Johnnie Walker Looks to the Next 200 Years of Scotch: Whisky maker launches four exclusive 200th anniversary releases to celebrate key milestone
LONDON, July 27, 2020 Today, Johnnie Walker, the world's number one Scotch whisky[1], celebrates a 200-year milestone, and looks to the next 200 years of Scotch, with the announcement of four exclusive limited editions. Each of these 200th anniversary releases - a new bottle design and three newly crafted whiskies - are a celebration of the incredible journey, pioneering spirit and dedication to quality that was started by founder, John Walker, in 1820.
Diageo Global Scotch Director, John Williams, said: "We wanted to mark our 200-year journey with the launch of these four exclusive limited editions – they're a celebration of where we've come from but, more than that, they are each expressions of what's possible today and into tomorrow, and that's exciting.
"John's spark, vision and entrepreneurial fire were the impetus to growing the John Walker name, our business and ultimately a new future for Scotch whisky. This year we're celebrating the steps he first took - steps that have inspired generations of our whisky makers and are at the heart of everything we do today and will do tomorrow."
Each anniversary release celebrates a unique part of this 200 year journey:
JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL 200TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION DESIGN
This new limited edition design features stunning illustrations that bring to life the 200-year journey of John Walker & Sons and Johnnie Walker, paying homage to some of the great cities and countries that have been part of this inspiring story since 1820.
JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL LEGENDARY EIGHT
This exclusive release celebrates 200 years of craft. It is a smooth, mellow Scotch crafted using whisky hand selected from only eight legendary distilleries that all existed in 1820, including some very rare expressions from long-closed "ghost" distilleries.
JOHN WALKER & SONS CELEBRATORY BLEND
This limited edition release is inspired by a breakthrough moment in John Walker & Sons' history - the launch of Old Highland Whisky in the 1860s. This rich and complex Scotch is inspired by the flavours found in the Walker family's grocery store during that period and is crafted with whiskies from distilleries operating at the time.
JOHN WALKER & SONS BICENTENARY BLEND
This exceptional whisky is a sensorial journey down the fragrant aisles of John Walker's original grocery store in Scotland with rich layers that re-imagine the exotic flavours that shaped John Walker's imagination. It is crafted with rare and exceptional whiskies, all aged for at least 28 years, including whiskies from long-closed "ghost" distilleries such as Pittyvaich, Cambus and soon to be re-opened Port Ellen.
Johnnie Walker Master Blender, Jim Beveridge, said: "Each of these exclusive releases bring a fresh perspective to our 200th anniversary story and are the perfect way to celebrate this moment for Johnnie Walker. It feels very apt to be announcing them this week to coincide with John Walker's birthday[2]."
The launch of these 200th anniversary releases follows the announcement of a £185 million investment[3] in Scotch tourism from parent company, Diageo, with a host of new multi-sensory, immersive whisky experiences across Scotland and their most recent announcement of a new paper-based bottle launching with Johnnie Walker in 2021[4], a world-first in the drinks industry, to spearhead a more sustainable future for Scotch as the brand looks to the next 200 years.
All four exclusive releases will launch from October onwards, subject to market distribution and availability, for a limited period only.*

The Texas Whiskey Festival and Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling Release a Cider Cask Finished Rye Whiskey
The Texas Whiskey Festival and Ranger Creek announce the release of a collaboration whiskey, the first in the Tejas series.
Tejas, the Spanish spelling of the ancient Caddo word for “friend” or “ally” is a collaboration between the festival and various Texas distillers to create unique offerings that showcase their methods and character. Each bottling will be a limited release available only through the respective distiller.
The first in the Tejas series is a bottling by Ranger Creek Distillery. Their rye whiskey spent two and a half years in bourbon barrels before being finished in a barrel provided by Austin Eastciders. Over the six-month finishing process, the spirit and the barrel became acquainted to produce a whiskey rich with floral, baked apple, and cinnamon aromas, with touches of honey, baked red apple, and a hint of bitter apple flavors to become "Tejas.”
“This is a truly unique release that I hope people enjoy tasting it as much as we did making it,” said Josh Gardner, head distiller at Ranger Creek.
The bottling totaled just 258 – 750ml bottles. It will be available on July 20 exclusively through Ranger Creek’s tasting room. “The ability to collaborate showcases the camaraderie and experimentation the Texas Whiskey Industry is all about,” said Ranger Creek Co-Founder Dennis Rylander.
Tejas came to embody the character of the weathered and resilient settlers who saw the wide-open west as their destiny. This series pays homage to their intrepid resolve by bringing together our favorite Texas distilleries in a spirit of friendship that exemplifies the pride we take in proclaiming, “We are Tejas!”
“As a huge fan of their rye whiskey, this has been an amazing experience,” said Texas Whiskey Festival Co-Founder Jake Clements. “I’m excited to share this collaboration with everyone.”

