LAWRENCEBURG, Ky., Sept. 28, 2022 Wild Turkey Master's Keep Unforgotten, the newest release in the annual limited-edition series, was inspired by a fortuitous and unexpected co-mingling of young rye and mature bourbon released more than a decade ago. Master Distiller Eddie Russell has resurrected the memory of that release, Wild Turkey Forgiven, with the release of Master's Keep Unforgotten, a high proof, extra-aged variation of the harmonious blend of straight bourbon and rye whiskies. The unconventional and complex liquid serves as a testimony to Eddie's experience and the legacy of Wild Turkey as one of the few Kentucky distilleries that have remained dedicated to the art of making rye whiskey, alongside its renowned bourbons.

 

The idea to marry straight bourbon and rye whiskies of Wild Turkey Distilling Co. was born in 2010 when a crew member accidentally mixed a batch of young rye with a barrel of mature bourbon. Upon tasting the co-mingled whiskeys, Master Distiller Eddie Russell realized he had something very special on his hands. Rather than discard the serendipitous mistake, the Distillery celebrated it, bottling the whiskey for a limited time, and fittingly naming it Forgiven.

The award-winning Master's Keep series was first launched in 2015 with Master's Keep 17 Year and was inspired by Eddie Russell's desire to push the boundaries of traditional Wild Turkey bourbon making, by experimenting with aging techniques and finishes.  At 105 proof, Master's Keep Unforgotten is made from some of the oldest rye ever released by Wild Turkey and is characterized by unmistakable notes of fresh fruit – flavors rarely exhibited in such mature liquid. The extra aging time in rye casks honors the storied history of American rye production, while offering a distinct experience that is sure to surprise and delight.

"Twelve years ago, I tasted the result of the distillery mishap that would become Wild Turkey Forgiven and was amazed. It was unlike anything I had ever tasted before, and I knew we had stumbled upon something special," says Wild Turkey's Master Distiller Eddie Russell. "Master's Keep Unforgotten pays homage to this happy accident, perfected with a secondary rye barrel aging in our pre-prohibition Rickhouse B – the favorite of my father, Master Distiller Jimmy Russell."

Staying true to the spirit and distilling traditions that have defined Wild Turkey for the last 80 years, Unforgotten honors the storied history of American rye production through a bourbon lens. On the nose, the magnificent marriage of 13-year-old bourbon and 8- & 9-year-old rye is fruit-forward with notes of caramel and oak. On the palate, the flavor profile consists of a swirl of caramel, dried fruit, and sweet oak - complemented by notes of dried fruit, honey, black pepper, and baking spice from the 8- and 9-year-old ryes on the finish.

The resulting whiskey is an entirely unique expression of rye, with rich taste, buttery notes, a silky finish and a hint of rye spice.

This whiskey innovation begins with Redemption's award-winning classic pre-Prohibition rye mash bill, which boasts a rye content of 95%. Redemption then broke conventional whiskey-making norms by adding the flavorful backset that comes off the still during distillation, called the "whiskey lees," into the barrels before aging. By periodically rotating the barrels during the aging process, the "lees" and whiskey continually interact and naturally infuse the whiskey with even more flavor. The "sur lee" method invigorates the rye's complexity to further enhance and develop the whiskey. Before bottling, Sur Lee is non-chill filtered to maintain optimal flavors and aromas. The end result is a whiskey that's deep and complex with a floral upfront, nutty backdrop and decadent, buttery notes of toasted marshmallow, maple and nutmeg, balanced with a lingering spicy finish.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26, 2022 CaskX, a pioneer and market leader in the sale of barreled bourbon investments, announced today that it is selling a limited allocation of 72-year-old single malt Scotch-Whisky from Scotland-based Gordon & MacPhail as a perk to its investor customer base. Recorded as one of the top 5 oldest whiskies globally, each 700ml bottle of the single malt Scotch-Whisky Glen Grant range was distilled in 1948 at the Milton Distillery and matured in an American oak ex-Sherry cask and is valued at more than $68,000 (USD) and includes 5 years storage and insurance. The company anticipates that it will quickly sell out of its limited allocation. Any remaining bottles will be offered and sold to potential investors of its bourbon casks, which the firm acquires from southern distilleries including Jackson Purchase and Kentucky Artisan Distillery.

Rare single malt whisky bottles are among the most prized and highly desirable investment opportunities in the world today. At a Bonham's auction in Hong Kong earlier in 2022 a bottle of Glen Grant 72 fetched more than $100,000 (USD). CaskX has managed to secure a limited allocation of bottles from Gordon & MacPhail to offer to select collectors and investors. These bottles are typically only sold at auction and rarely seen for sale otherwise. Bottled at 56.2% ABV, the whisky is packaged in a Dartington Crystal decanter that features a design to represent the age of the cask and is inspired by a tree's annual growth rings. When it comes to flavor, this whisky offers a multitude of unique notes that set it apart from any other that has come before. On the nose, the whisky has aromas of Christmas cake moistened with oloroso Sherry, with a slightly burnt base. On the palate, drinkers will find 'a sweet taste at the start and a tannic, dry kick to finish with a surprising punch of spice, whispers of espresso and deep dark chocolate.'

