: America's Choice' opens today, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of the launch of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, and will take place through August 2nd. Those who cast their vote will automatically be entered to win a two night trip for two to Tennessee, complete with round trip transportation, a hotel stay in Nashville, and a tour and tasting at Nearest Green Distillery.
"The members of our Whiskey Family are some of the most devoted and dedicated fans of any spirit brand, and we know that they will show up in a big way for our 'Single Barrel Showdown,'" said Katharine Jerkens, Chief Business Officer for Uncle Nearest. "We would not be where we are today - which is the fastest-growing American whiskey brand in U.S. history - without their support, and we look forward to having them decide where these coveted Single Barrel bottles will hit shelves first."
Following the voting period, Uncle Nearest will announce the winning states as well as the winner of the contest in mid-August. The winning territories will see Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey barrels arrive to market first and just in time for September 5th – a significant date for the whiskey brand as it marks the same date as the opening of Nearest Green Distillery in 2019.
Uncle Nearest first debuted its Single Barrel Whiskey in November 2022 at Nearest Green Distillery before becoming available for home delivery on ReserveBar.com. Since then, the whiskey has been met with critical acclaim, having recently earned a double platinum medal at the 2023 Ascot Awards, a gold medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and a critic's score of 92 at the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. Each barrel used for Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey is hand-selected by Victoria Eady Butler, a four-time Master Blender of the Year, and the great-great-granddaughter of Nearest Green.
"The positive response to our Single Barrel Whiskey from both esteemed judges at spirits competitions and from those who have visited us at Nearest Green Distillery is overwhelming, and I know that we're making Nearest so proud with every bottle of this whiskey," said Victoria Eady Butler. "Our fans have been asking when we were finally going to bring it to shelves, and the wait is almost over. Like all of our other whiskeys, I have no doubt our partners will have a hard time keeping this Single Barrel in stock!"
All Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskeys (SRP: $89.99) are bottled at barrel strength, allowing for a unique flavor profile that varies from batch to batch. Like all of its filtered whiskeys, Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey goes through the distillery's triple filtration process to remove any impurities, including the Lincoln County Process, the process of sugar maple filtration that Nearest Green is credited with helping to perfect.
For more information on Uncle Nearest 'Single Barrel Showdown: America's Choice,' and to vote for which five states should be first to receive Uncle Nearest Single Barrel Whiskey, visit www.unclenearest.com/singlebarrelshowdown. Maker's Mark® Bourbon Invites Guests to Go Beyond the Traditional Distillery Tour with Star Hill Farm Experiences
New Tours Offer Visitors a Hands-On Look at the Home of the Maker's Mark Distillery and the Chance to Experience Flavor Through Nature
LORETTO, Ky., July 20, 2023 - Maker's Mark, the iconic handmade Kentucky bourbon, has introduced Star Hill Farm Experiences, a new series of visitor tours at the home of Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. The tours are designed to provide guests with a deeper look at the 1,100 acres of expansive natural land on which Maker's Mark Bourbon is crafted, as well as the sustainability, agriculture and research initiatives underway that allow the brand to cultivate bourbon that betters the world, while crafting the most flavorful products possible.
Unlike anything else on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the Star Hill Farm Experiences are a natural extension of the vision on which Maker's Mark was founded. Maker's Mark co-founder Margie Samuels was a pioneering force behind bourbon tourism in the 1950s, opening the property to family, friends, curious locals and travelers before formal distillery tours existed. Her belief that people should be given the opportunity to see where and how their favorite products are crafted is amplified with the new experiences, as guests are given the opportunity to not only see the production process, but also participate in Maker's Mark's pursuit of flavor through nature.
"Since the founding of Maker's Mark in 1953, achieving the distinctive flavor and quality of our whisky has remained a direct reflection of the environment that surrounds us," said Rob Samuels, 8th generation whisky maker and grandson of the Maker's Mark founders. "We're proud to offer these new, immersive experiences that not only let visitors explore the natural beauty that Star Hill Farm has to offer, but also better understand and appreciate nature's influence on the whisky in their glass."
Initial tour offerings now available for booking include:
- The Oak Experience is a first-hand introduction to the American oak tree from soil to sip, including a visit to the white oak research forest, a journey and toast to the Mother Oak tree (one of the oldest oaks in Kentucky) and the opportunity for guests to plant their own white oak.
