Goodwood Brewing Company and Chicken Cock Whiskey have collaborated to release Chicken Cock Barrel Aged Brown Ale

Goodwood Brewing & Chicken Cock Whiskey Collaborate On Chicken Cock Barrel-Aged Brown Ale

Charleston, South Carolina (August 21, 2017) - Goodwood Brewing Company and Chicken Cock Whiskey have collaborated to release Chicken Cock Barrel Aged Brown Ale. The cultivated relationship between Goodwood Brewing and Chicken Cock Whiskey came by way of a discerning introduction from Breakthru Beverage South Carolina, the area distributer both companies utilize. The Chicken Cock Barrel Aged Brown Ale will be released exclusively in South Carolina as a draft-only offering.

At Goodwood Brewing, aging beers in wood stands at the cornerstone of the brewery’s commitment to exceptional beers with extraordinary depth of flavor. Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, the barrel aging process is an homage to the region’s distilling legacy and bourbon barrels that have so much flavor left to give. Now, Goodwood Brewery couples expertise with uncharted territory as the partnership with Chicken Cock Whiskey marks the brewery’s first brand collaboration.

“We’ve seen brewery collaborations for years. Breweries partnering with spirits brands is a new and exciting thing we’re seeing in the adult beverage world. We barrel age beers all the time, but creating a single batch beer with one brand produces a truly unique beer and experience. It’s also a great way to showcase both brands to a new audience,” said Ted Mitzlaff, Goodwood Brewing CEO.

Grain & Barrel Spirits recently debuted the Chicken Cock 160th Anniversary Limited Release, Single Barrel 8-Year-Old Bourbon. While the bourbon brand was popular during the 19th century, Chicken Cock really hit its stride during prohibition. Multiple attempts were made to bring “the famous old brand” back to its former glory. In 2013 Grain & Barrel purchased Chicken Cock and is now restoring it to its rightful pantheon among the great American whiskies. “We’re proud to collaborate with Goodwood Brewing Company, a brewery as serious about their craft as we are at Grain & Barrel. This is a partnership that places a premium on quality. The Chicken Cock Bourbon Barrel Brown Ale is a distinctly delicious and artful expression. There are whiskey connoisseurs and beer lovers for whom it will be innovative and exciting. We couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Matti Anttila, CEO and Founder of Grain & Barrel Spirits.

Thanks to the official rules of making bourbon, which state that the whiskey must be aged in new American oak, there is a thriving secondary market for bourbon barrels. Just as with hard alcohol, beer picks up a richness and sweetness from the wood and even a bit of the liquor’s flavor. Distillers carefully created the bourbon that is now the 160th Anniversary Chicken Cock Whiskey with 70% Corn, 21% Rye and 9% Malted Barley. Fresh white American oak barrels are charred
before filling with Chicken Cock whiskey for maturation. The barrel staves are charred to level four, the highest commonly used char level also known as the “alligator char” due to the rough, shiny texture the staves acquire. The barrel heads are gently charred to a level two.

The Chicken Cock Barrel Aged Brown Ale by Goodwood Brewing Company spent a month in the 160th Anniversary, 8-year-old bourbon barrels. The brew is nutty on the front end, and finishes with notes of vanilla and toasty wood. With just the right amount of booziness at 6.5% ABV, this brown ale offers an excellent synergy between bourbon and beer.

Ole Smoky® Distillery Nationally Launches Whiskey Line In Fall 2017

imageGATLINBURG, TN ----- AUGUST 14, 2017

Ole Smoky Distillery announced today the national launch of its whiskey line. The company plans to build off the success of the whiskeys’ local Tennessee launch in 2016 by introducing the top three flavors to bars, restaurants and retail stores across the U.S.

“We are confident that this business endeavor will bring the company great success. Having two categories under the very powerful Ole Smoky brand is a huge win, and we know it will be a great opportunity to increase our fan base,” says the CEO of Ole Smoky, Robert Hall.

Ole Smoky’s whiskey line began when the company rebranded the former Davy Crockett Whiskey and renovated their distillery in February 2016. Up until now, the whiskeys were only widely available in Tennessee and with limited availability in Georgia and Colorado. After a year of seeing great success in this market, the company decided to introduce their top flavors (Straight Tennessee Bourbon, Mango Habanero, and Salty Caramel) to locations throughout the country.

