The distillery for Wild Turkey Bourbon is in Kentucky, situated on a deep limestone shelf on the Kentucky River. The shelf acts as a natural filter and provides the distillery with crystal clear water, vital to making such a high-quality product. Wild Turkey features the legendary father and son Master Distilling team of Jimmy and Eddie Russell, who have over 100 years of collective experience working at the Wild Turkey distillery.

The New Agreement Comes at the Mark of the 20th Anniversary of Square One Debuting as America's Original All-Organic Spirits Company

Ten years ago, before rye whiskey's present-day popularity, Eddie Russell hand-selected and laid down what would eventually become Master's Keep Triumph. Inspired by the affinity that his son, Associate Blender Bruce Russell, has for rye, Eddie began exploring the possibilities offered by the spicy and bold style of whiskey. After a decline in popularity post-prohibition, many distillers pulled the spirit from shelves while Wild Turkey held true to its convictions and continued to produce top-quality rye with mainstay products like Wild Turkey 101 Rye. The name Triumph speaks to the contemporary revival of rye whiskey, now recognized for its quality and distinctive profile, and to Wild Turkey's reverence for all the spirit has to offer.

The Master's Keep series first started in 2015 as a way for Master Distiller Eddie Russell to showcase his unique approach to making bourbon. Triumph is the second rye whiskey to be released within the series, following Master's Keep Cornerstone in 2019. Building upon the high standard set by Cornerstone and fan favorites Wild Turkey 101 Rye and Rare Breed Rye, Triumph serves as an evolution of the distillery's rye craftsmanship while proudly donning the oldest age statement ever for a Wild Turkey rye.

Master's Keep Triumph's extended maturation helped to develop a complex and bold flavor profile that's consistent with the high quality that fans have come to expect from the Master's Keep collection. The 104-proof expression features sweet honey and clove notes that transition to dark chocolate, dates and spice with a rich mocha-coffee and black pepper finish. While conventional ryes are enjoyed by many in cocktails, Master's Keep Triumph gives reason to enjoy rye on the rocks or neat.

The World's Most Admired Whiskey Announces 2024 Release Of 10 Year Rye


LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 14, 2024 For the first time since becoming the first American whiskey to be named the World's Most Admired Whiskey, Michter's will be releasing its acclaimed 10 Year Kentucky Straight Rye. The release is a single barrel product bottled from stocks over ten years old that have been selected by Michter's production team.

"For over 20 years at Michter's, we have been hard at work trying to show that American Rye can be a world class spirit. Along with our US*1 Rye, our 10 Year Rye has led the way for us. In fact, the first rye released by Kentucky Michter's was our 10 Year Rye," commented Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco.

Different from many of the rye whiskeys produced in Indiana, Canada, and elsewhere, Michter's 10 Year Rye bears the hallmarks of its home state as a quintessential "Kentucky-style" rye. Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee said, "When I came to Michter's, I developed a greater appreciation for Kentucky-style rye with its additional flavor nuances that come from having more corn and more malted barley in a majority rye mashbill."

The barrels released for this 2024 bottling were approved by Michter's Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. Wilson observed, "What strikes me about the 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye is its elegance and complexity without being spice dominant. The spice is beautifully integrated with hints of floral notes, fruit, honey, citrus and chocolate that create a wonderfully balanced experience perfect for a summer evening."

A 92.8 proof (46.4% alcohol by volume) spirit, Michter's 10 Year Rye has a suggested retail price of $200 in the U.S. The Louisville-based distillery plans to allocate this release in limited quantities to its export markets as well.

“We called Whiskey JYPSI’s Legacy 002 ‘The Alchemist,’ because Alchemists took unexpected elements and tried to change them into gold – turn them into something greater,” says Outsiders Spirits whiskey maker Ari Sussman. “That’s the job of a good whiskey blender. You start with high-quality ingredients and hopefully create something that’s even greater - more than just the components.”

60% of the blend is an 11-year-old corn whiskey from Tennessee aged in re-charred American oak barrels for sweetness. With fewer tannins thanks to the re-charring, this whiskey is smoother and rounder than most from Tennessee.

36% of the blend is a Canadian rye aged in ex-bourbon casks for 18 years. The liquid is then segmented into thirds and finished for 6 months in either port, Spanish vermouth, or sherry barrels for added layers of dark red fruit, raisins, and oxidized wine. The final product is a rye whose spice is brilliantly countered by deep cherry, prune, and fig notes.

The last 4% of the blend is a rare, 10-year-old 100% Indian single malt matured in India’s high temperatures and humidity. This is some of the finest Indian single malt available, with a Double Gold award at the San Francisco International Spirits Competition of its own to prove it.

The combination of these rare spirits lives up to its name, for a blend that is truly greater than the sum of its components. An aroma of fruits, caramel, butterscotch, and macadamia nuts. Medium-plus viscosity. A balanced flavor of fruit and nuts with layers of cocoa, dried cherries, cinnamon and clove, and light hints of oak. All ending in a rye-forward finish that lingers with notes of chocolate, dates, and roasted almonds. For a final blend this is pure gold.