- The Seasonal Star Hill Farm Tour invites guests on a sensory exploration of Star Hill Farm tailored to the season, including crop harvests, livestock visitation and discovery of ingredients grown on-property for the cocktail and culinary programs.
- The Maker's Mark Art and Design Tour is a look at the world-class art and design featured throughout the property, all of which is designed in harmony with and in celebration of its natural surroundings on Star Hill Farm.
"In the past, our guests have only been able to explore a small piece of our home at Star Hill Farm," said Amanda Humphrey, Star Hill Farm Advocacy and Experience Manager. "With these experiences, we're excited to invite those interested in learning more about Maker's Mark to see, touch and interact with the wood, wheat and water that are essential to our bourbon. Come forage for ingredients we use in bar and restaurant programs, meet the livestock that enrich our soil and call Star Hill Farm home, and see the environmental research projects we have undertaken first-hand."
Additional experiences will be introduced regularly and, like Mother Nature, will vary based on the Kentucky seasons. Future offerings will include truffle foraging, an apiary and beekeeping experience, an immersive look at our estate-grown grains, sorghum harvesting, and more. New tour offerings are available in addition to the classic Maker's Mark distillery tours, offering first-time visitors the chance to design their perfect day at Maker's Mark and give existing fans a reason to return again and again.
For more information about the new Star Hill Farm experiences and to book a tour, visit www.MakersMark.com.

Old Forester® Unveils New 117 Series: Bottled in Bond
LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 18, 2023 -- Today, Old Forester® announces the newest release in its 117 series – Bottled in Bond. In accordance with the 1897 Bottled in Bond Act, this product is bottled from barrels filled during a single distillation season – the wet and warm late Spring of 2014.
Bottled-in-bond is a designation that protects the integrity of aged spirits by ensuring each barrel is produced in a single distillation season by a single distillery. To meet the criteria, the spirit must also be matured in a U.S. bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 50% ABV. (100 proof).
"The heritage of Old Forester is uniquely tied to the Bottled in Bond movement as George Garvin Brown's first bottled bourbon really set the stage for quality guarantee decades before the historic law went into effect," said Old Forester Master Taster Melissa Rift. "This bonded expression as part of the 117 Series is a fantastic opportunity to look at a very small batch of bonded liquid and how it has developed from that single season to the offering we are launching today."
Bottled in Bond marks the latest installment in the 117 Series, a limited-expression lineup that debuted in Spring 2021 and focuses on innovation and experimentation.

Though women make up more than 40% of all athletes, they receive less than 10% of total sports news coverage*. As a brand that has a longstanding commitment to gender equality, Johnnie Walker and Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham are on a mission to help close the visibility gap for women in sports. Together, they are encouraging fans across the nation to 'Watch Women Sports' and to recognize the positive impact they can make by simply tuning into a game.
Record breaking reach and attendance for this summer's global soccer tournament shows progress is being made, but there is more work to be done to ensure the teams and athletes on the local level receive equal visibility and recognition, not just every four years, but every day like their male counterparts.
Beginning today through August 20th, anyone 21+ can go to www.justwomenssports.com/watchwomenssports to learn how to receive 'Match Day Memos' from Hannah and view this summer's game day schedule. These inspirational video reminders will be sent ahead of this summer's most exciting games to ensure fans never miss a match and will also highlight how watching and supporting women's sports can contribute to much needed change for cultural equality. "I am excited to collaborate with Johnnie Walker, a brand that is steadfast in its support of gender equality, to help celebrate women athletes and inspire a culture that values the talents and potential of all women."

"Everywhere you look, women's sports are on the rise," said Just Women's Sports Founder and CEO Haley Rosen. "Investment, viewership and participation are all up — but media coverage is still stuck at a shockingly low percentage. Johnnie Walker shares our vision of what women's sports can be, and we're thrilled to be teaming up on this unique and needed initiative to drive more equitable coverage."
Hannah and Johnnie Walker's 'Match Day Memos' were scripted and produced in partnership with Hello Sunshine's in-house agency Solar. Hello Sunshine is a media company which believes in the power of story to broaden perspectives and change the world for women. Highlighted in each memo are empowering insights curated by the Women's Sports Foundation.
"The time to invest in women's sports is now, and everyone, from brands to fans, has a role to to play, which is why Johnnie Walker is doubling down on our partnerships to build an even broader fanbase for these bold athletes," stated Sophie Kelly, Senior Vice President of Whiskies at DIAGEO North America. "Women athletes have the power to help shape culture, inspire other women as positive role models, and break societal narratives so please join us in celebrating them and tuning in as we cheer them on all year long."
