INDIANAPOLIS, May 27, 2021 - Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) today announced a partnership with Sugarlands Distilling Company to become the Official Spirits and the Official Moonshine of the RLL team.

Sugarlands Distilling Company, located at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a craft-distillery that produces award-winning moonshine, rum, cream liqueurs and rye whiskey. More than 1 million people visit Sugarlands' downtown Gatlinburg distillery annually, and over 25,000 visitors have rated the distillery a five-star experience on Trip Advisor ranking it as the '#1 Thing to do in Gatlinburg,' as well as the 'World's Top-Rated Distillery Experience.'

The partnership debuts with the 2021 Indy 500 on May 30, 2021 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For more than a century, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been home to some the greatest stories in sports. Each year, millions of race fans around the world witness odds-defying accomplishments that turn time into history and drivers into legends, setting in stone legacies that will live forever. This immersive web series chronicles the greatest moments, traditions and heroes of the Racing Capital of the World, Where Tradition Never Stops.

Talisker is the lead sponsor of Billion Oyster Project's Shell Collection Program, a cornerstone of the nonprofit's work and an essential recycling process for the resource. Oyster shells provide the base material for oyster reefs, which offer a home for young oysters to grow and hundreds of species in New York Harbor to thrive. Talisker will support Billion Oyster Project's ongoing shell collection operations, which are expected to collect more than 200,000 pounds of oyster shells from 50 NYC restaurants and divert them from landfills in 2021.

This year, Talisker is also joining Billion Oyster Project in supporting Senate Bill S4741 in New York State. If passed, the bill will award restaurants that donate shells to oyster reef restoration organizations a small tax credit per pound of shell donated. In addition to supporting this crucial environmental initiative, the tax credit will help restaurants who have struggled due to closures and restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Penderyn, Wales – May 25, 2021: The award-winning Penderyn Distillery, which will open a new flagship distillery on June 1, has announced the release of a new Penderyn Single Cask Single Malt Welsh whisky, exclusively for the American market: Penderyn 10 Year Old Ex-Ruby Port Single Cask (No. 178). The new 231-bottle Single Cask expression is solely available in the U.S. through importer ImpEx Beverages and builds on the legacy of quality and uniqueness that is synonymous with the distillery’s much anticipated Single Cask releases.

Penderyn 10 Year Old Ex-Ruby Port Single Cask (No. 178, 60.06% ABV, RRP US$150) was filled into cask in 2011 and bottled in 2021. After spending 2.5 years in a Buffalo Trace Bourbon cask and 7.5 years in a Ruby Port cask, the result is a nose of red fruits with citrus zest, oily hazelnuts, and dark chocolate, together with dates, figs, and plums. The taste is an oily vanilla sweetness alongside woodland berries such as raspberries and wild strawberries, mixed with plum jam with oak tannins and cinnamon spices. The finish is a fruity sweetness leading to an oaky dryness, with some dark chocolate and black coffee bitterness. KUPU SPIRITS DEBUTS WHISKEY

Official Launch to be Held at Maui Brewing Company Waikiki

Kihei, Hawaii (May 13, 2021) – Following a full year of resting on new charred American oak barrels, Kupu Spirits announces the launch of its Whiskey. The product, a blend of Rye and Bourbon Whiskey, has been matured in a space provided by Haleakala Ranch in bunkers dating back to World War II. The 88 proof Whiskey is an exceptional expression of caramel and vanilla building to peppery spice notes with a hint of nuttiness.

“After closely monitoring the aging process for over 2 years, we carefully selected the barrels to pull for Batch #1. Selecting the perfect marriage of the lighter #2 charring of white American oak, along with the ideal climate conditions where the whiskey was rested, we feel this rye-heavy blend really stands-up to top whiskeys in its class. While the subtle complexities of the sweet corn and vanilla flavors are apparent, we wanted to primarily showcase that spicy, peppery kick of the rye that we all know and love,” stated Lead Distiller, Nick Reiss. “Our team at Kupu/MBC worked very hard, putting in the time and sweat to build the foundation of a program here on Maui that will continue to bring more delicious whiskey for years to come. As the Lead Distiller of Kupu Spirits, I personally hope you enjoy this whiskey as much as I do.”

The official debut of Kupu Whiskey will be on World Whiskey Day, May 15th at MBC Waikiki. CEO and Co-Founder of Maui Brewing Company/Kupu Spirits, Garrett Marrero will be on-site to promote the latest product alongside Lead Distiller, Nick Reiss, members of the MBC team, and distribution partners from Paradise Beverages.


To commemorate the occasion, all Maui Brewing Company locations will be offering a promotional cocktail, “Ko'olau Cruiser” created by MBC Waikiki’s General Manager and Head Mixologist Shawn Shelton. The cocktail is made with Kupu Spirits Whiskey, Orange Liqueur, Sweet Vermouth, and lemon juice.

In addition, Executive Chef Terry Lynch has created a dessert pairing “Honey Toast with Kupu Whiskey Caramel Sauce”.

At the brewery/distillery location on Maui, the team at MBC Kihei will be promoting Kupu Whiskey with two offerings throughout the week of May 15 - May 22:

  • A HI Fashioned sampler, featuring four beverages on a sampler paddle including a signature White Kupu Old Fashioned, a Kupu Barrel One Old Fashioned, an Origin Kupu Old Fashioned, and a Barrel-aged Old Fashioned Barleywine.
  • White Kupu Sloshie Special, a classic frozen blend of Mango Iced Tea with Lemonade, Kupu White Whiskey and cane sugar.

Rogue Spirits Wins Big at San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Rogue’s Rolling Thunder Stouted Whiskey brought home the Double Gold for the second time in three years and Rogue also earned silver for both Dead Guy Whiskey and Farmhouse Gin.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), the second oldest competition of its kind, is one of the most influential competitions due to the legacy, integrity and experience behind the judging process. Each year, the prestigious panel of judges receives and tastes over 1,000 whiskey entries and awards medals to the top products.  Its judges are considered world class and its medals and awards are ranked among the world’s most prestigious.