If you didn't know that Tasmania has a storied history of producing outstanding single malt whiskies, you're not alone. This small, rugged island south of mainland Australia and east of New Zealand is more renowned for its pristine microclimate and unique wildlife than its distilleries. But for whiskey aficionados, this island harbors a special secret: it's a veritable Eden for small batch whiskies. Chances are, you are not going to find a Tasmanian whisky on the back bar of your favorite watering hole or even at your local purveyor of fine spirits. With only a handful of craft producers scattered across the island, the quest for Tasmanian whisky requires exploration.

Tasmania experienced its own prohibition, from 1830 until the 1990s, stifling all production until a scotch-loving land surveyor, inspired by a fishing trip in the Tasmanian highlands, successfully lobbied the government to reverse the ban. Centuries-old production methods have emerged from hibernation and are now being recognized and awarded at spirits competitions around the globe.

In its quest to deliver its fourth ultra-premium release, Rare Hare partnered with one of the pioneers of Tasmanian whisky making, the acclaimed Hellyers Road Distillery, one of Australia's oldest and most revered distilleries. Hellyers Road Distillery is Tasmania's first single malt whisky producer to emerge during this renaissance, and its aged expressions are only now becoming available in this post-prohibition era. We named this special expression "The Tempest," a nod to Shakespeare's tale of nature's power and deliverance.  The Tempest is smooth and mellow yet delivers a tour de force of flavors and a long finish to savor. It is the perfect embodiment of Tasmania's temperate maritime climate, where hot summers, short cold winters, abundant sunshine, and low humidity create the perfect storm for producing exceptional single malt whiskey.

Hellyers Road Distillery employs a centuries-old pot still distillation process that spans three days, followed by a secondary slow still distillation to yield a whisky of unparalleled quality and character. The air currents that bring rain to Tasmania's western shores originate in Antarctica, traveling thousands of miles across the open ocean before reaching the island. The resulting water source is akin to soft rainwater, a unique characteristic not found in other regions producing single malt whiskies. The malt and barley used to create this small batch elixir are locally sourced and benefit from the rich soil and unique Tasmanian climate.

While most Tasmanian whiskies are aged in small barrels to accelerate maturation, Hellyers Road Distillery aged this whisky for seventeen years in standard-size bourbon casks, and then aged it for another three years in port casks.

After 10 Years, Ironclad Distillery is Serving Up Beds Alongside Their Bourbon


Ironclad Distillery has purchased Kenmore Inn, now offering a B&B with bourbon tastings

FREDERICKSBURG, Virginia - (May 9, 2024) – People love staying in a bed and breakfast. There is just something about them that makes the overnight trip more memorable and quaint. Add to that bourbon tastings, and the idea of a B&B&B gets a lot of people taking notice. Ironclad Distillery purchased the Kenmore Inn and will now serve up beds alongside their bourbon. The bed, breakfast, and bourbon Inn is now taking reservations for overnight stays and to host special events.

"We have created a unique experience that people are going to love," said Stephen King, founder and president of Ironclad Distillery and the Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room. “Imagine being in the historic area of Fredericksburg, sipping bourbon, and taking in this 18th-century home."

The next step for this family-owned company was to purchase the Kenmore Inn to create the Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting bed and breakfast. Founded in 2014, the trio of King family members who own the business were ready to take it to the next level. They have been thriving as a beloved local bourbon distillery, and it was time to take things up a notch.

The family takes an interest in history, having named their distillery after the location where the first Ironclad ships battled, they are now combining it with the history of the Kenmore Inn. What was once a residential property and now a B&B is located in the historical area of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Guests can enjoy the local history, relax in the charming sitting areas of the home, and enjoy the two bourbon-tasting rooms.

A few interesting facts about the bed and breakfast property include:

  • It's from circa 1793 and features nine rooms for guests. The main bedrooms are part of the original home and feature original fireplaces, while the other bedrooms are from the addition built in the 1930s. The rooms feature antiques and have a traditional décor.
  • Each room has its bourbon cart for tastings, and guests can have breakfast each day with a selection of sweets and savory items with a Southern flair.
  • The Inn is three stories tall and has a bourbon-tasting room for guests and the public, as well as several beautiful areas that are for relaxing.
  • The bourbon tasting room is the central hub of the Inn. It serves bourbon tastings, cocktails, and a light snack menu until 8 p.m. There are also sitting areas on the property where people can relax and unwind.
  • The Inn also offers various spaces and accommodations for hosting events, including corporate events, weddings, and more. The event spaces can accommodate up to 120 people and offer various options to meet planning needs.

“This is a beautiful property, and we invite people to stay here or stop by for a bourbon tasting," added King. “Every time we convert someone into loving bourbon, we ring the bell, which has been ringing a lot. We look forward to giving everyone a taste of our family bourbon."

The company was started in the Port of Newport News, Virginia, by Stephen King, Owen King, and Kara King. The Inn is situated within view of the most famous Civil War naval battle between the first ironclad ships. The company was named Ironclad Distillery after the location. Each batch of authentic bourbon is fermented, distilled, and bottled under one roof.

The Kenmore Inn, located in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, was built circa 1793. The new Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room offers nine residential rooms to choose from, each with a bourbon cart.
