Michter's To Release US*1 Barrel Strength Rye
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 23, 2021 For the first time since April 2019, the Louisville based distiller will be releasing its Michter's Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey on a national and international basis this March.
Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco commented, "Our team has been turning out some wonderful Kentucky style ryes over the years, and this 2021 release continues that trend." Master Distiller Dan McKee observed, "I was really happy when we tasted these barrels. This release has so much of what I look for in a rye."
Michter's US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is a single barrel product, and the average proof of the barrels in this March 2021 release is 110.3 proof. The suggested retail price in the United States is $100 for a 750ml bottle. Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson said, "These barrels are at just the right point to highlight the beautiful nuances of a great rye whiskey. This release is a powerhouse."
Michter's has a rich and long legacy of offering traditional American whiskeys of uncompromising quality. With each of its limited production offerings aged to its peak maturity, Michter's highly acclaimed portfolio includes bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey. Currently all types of Michter's are being allocated because demand exceeds supply. In July 2020, a barrel of Michter's 10 Year Bourbon set the record for highest auction price paid for a barrel of bourbon when it sold for £166,000 (US$209,462). In January 2021, Michter's was named the #1 Top Trending American Whiskey brand by Drinks International in their Annual Brands Report.
In addition to Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery and Michter's Shively Distillery, both located in Louisville, the company has its 145-acre farm and operations in Springfield, Kentucky.

Legion M Launches Archenemy Space Whiskey, inspired by Joe Manganiello's hit film ARCHENEMY
February 24, 2021 -- Fan-owned entertainment company, Legion M is proud to introduce Archenemy Space Whiskey, inspired by their major motion picture with SpectreVision, Archenemy, now available for purchase at select retailers and shipping nationwide.
Archenemy Space Whiskey is an even blend of two straight bourbon lots distilled in Indiana and bottled in California by Lost Republic Distilling Co. The first distilled in June 2012 and the second in August of 2015 -- stored in traditional 53-gallon white oak barrels with a #2 char, and unfiltered to preserve all the color and flavor.
The resulting finished bourbon has a medium amber color. The nose has a woody oak aroma with dark raspberries and clove notes. The palate is full of vanilla, caramel, toffee and a clove/cinnamon punch. The finish is lingering butterscotch with cinnamon and spearmint.
“Everything we do is with the Legion M community of fans and creatives in mind. It seemed like a logical next step to bring the Space Whiskey from Archenemy to life. We wanted the flavor of this bourbon to pack a powerful punch, channeling the cosmic themes of the film to create a blend that seems otherworldly.” said Legion M co-founder and CEO, Paul Scanlan.
The film, Archenemy, which stars Joe Manganiello and released on December 11, 2020, follows Max Fist (Manganiello), a local drunk who claims to be a superhero from the planet Chromium. He tells anyone who will listen that he was pulled into a wormhole, falling through time and space, and dropped to earth without any of his powers. No one pays any attention to Max except a teenager named Hamster (Skylan Brooks) who can’t get enough of Max’s stories. When Hamster and his sister (Zolee Griggs) get in trouble with a vicious drug syndicate led by The Manager (Glenn Howerton), Max takes to the streets as a brutal vigilante hellbent on proving himself as the hero no one believes him to be.
Archenemy Space Whiskey is Legion M’s latest film favorite brought to life. In September 2020, the company launched Cheddar Goblin Mac & Cheese, a consumable nod to an iconic moment in their psychedelic horror flick, Mandy, starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Panos Cosmatos.