On July 2, the brand's NWSL partners NJ/NY Gotham FC and Angel City FC competed against each other at Red Bull Arena during the Women's Empowerment Game presented by Johnnie Walker. During warm-ups, players from both teams wore tops designed by celebrated illustrator, Monica Ahanonu, representing a one team approach towards achieving gender equality. Monica's illustrations depict how "we lift each other up as we rise and break through barriers" and fans can purchase these limited edition tops at Angel City FC and NJ/NY Gotham FC online merchandise shops. The teams will be donating a portion of sales proceeds to Johnnie Walker's nonprofit partner, the Women's Sports Foundation.
"Seeing a brand like Johnnie Walker use its platform to educate and empower people across the country to watch women's sports is thrilling," said WSF CEO Danette Leighton. "We at the Women's Sports Foundation know from our extensive research that it is imperative to have brands, organizations and corporations invest in women's sports to reach true equity. As millions tune in to the Women's World Cup, it is our hope that this campaign inspires everyone to continue following women athletes in all sports throughout the year and encourages them to uplift all women in their communities so they can thrive on and off the field."
The 'Watch Women's Sports' rallying cry is a continuation of Johnnie Walker's First Strides initiative, an ongoing commitment to celebrate, inspire and enable more meaningful firsts in culture. To learn more, visit www.johnniewalker.com/firststrides.

Redwood Empire Whiskey Plants One Million Trees
In partnership with Trees for the Future, the whiskey brand plants one tree for every bottle sold
GRATON, Calif., July 10, 2023 Redwood Empire Whiskey, distinct California whiskey made and aged in the ancient forests of the Redwood Empire, has planted one million trees. In 2019, the California brand started its "Buy a Bottle, We'll Plant a Tree" initiative. When customers buy any of Redwood Empire's premium, handcrafted whiskey—each named after iconic redwood trees like Pipe Dream Bourbon Whiskey and Emerald Giant Rye Whiskey—the brand plants a tree. Today, Redwood Empire Whiskey is proud to share that since the start of the buy-one-plant-one campaign, one million bottles of premium whiskey have been sold and one million new trees have been planted.
This major milestone has been achieved together with Redwood Empire's tree-planting partner, Trees for the Future. Trees for the Future is a Maryland-based nonprofit organization responsible for planting over 250 million trees since 1989. The esteemed organization provides hands-on agroforestry training and resources to farming communities around the world.
"The Redwood Empire is named after a 420-mile coastal stretch that lies between Monterey Bay and the Southern Oregon border. It is the only place on earth where the venerable and mighty coastal redwoods grow and flourish. Sadly, 95% of the original ancient forest was harvested and never reseeded," says Derek Benham, founder of Purple Brands. "This is the first of many milestones and we are incredibly grateful to our supporters that helped us get here. Drink among giants!"
While this is a milestone for Redwood Empire, they don't plan to stop planting a tree for every bottle sold and hope to hit 2,000,000 sooner rather than later! Sign up for Redwood Empire's newsletter here and follow @redwoodempirewhiskey for future tree events.

About Redwood Empire Whiskey:
Redwood Empire Whiskey is a distinct California whiskey made and aged in the ancient forests of the Redwood Empire, a cool fog belt that stretches from San Francisco north along the coast to the Oregon border. Founder Derek Benham and master distiller Jeff Duckhorn recognized that the region's temperate climate and humidity would allow for a slow, even extraction of flavor during the whiskey aging process. In 2015, they began selecting older barrels from like-minded distilleries across the nation and blending them with their own distillate in Sonoma County. Now with the largest rick house in California, Redwood Empire Whiskey reserves more of its own distillate for 100% grain-to-glass expressions and increasingly features aged whiskeys distilled onsite. The result is consistently complex, bold and balanced. Inspired by John Muir and the old growth forests he sought to protect, they partner with Trees for the Future and One Tree Planted, by planting one tree for every bottle sold – to date they've surpassed 1,000,000 trees planted.
