Johnnie Walker launches Johnnie Walker Black Label The Jane Walker Edition, donating $1 for every bottle made to organizations championing women's causes.
Johnnie Walker is proud to unveil Jane Walker, the first-ever female iteration of the brand's iconic Striding Man logo.
For more than a century, the Striding Man has been a Johnnie Walker icon and an important part of the brand's history. While his look has had subtle changes over the years, he has always conveyed the brand's unique point of view and symbolized moving forward. As a brand that has stood for progress for nearly 200 years, Johnnie Walker is proud to take this next step forward by introducing Jane Walker as another symbol of the brand's commitment to progress.
Women have played a significant role in the brand's history dating back to 1893, when John Walker & Sons purchased the Cardhu distillery from Elizabeth Cumming. Cardhu is one of the single malts that comprises Johnnie Walker Black Label and is considered the heartbeat of the blend. Elizabeth Walker, the wife of founder John Walker, was also fundamental to the creation of their own blended whisky, working alongside John and their son Alexander in the original Walker grocery shop. Today, nearly 50 percent of the brand's 12 expert blenders are women, with female leadership across marketing and C-Level executives.
"Important conversations about gender continue to be at the forefront of culture and we strongly believe there is no better time than now to introduce our Jane Walker icon and contribute to pioneering organizations that share our mission," commented Stephanie Jacoby, Vice President of Johnnie Walker. "We are proud to toast the many achievements of women and everyone on the journey towards progress in gender equality."
To support this effort as part of Keep Walking America, Johnnie Walker will be donating $1 for every bottle of the Jane Walker Edition made to organizations championing women's causes, with a total donation of up to $250,000, including a donation of $150,000 to the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund and its Monumental Women campaign. Monumental Women, a nonprofit dedicated to creating a monument honoring America's women suffragists in New York City's Central Park, where there are 23 statues of historical figures but not one honoring a real woman. Johnnie Walker is proud to support this incredible organization on a historic initiative that will make public representations of important women and people of all backgrounds a reality in the future.
"We are here to move history forward. Our project honors Stanton and Anthony as well as all the women who fought for the largest nonviolent revolution in the history of this nation, when over half the population won the right to vote. It's an instant history lesson. But most of all, it's about completing the journeys toward justice of the valiant women who came before us and achieving the full equality for women that they were denied. Monumental change is coming. We thank Johnnie Walker for their support and recognizing the importance of Women's History," said Pam Elam, President, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Statue Fund and its Monumental Women Campaign.
The introduction of the first-ever female brand icon and the Jane Walker Edition bottle represent Johnnie Walker'scommitment to inspire and champion the diverse communities moving our country forward. In addition to celebrating historic female figures through the support of Monumental Women, Johnnie Walker will also celebrate the next generation of female leaders by donating a portion of Jane Walker Edition proceeds to She Should Run, who are dedicated to inspiring women to run for office.
Johnnie Walker Black Label The Jane Walker Edition will be available nationwide starting March 2018 wherever fine spirits are sold, with a suggested retail price of $34.00 (750 ml/bottle, 40% ABV).

Long Island Spirits Releases Pine Barrens™ The First “Bottled-in-Bond” American Single Malt Whisky
Long Island Spirits, one of the country’s most innovative barley-to-bottle craft distilleries, is celebrating it eleventh anniversary by announcing the release of Pine Barrens “Bottled-in-Bond”; the first ever American Single Malt Whisky that carries the Federal Governments highly coveted designation “Bottled-in-Bond”. Long Island Spirits named by Bar Business as “American Single Malt Distillery of the Year” in 2015; is offering 300 (750ML) bottles of this rare whisky in its first release. Long Island Spirits will be offering the Pine Barrens™ “Bottled-in-Bond” series as an annual release, which will retail for about $100 with each one of these highly sought after bottles having the release year hand written on the front label.
Bottled in bond refers to American-made whisky that has been aged and bottled according to a set of legal regulations contained in the United States government's Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits. The regulations are codified in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. In order to be labeled as "Bottled-in-Bond" or "Bonded," the whisky must be the product of one distillation season and one distiller at one distillery. It must be bottled and aged in federally bonded warehouses under the U.S. government supervision for no less than 4 years. The bottled product's label must identify the distillery by DSP number.