AUSTIN, Texas, July 14, 2020- Today, Saint Liberty Whiskey is proud to announce that Harris & Simms (HANDS), a minority women-led spirits advisory company, has acquired a meaningful stake in the company. The veteran beverage experts include Dia Simms, former President of Combs Enterprises and partner Erin Harris, SVP of Combs Enterprises. The power duo is best known for taking CÃŽROC vodka from a little-known brand to a billion-dollar business. Founder & Chief Historian, Mark SoRelle, states, "We are so thrilled to have HANDS as partners in Saint Liberty Whiskey. With their collective 30+ years' experience in wine and spirits and disciplined approach to brand building they will be an invaluable asset to our team."
Saint Liberty Whiskey embraces the true diversity of the history of America through their celebration of the untold stories of the pioneering, Prohibition-era women bootleggers. Each woman bootlegger is paired with a unique craft whiskey and distillery to highlight and honor their individual story. The first expression is Bertie's Bear Gulch Bourbon Whiskey honoring African American homesteader Bertie "Birdie" Brown, known for making the "best moonshine in the country." The whiskey is proofed and bottled in the state where each woman originally resided, using the same water source they would have used 100 years ago.
Packaged in a signature embossed coffin flask bottle, inspired by the antique bottles of the American frontier. The flagship whiskey, Bertie's Bourbon, offers flavors of rich dark molasses, caramelized vanilla, apricots, some burnt brown sugar and a hint of smoke. Bertie's Bear Gulch Straight Bourbon Whiskey is exceptionally smooth and balanced with a wonderful warm finish.
"At Saint Liberty, we are committed to building an exceptional craft whiskey brand that recognizes a diverse group of unsung female heroes. We are proud to honor the courage and legacy of these pioneering women bootleggers. The women in the spirits industry today owe a debt to these frontierswomen," says Dia Simms.
Saint Liberty Whiskey commits to spending 5% of gross profits against women's empowerment issues, entrepreneurial, and educational efforts. Guided by an entirely female board of advisors, these efforts strive to create opportunities for women like Bertie Brown, who fought and died for their rights.
"Saint Liberty honors women, but the liquid is made for everyone. It is incredible whiskey full of character that is made for discerning Whiskey drinkers. These women represent hustle and spirit. Their stories belong on the forefront of spirits history and the liquid belongs on the backbar of every quality bar. It's the spirit of revolution," says Harris.
On the liquid, Founder and Chief Historian Mark SoRelle says, "We partner with true craft distilleries that produces whiskies consumers want to drink every day; whiskies that have depth, beautiful characteristics and develop on your palate with every sip to properly honor these incredible women pioneers."
Best sipped neat or in a classic whiskey cocktail like the Old Fashioned. Bertie's Bear Gulch Straight Bourbon Whiskey is now available in over ten states through the US with a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a 750ml bottle. Saint Liberty Whiskey is available at Total Wine & More, BevMo and Spec's Wines and Spirits. The warm amber colored whiskey is 87 proof and is best enjoyed responsibly. For more information please visit www.saintlibertywhiskey.com
Saint Liberty Whiskey highlights groundbreakers and rebels who have broken barriers during the 1920's when freedoms were granted, and freedoms were taken away. While women secured the right to vote after nearly a century of protest, the 18th Amendment introduced Prohibition and a ban on all alcohol sales. Saint Liberty celebrates these heroines of the Prohibition including Bertie Brown, Josephine Doody, Mary Curley, and many more. The Saint Liberty team is based in Austin, Texas. Our revolutionary whiskey brands are best when consumed responsibly.
Harris & Simms (HANDS) is a boutique spirits advisory company that offers strategic guidance and investments in spirit brands. Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, the team at HANDS focus on original and authentic brand stories paired with outstanding liquids. The 2020 Release of Michter's 10 Year Rye
LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 8, 2020 - This month, Louisville based Michter's Distillery will begin shipping the 2020 release of its 10 Year Single Barrel Rye.
"This will be the only release of our 10 Year Rye this year because we continue to be in a position where we need to allocate our whiskeys," commented Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco. "I am very grateful to our team for the terrific job they have been doing." While Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery has been shut since mid-March, Michter's Shively Distillery has continued to distill and bottle.
"I just love Kentucky style rye because it has not only great spice, but also the richness and the balance that comes from having a fair amount of corn and malted barley in the mashbill. And I think the 2020 release of our 10 Year Rye is an outstanding example of Kentucky style rye," said Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee.
"There is nothing quite like really good rye distillate that's been aged with thoughtful care for over a decade in a barrel that was toasted and then charred and in a warehouse that has been heat cycled to produce a deep, rich flavor profile perfect for sipping," commented Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
The suggested U.S. retail price per 750ml bottle of Michter's 10 Year Rye is $160.