INTRODUCING FREY RANCH® FARM STRENGTH UNCUT BOURBON
Award-Winning Farm-to-Glass American Whiskey Brand Unveils New Cask Strength Bourbon
FALLON, Nev., July 10, 2023 Frey Ranch® Distillery today announced the release of a new permanent expression in its award-winning American Whiskey portfolio – Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon. Bottled at cask strength, the new non-chill filtered, small batch whiskey is produced using 100% of the slow-grown grains that are grown, harvested, milled, distilled on the Frey Ranch farm year-round. Proudly using the corn, wheat, barley, and rye that Co-Founder and Whiskey Farmer Colby Frey cultivates has become a hallmark of the brand - and the driving force behind Frey Ranch's explosive growth in Nevada and California. Today, Frey Ranch is the #1 selling ultra-premium bourbon in Nevada and one of the largest whiskey producers on the West Coast.
At 124.3 proof and aged for an average of five years, Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon utilizes the same mash bill as the flagship four grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 66.6% Dent Corn, 10% Winter Wheat, 11.4% Winter Rye and 12% Two Row Barley. As a cask strength bourbon, the tasting experience differs from the flagship 90 proof experience with robust notes of caramelized, brulé, and hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, the whiskey opens with a mélange of flavors – from birthday cake frosting and glazed butter cake to cloves, orange creamsicle and dried stone fruit. The finish delivers a sublime yet subtle hint of smoke and black cherry.
"Every time we blend a batch of our flagship Frey Ranch Four Grain Straight Bourbon, we taste it at cask strength before we proof it down. That uncut liquid is always a big hit with our distillery team. We're excited to now offer the Farm Strength version of the signature whiskey that put Frey Ranch on the map with our grain-forward approach. For the best tasting experience, we recommend a side-by-side comparison of our signature 90-proof against this new uncut version."
Using his own slow-grown grains that take Northern Nevada's climate, topography and terroir into consideration provides Colby with almost unlimited freedom to experiment with different grain varieties and blends. Valuing a common-sense approach to sustainable farming, Colby, with Master Distiller Russell Wedlake, built a distillery born from a desire to create a distinctive, long-lasting product from the quality grains the Frey family has been growing and perfecting for generations. The new Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon is another prime example of Frey Ranch's commitment to centering its whiskey enterprise around their grains and farming background first and foremost.
Available in California, Nevada, at the Frey Ranch Tasting Room and online at www.freyranch.com, Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon has a suggested retail price of $79.99 for a 750 ml bottle. In 2023, Frey Ranch will expand its footprint with availability in Arizona, Ohio, and Georgia.

About Penderyn Distillery:
Penderyn produce award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits at their distillery on the foothills of the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park, Wales, UK. They opened two other distilleries in Llandudno (2021) and Swansea (2023).
Distilling in Wales was a lost art, but in the late 1990s, in a Hirwaun pub in the Welsh valleys, a group of friends chatted about establishing the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. They dreamt of creating a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold, represented today by Penderyn’s ‘gold seam’.
The village of Penderyn was chosen because of the site’s own supply of fresh natural spring water.
A unique copper single-pot still designed by Dr David Faraday, a relative of the great 19th-century scientist Michael Faraday, was installed in 2000, which produces a spirit at an industry high draw of 92%, meaning Penderyn's whiskies are light, fruity and flavoursome.
This business seemed a curiosity - a Welsh whisky? - but when the Scottish whisky expert, Dr Jim Swan, became our Master Distiller, things got serious. Dr Swan got involved because he said the still created a world class spirit. He said we should finish in Madeira casks, so this became our house style. This quickly advanced to sherry casks, peated casks, port casks, and a number of other casks used for finishing. Nigel Short invested in the business, bringing Stephen Davies in as CEO, and the distinguished drinks designer Glenn Tutssel also became involved, who created the brand design.
On St David’s Day 2004 Penderyn whisky was launched in the presence of HRH Prince Charles. An expansion in 2013/14 included a replica of the Faraday Still, and two lantern stills being installed.
With investment, inspiration, hard work, attention to detail, the finest barley, expert female distillers and the best American oak bourbon casks, Penderyn Whisky has quickly gained a worldwide reputation for its range of whiskies, winning over 100 Double Gold/Gold/Masters awards en route. Today Penderyn is now very much part of the world whisky conversation, and is available in over 50 countries, including key markets in France, Germany, USA and China. Indeed only around a handful of countries were exporting whisky when we began, and now most countries do, so Penderyn really was a pioneer in the world whisky industry.
Penderyn is a privately owned company, with over 60 shareholders.