One of the first national accounts to take in Ole Smoky whiskey on a larger scale is Buffalo Wild Wings. The sports bar/restaurant chain plans to feature an Ole Smoky Mango Habanero Whiskey cocktail on all their menus beginning in October 2017 – in the heart of Football season. Buffalo Wild Wings is the first of many locations where consumers can purchase Ole Smoky whiskey. National restaurant chain, Twin Peaks will also be adding Ole Smoky Salty Caramel Whiskey to their menus this fall.

“The whiskey line is a great addition to Ole Smoky’s collection of moonshine,” says Ole Smoky’s President of Wholesale, Michael Bender. “By capitalizing on our existing brand affinity as well as the whiskey trend amongst millennials, this launch is sure to be successful.”

About Ole Smoky® Whiskey:
In 2016, Ole Smoky launched its whiskey line when it merged their brand with another family-owned Tennessee whiskey business. Crafted from a century old recipe, the white oak, more than 4-years-aged whiskey is hand picked from barrels based on taste and color ensuring the highest quality.

Ole Smoky’s barrel-aged whiskey stands out amongst the rest because of the fact that it is mellowed through sugar maple charcoal until the desired flavor is acquired. Ingredients include locally grown grain, yeast, water, and a few other proprietary ingredients.

Ole Smoky’s offers a variety of whiskeys at its distillery in Gatlinburg, TN, including Straight Tennessee Whiskey, Blended Tennessee Whiskey, Salty Caramel, Mango Habanero, Cinnamon, Pecan, Maple, Root Beer, Tennessee Mud, and Cookies & Cream. Ole Smoky Straight Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey, Mango Habanero, and Salty Caramel will soon be available at bars, restaurants, and retailers throughout U.S. For the true Ole Smoky Whiskey experience, you can enjoy free tours and tastings by visiting the Gatlinburg distillery, The Barrelhouse.

Jim Beam® and global brand partner Mila Kunis announce the launch of Jim Beam® Vanilla, the latest addition to Jim Beam’s flavored portfolio.

Continuing a 222-year family tradition of innovation and exploration, Jim Beam distillers have struck the perfect balance of subtle Madagascar vanilla bean with hints of oak and caramel bourbon notes, producing a sweet vanilla aroma and golden brown color. Bartenders with early samples of the product have suggested mixing Jim Beam Vanilla year-round with cola and a cherry garnish for extra color and flavor.

Jim Beam's flavored whiskey portfolio continues to contribute to the brand's positive momentum following the launch of Jim Beam® Apple in 2015. According to Nielsen research, Jim Beam's sales saw a 15 percent growth (USD dollar share) in the 12-month period that ended July 15.

"Jim Beam pioneered flavors in the bourbon category several years ago and the trend has continued to grow. We are always innovating, and are proud to offer a variety of flavors in our portfolio," said Jim Beam's 7th generation master distiller Fred Noe. "Of course, our newest is Jim Beam Vanilla, with a rich and smooth profile. But don't just take my word for it, sit back and enjoy a sip."

Jim Beam's global brand partner Mila Kunis is also excited about the new innovation. Kunis will be featured in social and digital content around the official campaign launch this fall.

"I'm thrilled to collaborate with my friends in Kentucky to debut Jim Beam Vanilla," said Kunis. "If you're like me, you love the taste of bourbon but are sometimes looking for something a little different. Jim Beam Vanilla is perfect when I want a touch of flavor."

Bottled at 70-proof, new Jim Beam Vanilla contains vanilla liqueur blended with Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. It offers the perfect balance of subtle vanilla sweetness and hints of oak and deep caramel bourbon notes. Jim Beam Vanilla joins the brand's existing flavored whiskey portfolio already in market, including Jim Beam® Apple, Jim Beam®Kentucky Fire™, Jim Beam® Honey and Red Stag by Jim Beam® Black Cherry.

Jim Beam Vanilla has a suggested retail price of $15.99 for 750mL, and is now available in bars and retail locations nationwide. Prices may vary based on market and product size.----
