LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 31, 2020 - ANGEL'S ENVY®, the Louisville-based craft distiller that produces small batch, finished whiskeys, today announced the second release in its Cellar Collection, ANGEL'S ENVY Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Tawny Port Wine Barrels. ANGEL'S ENVY's oldest single release to date, it is crafted from 10-year-old bourbon and is put through an extended finishing process for 10 months in tawny port barrels. The limited run of just 5,400 bottles will be available for purchase beginning on February 8 at select retailers in KY, CA, FL, IL, NY and TN, as well as at ANGEL'S ENVY's distillery in downtown Louisville.

On the nose, ANGEL'S ENVY Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Tawny Port Wine Barrels offers notes of dry fruit and oak. On the palate, notes of black pepper, toasted nuts, clove and delicate cinnamon spice are present, along with a hint of dried apricot. MGP Launches First Single Barrel Programs for George Remus® Bourbon and Rossville Union® Rye

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., Jan. 30, 2020MGP Ingredients has launched the New Year with two limited releases from George Remus Bourbon and Rossville Union Rye. The Distillery's proprietary bourbon and rye will be offered in single barrels, both available in two mash bills. George Remus Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey is offered at cask strength in two mash bills that reflect MGP's signature high-rye bourbon character with an SRP of $59.99. Rossville Union Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey is a bottled-in-bond (100-proof) release offered in two mash bills with an SRP of $49.99.

Philadelphia, PA (January 30, 2020) - Bank & Bourbon, an inherently American restaurant located in the booming culinary destination of Philadelphia, is pleased to welcome Daniel Kulisek as Bourbon Master.

In this role, Daniel will oversee Bank & Bourbon’s innovative barrel-aged cocktail program and its extensive collection of bourbon, whiskey and rye. At the restaurant, he will work closely with the entire beverage team to craft fresh and creative seasonal cocktails using the finest house-aged spirits and manage the private barrel-aging locker membership program. Daniel will also lead the restaurant’s exclusive Bourbon Tastings, new Distiller Happy Hours Series and highly curated dinners and pairings with some the industry’s most elite brands such as Woodford Reserve and Four Roses.

“Picking a drink to enjoy or pair with your meal can often be overwhelming,” says Dan Rivas, General Manager of Bank & Bourbon. “Daniel will help guide our guests through this process, help to educate them on the notes that they taste and smell, and also assist guests with pairing the right spirit with the right food for a memorable beverage and food experience.”

In order to create those perfect pairs, Kulisek traveled to Kentucky to handpick two barrel selections to showcase at the restaurant. Bank & Bourbon now features Russell’s Reserve Private Barrel and Four Roses Single OESK. Russell’s Reserve is made from the standard Wild Turkey mash bill of 72/13/12 (Corn/Rye/Barley) and has been aged for 10 years. This particular barrel of bourbon shows characteristics of caramel and vanilla, offers up notes of red fruits, especially cherry and a hint of spice making it beautifully well-balanced. The Four Roses Single OESK uses one of two mash bills; the “E” mash is 80/20 (Corn/Rye). Although this whiskey is high in corn, it has strong notes of spice, which comes from the “K.” Also aged for ten years, it has notes of tobacco, toffee and cinnamon.

Bourbon isn’t the only star at Bank & Bourbon. The restaurant menu is constantly changing to incorporate the best local and seasonal ingredients around. Partnering with Chef Joe Thomas Jr., Daniel will perfectly pair the caramel, vanilla and oak flavors that often embody bourbon with Bank & Bourbon’s signature dishes such as charcuterie boards, dry-aged steaks and delectable desserts.

Kulisek brings over 20 years of experience to his role as Bourbon Master. He most recently worked at Square 1682, where he ran the restaurant’s beverage program, overseeing their wine and spirits collection. Daniel has also traveled extensively learning firsthand about different distilleries and the different methods of whiskey production.

Daniel resides in Audubon, New Jersey with his wife Laura, and son Danny. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, as well as writing and music performance.

Latitude Beverage Announces the Debut of Wheel Horse Rye Whiskey

BOSTON, Jan. 15, 2020  Latitude Beverage, the company behind leading wine brand 90+ Cellars, is expanding its independently bottled spirits portfolio with the launch of Wheel Horse Rye. The whiskey was produced at O.Z. Tyler, a historic distillery in Owensboro, Kentucky, the site of one of the state's original permitted distilleries and a stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Wheel Horse is the first aged rye whiskey to come out of O.Z. Tyler since its reopening in 2016.

Wheel Horse is a Straight Rye Whiskey traditionally crafted by Master Distiller Jacob Call, a third-generation distiller and seventh-generation Kentuckian. Bottled at 101 proof, the small batch, sour mash whiskey is made with a grain bill of 95 percent rye and five percent malted barley. The whiskey was aged at the Owensboro facility between two and three years in new, charred American Oak barrels, giving it a rich and flavorful profile with notes of baking spices, sweet toffee and barrel-mellowed rye spice.

Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey spent the entire year of 2019 quietly racking up top awards in spirit competitions and industry publications around the globe, including 10 Best in Class and Best in Show, and 25 Platinum, Double Gold and Gold medals. Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible rated 1820 Single Barrel Whiskey a 94.5, the highest score for a Tennessee Whiskey or Bourbon. He is joined by the more than 10 other industry leaders who rated Uncle Nearest's three labels - 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey, 1820 Single Barrel Whiskey and 1884 Small Batch Whiskey - between 90-96, with an overall industry-wide rating of 92.6.

For the third year in a row, Cigar & Spirits Magazine named Uncle Nearest its No. 1 whiskey from Tennessee, awarding the brand a Double Gold medal for its 1856 Premium Aged Whiskey, a Double Gold medal for its 1820 Single Barrel and a Gold medal for its 1884 Small Batch expression. The Ultimate Spirits Challenge awarded the brand a Chairman's Trophy, its highest honor.

At the New Orleans World Bourbon Festival, in a room full of the most elite American whiskey brands, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey was crowned Best American Whiskey. The World Whiskies Awards hosted by Whisky Magazine named the brand an Icon of Whisky, bestowing its highest honor of World's Best (a title it shared with a top Kentucky Bourbon).

The SIP Awards, the only internationally recognized consumer judging spirits competition, handed Uncle Nearest two Double Gold medals, a Best in Class award, a Gold medal and a highly coveted Consumers' Choice award. At the China Wine & Spirits Awards, 1884 Small Batch Whiskey took home a Double Gold medal making it the Top American Whiskey at the biggest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in China. Uncle Nearest 1884 also took home a Double Gold medal at the 2019 Sommelier Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition hosted by Robert Whitley. For the North American Whiskey Tasting, powered by the Beverage Testing Institute, Uncle Nearest 1856 took home a Platinum medal, the competition's biggest award.

"When my great-great-grandfather, Nearest Green, was alive, his whiskey was known to be the best," said Victoria Eady Butler, master blender for Uncle Nearest. "We know this because in all the Nashville papers, the distributors would discount every whiskey from Tennessee and Kentucky on Fridays to drum up business. The only whiskey that was never discounted, and I mean never from what we have found, was the whiskey my great-great-grandfather was making."