Beyond its main distillery in the Shively section of Louisville, Michter's operations extend to two other sites in Kentucky. Waterford Distillery Brings Forward New Single Farm Origins After Sell-Out Debut
After the dramatic success of its first commercial bottlings, which sold out within a matter of hours in major retailers across Europe, terroir-driven producer Waterford Distillery has brought forward four new whisky bottlings to meet demand.
The Single Farm Origin whiskies form part of Waterford’s highly sought-after range of uber-provenance, natural single malt whiskies, which explore Irish terroir one farm, once place, at a time.
Influenced by the world's greatest winemakers, Waterford Distillery obsessively brings the same intellectual drive, methodology & rigour to single malt whisky. For the first time the focus is on barley, the origin of whisky’s complex flavours. Irish barley is widely considered to be the world's finest.
Waterford’s Single Farm Origin whiskies are expressions of precision and purity showcasing barley flavours derived from individual Irish farms and harvests.
THE PRECISION OF PLACE
The debut of two entirely new Single Farm Origins editions are:
Ballymorgan: Edition 1.1 - grown by Robert Milne on one of Ireland’s premier malting barley terroirs - the famous Clonroche Series in Co. Wexford, with its loamy, clay soils derived from slate and granite.
Sheestown: Edition 1.1 - grown just outside the historic town of Kilkenny on an undulating, well-drained, lowland terroir predominantly derived from limestone, by Phil O’Brien, father of one of our distillery workers.
In addition, a reprise of the original two sold out bottlings, slightly older second editions, has been brought forward to meet demand:
Bannow Island: Edition 1.2 - the second release, now 3 months older, was grown by Ed Harpur on the extreme southern coast of Co. Wexford, where salt-laden Atlantic winds and sandy soils create a unique, if challenging, terroir.
Ballykilcavan: Edition 1.2 - the second release, now 3 months older, uses barley grown by David Walsh-Kemmis west of the Barrow in Co. Laois in the barley heartlands, where his fertile fields are sheltered by ancient woodland.
Bottled at 50% ABV without colouring, chill-filtration or any additives – totally natural – each bottle is priced at €70-80/£70 and will be available from specialist retailers from the end of July 2020 onwards.
9,000 bottles of each whisky will be available throughout Europe, Taiwan and Japan, with totally unique Single Farm Origins coming to the US in September.
Supporting the unparalleled provenance is the full disclosure on each whisky, including barrel breakdown, barley agronomy, farm origin maps, distillation data, farm photography and field audio accessed via each bottle's unique TÉIREOIR Code.
Waterford Distillery Founder & CEO Mark Reynier says: "We knew there was great interest from the inquisitive, curious and open-minded in our unique philosophy but we were totally unprepared – and mighty humbled – by such an enthusiastic reception. We know this has meant some frustration for people getting their hands on a pair, but please bear with us.
“Our distributors say this is the most successful launch of a new distillery brand they have ever seen, and we have all been taken off guard. Everyone associated with Waterford Whisky from farmers to maltsters to distillers to warehousemen should be very proud. Sure, it’s early days, but our novel, traceable, transparent, terroir approach seems to have found a niche appreciated by today’s enlightened consumers."

Award-Winning Milam & Greene Whiskey Hits Shelves in Illinois
BLANCO, TEXAS JULY 01, 2020 - Milam & Greene Whiskey 2020’s most buzz-worthy craft whiskey brand hits store shelves in Illinois this month, marking the whiskey’s first expansion outside of Texas. The award-winning Milam & Greene Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Milam & Greene Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Casks are available at Illinois locations of Binny’s Beverage Depot, the Midwest’s largest wine, spirits, and beer store. The whiskey brand is named after partners Marsha Milam and Heather Greene, both of whom have deep Illinois roots.
“Bringing Milam & Greene Whiskey to Illinois is a homecoming for us,” says Milam & Greene Whiskey founder Marsha Milam, born and raised in Casey, IL. “As the daughter of a Central Illinois Basin oilman, whiskey was like currency in our house. If anyone did you a favor you gave them a bottle of good whiskey. Now I have some good whiskey of my own. I cannot wait to get back up home and share our whiskey with friends, family, and Illinois whiskey lovers. See you soon!”
“My Irish family worked the railroads and the stockyards of Chicago, helping make it the City of Big Shoulders,” says Heather Greene, CEO and master blender of Milam & Greene Whiskey. “My best childhood memories are of giant Thanksgivings celebrations held with my family in the South Side. My grandmother Hurley had 10 siblings, and there would be something like 50 family members eating together with plenty of whiskey for adults and tomfoolery amongst us kids. I’m glad we can bring Milam & Greene Whiskey to Illinois and hope my family won’t buy it all before the public can get to them. You might want to hurry up.”
