They’ll be pouring tastings of their Apple Pie Moonshine, Citrus Forward Gin, and Little Barrel Bourbon for your enjoyment. This is the Buffalo debut of this emerging distillery that’s fast gaining a reputation for their perfectly balanced artisanal spirits.
“With our tastings, we like to make sure we’re offering our customers something truly memorable. And trust me, you’re going to want to try that bourbon,” says David Rivers, KegWorks’ Founder and President.
For those patrons who don’t like the straight stuff, Black Button will also be using their liquor to mix up a couple of fresh cocktail samples that are sure to make your mouth water. Woodford Reserve Reveals Rye Whiskey, the Brand's Latest Product Extension
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 21, 2015 - Woodford Reserve today announces the release of its latest permanent product extension, Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, which will be available for purchase in select markets throughout the country beginning in February. The latest release showcases the company's ongoing commitment to both whiskey lovers and innovation within the industry.
Woodford Reserve Rye is the third permanent line extension to join the portfolio, which includes the original Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select and Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. When it comes to the craft of bourbon and whiskey, Woodford Reserve prides itself on maintaining an original and contemporary approach that focuses primarily on the adjustment of one of the five sources of flavor. To complement and emphasize the spice characteristics found in the original Woodford Reserve, the Rye uses a base that's 53 percent rye, resulting in a liquid that's both more balanced, and refreshingly subtle.
Since 2006, Master Distiller Chris Morris has been hard at work crafting a rye that's worthy of the Woodford Reserve name. Because of the consistency of the mash, rye is notoriously more difficult to craft than a traditional bourbon, requiring more attention to detail throughout production, leaving the bulk of production to only the most experienced Master Distillers.
"One of the primary reasons behind Woodford's growth into the number one selling ultra-premium[i] bourbon in America is because of our commitment to flavor, and that's something that's engrained in everything we do," said Morris. "Not only does it affect how I approach bourbon production personally, it's the lens through which we view the future of Woodford Reserve, and I couldn't think of a liquid that better embodies that than the rye."
"As a brand, one of the things we're most proud of is the passion and commitment that our fans have, both for Woodford Reserve, whiskey and bourbon in general. For us, releasing a rye is a chance to give back to these consumers," said Woodford Reserve Brand Director Jason Kempf. "Time and time again, we kept hearing requests for a rye. Woodford Reserve has always maintained a commitment to the spirit of innovation, and the rye is no exception. We're excited to give our fans something they've been so vocal about for so many years, and that is finally ready to share with them."
Woodford Reserve Rye is produced with the same heritage and tradition that surrounds the site of the iconic Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. As early as the mid-1800s, the site has been the location for visionary distilling practices, an attitude that Oscar Pepper and Master Distiller James Crow, the first people to distill at this location, fully embraced. Together, they perfected several whiskey production processes that continue to be used throughout the industry and have since become synonymous with great whiskey. Today, the Woodford Reserve Distillery is visited by more than 130,000 visitors each year.
Woodford Reserve Rye will be available in February 2015, with an MSRP of $37.99 for a 750ml and in select markets, including:California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York (Metro and Upstate), New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

Glenmorangie Lasanta's Enhanced Recipe Wins Praise From World Expert
NEW YORK, Jan. 5, 2015 The refined Glenmorangie Lasanta has won a seal of approval from the world's leading whisky guide. Jim Murray hailed the single malt as 'a delightful surprise', awarding it 93 points out of a possible 100 in the latest edition of his Whisky Bible.
Glenmorangie Lasanta is one of three whiskies in Glenmorangie's Extra Matured Range. These single malts spend ten years in bourbon casks, then a further two in exclusive ex-Sauternes, port or sherry casks, which add complex layers to their taste. Named after the Scots Gaelic word for warmth and passion, Glenmorangie Lasanta has been refined to make the spicy, full-bodied whisky sweeter, and smoother. Extra-matured in Oloroso sherry casks and now with additional finishing in Pedro Ximenez casks (known as "The King" of sherries), the resulting expression has an altogether more rounded character.
The 2015 edition of Jim Murray's Whisky Bible is full of praise for Glenmorangie's refinements. Murray, a global authority on whisky, writes of Glenmorangie Lasanta: "This new 12-year-old incarnation has got off to a flying start." Describing the single malt as "quietly rich", he adds: "Really love the stewed plums and spotted dick*; wonderfully soft delivery, backed handsomely by a two-toned sherry fruitiness, with dry and cream being just about on equal terms. The sugars appear both fruit and cask borne, though it is the deeper Eccles cake and treacle notes which carry furthest... a delightful surprise."
Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, said: "We are thrilled that Glenmorangie Lasanta has won the appreciation of Jim Murray in his 2015 Whisky Bible. When I decided to fine-tune its recipe, I wanted to enhance the whisky, further reflecting the warmth and passion which Glenmorangie Lasanta's name denotes. This single malt is extra-matured in Oloroso sherry casks, which give a richer, rounder finish and now further finished in Pedro Ximenez casks which provides a sweeter depth of flavor. We believe whisky drinkers will be thrilled with our refinements – just as Jim Murray is."