How CaskX's Investment Model Works

CaskX begins by working with clients to build a portfolio of barrels, also known as casks, based on the investor's desired objectives. By selecting barrels from specific regions, distilleries, and vintages an investor can achieve the right combination that manages risk, offers the desired holding period, and is projected to achieve target returns. Upon purchasing a suitable portfolio, investors receive certificates for each of the barrels which prove their ownership rights and can be used to transfer the barrels in the event of a future sale. All barrel investments are then stored at a government-regulated warehousing facility at either the distillery or a third-party storage provider until the barrels are either bottled or sold to another party. Investments are also fully insured to protect investors from an unforeseen disaster or loss. Historic Bourbon Brand to Re-Enter the American Whiskey Market

STANFORD, Ky., Sept. 20, 2022 -- Historic whiskey brand Fortuna Bourbon is set to re-enter the market for the first time in over 50 years.

WOODINVILLE, Wash., Sept. 7, 2022  This month, Woodinville Whiskey will release its Special Limited Release Woodinville Moscatel Finished Straight Bourbon in 23 markets (MSRP $99.99 per bottle). At the time of its distillery-only release last fall, the Woodinville 2021 Harvest Release was the first Moscatel Finished Straight Bourbon in the American Whiskey category. The whiskey was introduced exclusively at the Distillery Tasting Room in Washington state last September.

Woodinville Moscatel Finished Straight Bourbon is Woodinville's fully mature, Flagship Straight Bourbon Whiskey transferred into 10-year-old, 200-gallon Moscatel de Setúbal barrels for "finishing". Moscatel de Setúbal is a rare, fortified wine produced on the Setúbal Peninsula of Portugal, a region known for its ideal climate for producing these wines. This "finishing" process adds notes of dried apricot and orange peel, with a honey and toffee sweetness. Candied nuts and a hint of fennel greet you for a lingering finish.

As the 2021 Washington state Harvest Release, Woodinville Moscatel Finished Straight Bourbon was named one of the "Best New American Double-Barrel Whiskies of 2021" by Nicolas Stecher in Maxim. For Uproxx's "Best Bourbon Whiskey Blind Taste Test" in February, Zach Johnston of Uproxx wrote, "Tasting Notes: There's a mix of chocolate powder, apricots, and orange that's tempered by five spice and a hint of wet reeds. Sweet and floral honey opens the palate up to Almond Roca (gotcha!) and peach pits. Ripe plums with more of those wet reeds drive the finish towards soft leather, more stone fruit, and a slightly spicy tobacco chew. West Des Moines, Iowa (September 8, 2022) – Foundry Distilling Co. and Surly Brewing Co. have done it again–collaborating to create a truly unique spirit. Their latest concoction is called the Axe Man American Malt Whiskey, distilled from the wort of Axe Man IPA beer. Foundry Distilling will release this whiskey on September 17th, 2022.

The essence of Surly’s Axe Man IPA has been distilled into an American single malt whiskey with every ounce of the aromatic nature as its beer counterpart. Surly brought the beer’s wort to Foundry Distilling, where it was fermented, distilled, and aged for 28 months in new 30-gallon American Oak barrels to produce the malt whiskey. In total, the distillery will make 1,000 cases in a limited run.

This morning, George Dickel announced the brand is adding to its highly acclaimed, award-winning Bottled in Bond Whisky Series with George Dickel Bottled in Bond Fall 2008, Aged 13 Years.

  • Be bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) and reduced in proof only by the addition of water to not less than 100 proof

Ivona's NFT art in this Master Set draws inspiration from the vital element and force of nature, water, and builds upon her "Under the Waves" project. Her process consisted of multiple stages of AI to create 75 unique NFTs that capture the juxtaposition between the constant flow of water and the water tamed within each bottle of Ghost and Rare Port Dundas. Each of the 75 NFTs will differ, making them as rare as the whisky itself.

The exclusive Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Master Sets are a celebration of Port Dundas' legacy, the incredible craftsmanship of Johnnie Walker Master Blender Emma Walker and the Web3 cultural revolution.

The Johnnie Walker team of expert whisky makers, led by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Emma Walker, handpicked the most distinctive expressions of maturing whisky from Port Dundas for this new limited edition. Walker chose a small number of distinctive, aged whiskies from the Johnnie Walker reserves, all matured in two different wood types to add depth and layers to the blend. Ghost and Rare Port Dundas features a touch of creamy vanilla notes from whiskies aged in second fill American oak casks and subtle wood spice from scotch matured in first fill highly charred American oak casks.

"Port Dundas was, in its day, one of the finest Grain Whisky distilleries in the world and the rare expressions that we have chosen from our reserves are some of the most distinctive it has ever produced. Their slow maturation allows the sweet and delicate Grain character to blossom," Emma says. "These rare whiskies highlight the distillery character of Port Dundas, perfectly showcasing the wonderful depth of flavor that this Grain Whisky brings to Johnnie Walker Blue Label. It's incredible character inspired us to create something truly extraordinary that pays proper tribute to the whisky makers of this storied Glasgow distillery."

To complement the fragrant wood spice character of Port Dundas, Emma and her team hand-selected two other "ghost" whiskies from the distilleries of Cambus and Brora[2] before combining these with other very rare scotch from five iconic distilleries. Creamy, wood notes from Port Dundas embrace the vanilla and soft smoke from the "ghost" whiskies of Cambus and original stocks of Brora. Other very rare whiskies from Cameronbridge and Glenkinchie reveal notes of spiced apples alongside Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk, bringing aromas of peaches and berries.