Milam and Greene is a truly American Whiskey crafted by an incredible whiskey making team with grains from across the U.S., exquisite Texas Hill Country limestone filtered water and climate, and whiskey aged to optimal maturity in pristine casks in a very unique terroir. The Milam & Greene Whiskey team distills both in their hometown of Blanco, Texas and in master distiller Marlene Holmes’s home state of Kentucky. In addition to distilling on-site and off-site, the team blends, batches, sources, finishes, and hand-bottles. The team plans to introduce its Double Gold winning Milam & Greene Barrel Proof to the Illinois market in the coming months.
About the Whiskies
- Milam & Greene Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made from 70% Texas corn, 22% Pacific Northwest malted rye from Oregon and Washington, 8% Wyoming barley, and our proprietary yeast recipe from Kentucky and Texas. Each bottle of Milam & Greene Triple Cask is a batch of three hand selected straight bourbon whiskies: 2-year-old premium Texas bourbon for a pop of spice married with 3 to 4-year-old Tennessee whiskey for vanillas and fruits, and 10 to 11-year-old Tennessee whiskey for structure and tannins. It is then proofed to taste and bottled on site. This bourbon has a deep golden color, along with refined and elegant aromas with pops of vanilla, floral and spice. The palate is creamy and soft, surprisingly smooth for a 94-proof spirit, and has a medium warm finish, with structure and tannins.
- Milam & Greene Port Finished Straight Rye Whiskey, which won a Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, is a gorgeous ruby colored whiskey with luscious aromas of cinnamon, chocolate, and dark fruits such as black currants and blackberries. Robust flavors are carried in a rich, velvety whiskey with a long warm finish. Casks are brought from Indiana to Texas where they are first batched in the Blanco rickhouse and then finished in old Port wine casks from Portugal. The casks are meticulously curated, vatted for consistency, and monitored for flavor. The Texan sun and varied humidity levels influence the rate and strength of flavor imparted into the 94-proof whiskey, making this a tricky whiskey to produce.
Pricing and Availability
Milam & Greene Whiskey is distributed statewide in Illinois by Promark International Distributing, Inc. and is available at Binny’s Beverage Depot, as well as shipped and delivered throughout Illinois. Milam & Greene Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey is available for a suggested retail price of $44.99 and Milam & Greene Straight Rye Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Casks has a suggested retail price of $49.99.

NEW YORK, June 30, 2020 Seagram's 7 Crown has always been at home in dive bars, and now these local havens and their bartenders are facing unprecedented challenges. To show support as bars begin to re-open this summer, Seagram's 7 Crown is joining Diageo's #TipsFromHome social program, a movement providing the bartending community with ongoing financial relief.
As part of the initiative, Seagram's 7 Crown has teamed up with bartenders from across the country to mix up unique twists on the classic 7&7 cocktail through a social video series. These recipes tap into the spirit of ease, comfort and total lack of pretension we've missed from our neighborhood dives while they've been closed. In addition to walking through a unique 7&7 recipe, each bartender shares what dive bars mean to them.
Now, each time someone shares the brand's #TipsFromHome posts and tags up to seven friends, Seagram's 7 Crown & Diageo will donate $1 up to $1 million to the USBG Bartender Emergency Assistance Program. Through the #TipsFromHome program, the brand is helping hundreds of bartenders get back to work, while also pledging financial support to the USBG Bartender Emergency Assistance Fund. Seagram's 7 Crown hopes adults of legal age can join in raising a glass and tip the local bartenders they've missed seeing.
"Bartenders are truly the heart and soul of our favorite dive bars and it's important we continue to support this community. While we would normally celebrate National Dive Bar Day in July, we realize it will take more than one day to help our friends across the hospitality industry, so we'll be supporting them all summer long with #TipsFromHome," said Diageo Brand Director Jason Sorley. "We're hoping this program helps our friends in the hospitality industry, while giving loyal patrons an opportunity to raise a glass and support their favorite bars across the country for years to come."
Diageo first launched the #TipsFromHome program in April, giving people recipes to make delicious cocktails at-home, along with the ability to "tip" those in the bar and restaurant community who are in need across a selection of national and local charities. As part of the #TipsFromHome program, Seagram's 7 Crown partnered with five bartenders working at dive bars across the country, including St. Louis Bartender Meggan Hunott, Houston Bartender Kamikka McQueen, Indianapolis Bartender Alli King, Los Angeles Bartender Dorian Dorsey and Jacksonville Bartender Fernando Meza. You can find their take on the classic 7&7 on Seagram's Instagram.
Seagram's 7 Crown is a carefully blended American whiskey aged in oak with a rich and casual history. The whiskey shares a storied past with dive bars, as both have been an integral part of American drinking culture.