“I am thrilled by the cult like following Pine Barrens has developed over the years and the lucky few who are able to secure a bottle of this first release, will delight in the enchantment of this whisky;” Rich Stabile, Founder and Master Distiller of Long Island Spirits, adding; “we will continue to expand our Bottle-in-Bond offerings to include our Rough Rider Bourbon and Rye Whiskies as well.”
“Long Island Spirits blazed new trails with Pine Barrens. It was a crazy idea, not only a hopped whisky, but one made from a carbonated finished and delicious beer! It was either going to be a train-wreck or a work of genius. It’s extraordinary. The hops are woven in deftly to create a singular and complex whiskey. Whenever I travel to Ireland I used to gift a different bottle of American whiskey to friends & family there (whiskey experts all). Now every time it’s Pine Barrens. I await this bonded iteration with great excitement;” praised Francis Schott, Renowned Top Restaurateur and Popular Radio Host.
“This richly textured spirit has a cigar/cedar richness contains botanic-like qualities of eucalyptus & juniper. The decadent honey sweetness carries notes of cinnamon oatmeal, raisin & cherry skin in the everlasting finish. Bottled in Bond has an added richness to really stand out in a crowded field!” added, Gene Charness, Founder of Warehouse Liquors.
Pine Barrens American Single Malt Straight Whisky is named after the central Suffolk County, New York pine and wetland area, which is over 100,000 acres of Long Island. The Pine Barrens forest preserve, serves as a watershed that protects the Magothy aquifer that was formed 21,000 years ago when the glaciers receded creating one of the most pristine water sources in the United States. These pure water sources are iron free and ideally suited for producing the world’s finest whisky.
Pine Barrens Whisky gets it start as a deliciously drinkable Barley Wine Ale beer that Long Island Spirits brews and ferments for about 3 weeks; rather than using a traditional “beer wash” or “distillers beer” that other single malts are produced from. Pine Barrens Bottled-in-Bond is then double copper pot distilled prior to being carefully aged in new American Oak casks for at least 4 years. Finally, this amazing whisky is then ready to be bottled at100 Proof.

Innis & Gunn and Tullamore D.E.W. Combine Scots and Irish Craftsmanship to Launch New Limited Edition Irish Whiskey Barrel Aged Stout
EDINBURGH, Scotland, February 19, 2018 Two pioneers of craft brewing and distilling, Innis & Gunn and Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey, have collaborated for the first time to create Kindred Spirits, a limited edition Scottish stout aged using triple distilled Irish whiskey barrels.
Using a unique barrel ageing process developed by the brewing team at Innis & Gunn, Kindred Spirits is matured using the finest triple distilled, triple blend Irish whiskey barrels from Tullamore D.E.W. to create a smooth and delicious Scottish Stout that is greater than the sum of its parts.
The result is a one of a kind craft stout - a perfect pairing of the character of Innis & Gunn's rich flavour packed beer, and the sweet, spicy, smooth taste of Tullamore D.E.W., with notes of dark chocolate and coffee alongside hints of vanilla and oak in the 6.1% ABV brew.
To mark their special collaboration, Kindred Spirits celebrates the rich part that music plays in both Scottish and Irish culture, as much as whiskey and beer, by bringing together one of each country's finest musical exports to collaborate on a cover of a traditional Scottish folk song. Irish band Ash and Scotland's Frightened Rabbit met over a Kindred Spirits in Innis & Gunn's hometown of Edinburgh to create the Kindred Sessions, now available to watch at https://youtu.be/Opv7UCds_fM
Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn's founder and master brewer, commented:
"The Scots and Irish share a powerful Celtic connection in our culture and our character, a bond that draws us together with Tullamore D.E.W. A brew that is greater than the sum of its parts, Kindred Spirits is a celebration of the best of Scots and Irish craftsmanship, and in our partnership using our unique barrel into beer ageing process with Tullamore's legendary Irish whiskey barrels, it has sparked the creation of an exciting and unique flavour packed alternative to the usual stouts."
John Quinn, Tullamore D.E.W. Global Brand Ambassador, commented:
"Our partnership with Innis & Gunn brings us closer to a brand that shares our passion for innovation and creating products of exceptional quality and character. Beer and whiskey have always been 'malt cousins' because malted barley is a key ingredient in both, and we celebrate this unique bond through D.E.W. and a Brew - the pairing of Tullamore D.E.W. with great craft beers like Kindred Spirits for an evening full of true character."
Kindred Spirits is available now in the UK and Ireland, US, Canada, Sweden, France, Australia, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Singapore.
