Deschutes Brewery and Bendistillery Announce Second Black Butte Whiskey Release
November 30, 2017 – Bend, Oregon – Deschutes Brewery and Bendistillery are pleased to announce the second release of their acclaimed Black Butte Whiskey. The 2017 batch will go on sale Wednesday, December 6th at 4pm at Bendistillery’s Crater Lake Spirits Downtown Tasting Room located at 1024 NW Bond Street, Bend, Oregon. Black Butte Whiskey is an ongoing collaboration between Deschutes and Bendistillery. It is an American malt whiskey distilled from the wash of Deschutes Brewery’s famed Black Butte Porter beer. Bottles of the 2017 batch will be for sale only at Bendistillery’s Downtown Tasting Room and, like the 2016 release, are expected to sell out on the first day. Deschutes will be selling the 2017 edition by the glass at their Bend and Portland pubs over the course of the coming year while supplies last. It will also be available at the brewery’s new PDX Airport pub when it opens next year.
Black Butte Whiskey is double distilled and aged in new #4 char new American oak barrels. The resulting spirit is a complex whiskey that retains the malty, chocolatey notes of Black Butte Porter and finishes with the soft, nearly sweet character that has become the hallmark of spirits made with the water from the Cascade Mountains of Central Oregon. The idea for the whiskey began nearly 20 years ago as an ongoing conversation over beers between Jim Bendis, founder of Bendistillery and Gary Fish, founder of Deschutes Brewery.
“It all started when I distilled and barreled a small batch of Deschutes’ Black Butte Porter beer as an experiment,” said Bendis. “We all had forgotten about the project until we ran across that original single barrel when we moved the distillery. Tasting that spirit is what really inspired us to collaborate with Deschutes. It brings happy tears to my eyes to see how this 20-year-old dream is now a product so well received and highly anticipated.”
“This whiskey is more about an opportunity to innovate at a new level by elevating the beer and creating a very different product altogether,” said Fish. “This is what can happen when you’re having fun and not bound by convention!”

Jameson Irish Whiskey Introduces Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition
NEW YORK, NY – (November 30, 2017) Jameson® Irish Whiskey introduces Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition, combining the smooth taste of Jameson and hoppy notes from IPA craft beer, together in one whiskey.
Nearly 2-years after Dave Quinn, Head of Whiskey Science at Jameson, and Shane Long, head brewer at a local Irish brewery, created the idea and taste behind Jameson Caskmates, the brand is expanding its Caskmates offering with a new and distinct expression featuring notes of citrus and hops from whiskey aged in IPA beer barrels. Because of its powerful presence and flavor, IPA is popular among craft beer drinkers making it a neighborhood staple and perfect collaboration for the smooth taste Jameson is known for.
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition is created using the same process established with Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, the original whiskey and beer collaboration. Starting with barrels from the Midleton distillery, the local Irish brewery receives the propriety oak whiskey barrels to be filled with their local craft IPA. Once the IPA has imparted its crisp citrus notes, the barrels are sent back to Jameson to be reused to finish Jameson Original, creating Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition. As a result of time spent in the IPA barrels, Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition enhances the smooth taste of Jameson with a crisp, hoppy finish.
The process in which Jameson Caskmates IPA is created takes time and effort, but the relentless search for the finest ingredients, the Jameson tradition of triple distillation and the collaboration with a distinctly, flavorful local craft beer is the secret behind the creation of this unique whiskey.
“Quality & taste have always been our reason to be,” said Sebastien Borda, Brand Director Jameson Irish Whiskey, Pernod Ricard USA. “Jameson Caskmates IPA was born from the dedication of the whiskey making tradition that John Jameson established in 1780, combined with a relentless pursuit of original and innovative expressions for our whiskeys. Jameson Caskmates IPA brings the crisp, hoppy notes that characterizes IPA beer together with the triple-distilled smoothness of Jameson to create a one-of-a-kind and exceptional tasting whiskey.”
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition is best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or alongside your favorite local craft IPA to further reveal the notes of hops and citrus brought by the IPA finish.
Available at retail locations and neighborhood bars nationwide, Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition is 40% Alc./Vol. (80 proof) and retails for a suggested retail price of $29.99 per 750 mL bottle.
TASTE RESPONSIBLY.

Irish Spirit Takes "Dublin’s Own" DWD Whiskey Back to the USA
Dublin, Ireland, November 24, 2017 -- Coinciding with this weekend’s launch of their online store for rare and historic Irish whiskey, Irish Spirit have announced an exclusive release of historic DWD Irish whiskey "Heritage Edition" to US and international markets, where the brand thrived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Newly launched online retailer Irish Spirit has one of the world's greatest collections of fine and rare Irish whiskeys, including the entire Midleton Very Rare (1984-2017), available for worldwide delivery. As the world’s fastest growing major spirit, Irish whiskey is drawing international attention. Though thirst for Irish whiskey is high, the majority of its produce is difficult to source outside of Ireland. Irish Spirit offers whiskey lovers worldwide the chance to sample fine Irish whiskey products that are otherwise only available in Ireland.
The first release under the DWD name in over 70 years, the DWD "Heritage Edition" is available exclusively through IrishSpirit.com for US and international markets. "The Heritage Edition" is a blend of malt and grain whiskey, both double and triple distilled, aged between five and 10 years and matured mainly in first fill American oak Bourbon casks. Over three years of production, DWD have created and reviewed over 117 blends and assembled a panel of master distillers to craft, blend, judge and guide their processes.
"The revived Dublin Whiskey Distillery brand is the ideal figurehead for the Irish whiskey renaissance. Given its popularity in America of the early 20th century, it is only fitting that we should return DWD Irish whiskey to the US during this period of Irish whiskey renaissance," said Irish Spirit Brand Ambassador Marcus O’Connor. "We’re very proud to assist DWD Irish whiskey in its quest to assume its mantle as the 'finest whiskey in the world,' as the exclusive distributor of DWD whiskey to US and international markets."
DWD Irish Whiskey, marketed as "The finest whiskey in the world," was a popular choice in the 19th century for Irish whiskey drinkers worldwide, and in particular, in America. Famine and starvation in Ireland in the mid 1800s prompted mass emigration to America. By 1890, 40% of Irish-born people were living abroad. Antique Victorian branded mirrors in Dublin’s pubs, proclaiming "Dublin’s Own" are a reminder of DWD’s heyday. However, turbulent history and poor treatment at the hands of government and shareholders brought the Irish whiskey industry, and the DWD brand, to its knees.
"Irish Spirit are curating a fine collection of whiskey expressions reflecting the intriguing history that Irish whiskey has experienced," said Lorcan Rossi, Chief Executive Officer of DWD Whiskey. "We’re very excited to be taking ‘Dublin’s Own’ back to key markets of the past, working with a team who clearly share our passion for Irish whiskey old and new."
Irish Spirit is a vocal champion for the Irish whiskey revival, and seeks to work closely with brands, distilleries and industry figures to stimulate Irish whiskey sales and tourism. The team aims to educate whiskey fans worldwide through the website’s extensive repository of information dedicated to Irish whiskey, including distillery history, tasting notes for each bottle and the Irish Spirit blog.

Brand Ambassador Marcus O’Connor is available for interview. Please RSVP to arrange, Miriam Rune: miriam@irishspirit.com / 07740 339 628.

As Director of Sales for Nine Banded, Amir Arad brings experience in the liquor startup space as well as liquor-specific sales data analysis and implementation.
