Rhetoric Whiskey Introduced as Third Addition to the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company

image

TULLAHOMA, Tenn., June 18, 2014 For the whiskey aficionado who dreams of selecting the choicest barrels from the guarded corners of historic rickhouses, Rhetoric Whiskey is a dream come true. The newest addition to the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is a highly limited craft bourbon that will be progressively aged and released over the coming years – the 20-year-old variant will be released this year, the 21-year-old will be released in 2015, and so on. This approach will grant whiskey enthusiasts the chance to compare these exclusive offerings as they mature and collect an enviable series of Rhetoric Whiskies.

The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company was created in early 2014 to locate forgotten barrels of craft whiskey from around the world and share them with discerning adult fans, who are encouraged to sip slowly and responsibly. Rhetoric, the third variant to be released from the company, is aged 20 years for its first release and is expected to begin appearing on select shelves throughout the U.S. this month under strict allocation due to limited supply.

Rhetoric stocks were discovered in warehouses at the Stitzel-Weller facility in Louisville, Ky., and distilled in both the New and Old Bernheim distilleries in Louisville. The whiskey is beautifully aged and hand bottled in Tullahoma, Tenn. Beginning with a smoky and leathery nose hinting of ripe apples, Rhetoric tastes of smoked vanilla, toasted rye and dried fruit before a long full finish of cherry blossom and bitter chocolate. Rhetoric carries a suggested retail price of $85.

"Aging whiskey is a fascinating process and one that whiskey aficionados around the world love learning about," said Ewan Morgan, Orphan Barrel Master of Whiskey.  "I've no doubt the progressive aging and release of Rhetoric will merit some spirited debate among us whiskey geeks about which year tastes best!"

Rhetoric's packaging features an intricate gold label with a hummingbird rising above chaos and confusion to clarity and reason. The background, reminiscent of the oak barrels in which the whiskey aged, will grow deeper in color as Rhetoric is progressively aged and released in the years to come.

The Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is headquartered in Tullahoma, Tenn. where the whiskies are bottled. Like the other Orphan Barrel whiskies, Rhetoric has long awaited a place to call home. Orphan Barrel is proud to bring Rhetoric Whiskey into the family and reminds consumers who get their hands on a bottle to sip slowly and responsibly.

Crown Royal Commemorates 75th Anniversary with Limited Edition Blend

imageGIMLI, Manitoba, June 12, 2014 In 1939 the Royal Couple, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, made history when they became the first reigning monarchs to journey across North America, traveling the vast distance by train.

Upon hearing the historic news, a Canadian entrepreneur set out to craft a whisky suited for the pair. With perfection on his mind, he sampled over 600 blends and reviewed hundreds of different types of glass, labels and caps, before cloaking the final product in a purple bag to represent the purple robe of royalty and, fittingly, calling the whisky blend Crown Royal. The train carrying the couple was stocked with 10 cases of the exquisite blend. Rumors of the unrivaled Canadian Whisky quickly spread and Crown Royal was officially born.

75 years later, Master Blender Andrew MacKay has created an exceptionally smooth limited edition whisky to commemorate the brand's monumental anniversary and celebrate the illustrious Crown Royal blending tradition. Crown Royal Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend combines hand-picked whiskies from the brand's extensive stock, including a special whisky from the historic Coffey rye still, residing in Gimli, Manitoba Canada.

Rich with history, and carrying notes of the Coffey rye that continues to define the signature taste of Crown Royal whisky, Crown Royal Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend is deliciously balanced with vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, and deep rich toffee, with soft spice and a long, warm finish.

"Crown Royal was originally created for royalty, crafted over time and the fact that the whisky is still being enjoyed 75 years later is really special to all of us at Crown Royal," said MacKay. "We're excited to share this special limited edition blend with consumers and look forward to celebrating many more years of unmatched whisky."

Crown Royal Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend is encased in a regal gold and silver carton with a magnetic enclosure. The unique silver embroidered bag with gold accents is a variation on the purple bag consumers have grown to know and love. The elegant bottle, which is taller and broader than Crown Royal Deluxe, displays etched detailing and a unique gold crown cap.

Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, Crown Royal Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend is an 80 proof (40% ABV) variant that will be sold at a suggested retail price of $75 for a 750 ml bottle. The brand will release a limited amount of bottles of Crown Royal Monarch 75th Anniversary Blend, each of which will be individually numbered.

As consumers across the country join Crown Royal in celebrating 75 years of crafting extraordinary whisky, the brand reminds them to please drink responsibly.

imageCHICAGO, June 5, 2014 -- With Father's Day around the corner, whiskey could easily top the list as consumers search for the perfect gift for Dad.  Technomic is tracking ongoing growth in whiskey – particularly American and Irish selections – and whiskey continues to significantly outperform not only the spirits industry, but also the wine and beer industries in 2014. The popularity of the spirit as part of Father's Day traditions will undoubtedly add to its upward sales and volume trajectory.

"Consumers are clamoring for whiskey, and Father's Day will likely see some people toasting dear old Dad with whiskey at a dinner out or poolside barbecue, while others will present him with a gift of the quintessential American spirit," says Donna Hood Crecca, Senior Director at Technomic. "Product innovation in whiskey is ongoing, and Father's Day is an excellent opportunity to introduce Dads around the country to a new brand or a new expression of a long-time favorite."

Laphroaig® Single Malt Scotch Whisky Welcomes All Opinions

image

DEERFIELD, IL - Laphroaig®, the world's #1 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, is unveiling its new global advertising and digital campaign featuring candid, real-life opinions of Laphroaig® from some of the brands biggest fans. The idea behind "#OpinionsWelcome" is to inspire whisky drinkers to share their own personal Laphroaig® "tasting notes" by showcasing the often offbeat and unique descriptions that members of Friends of Laphroaig®, the brand's distinguished loyalty group, have provided over the years, as well as first-time Laphroaig drinkers. By commemorating the passion of an enlightened few, Laphroaig® hopes to intrigue those who are unfamiliar with, but interested in trying it for the first time.

With authentic descriptions like, "Smells like medicine. Tastes like soil. My whisky of choice," and "Salt, peat, smoke, iodine and seaweed. My friend the oceanographer said it tasted 'like dead fish' I was hooked," the campaign will be brought to life through print and digital ads, as well as video content.

"Laphroaig® has long been a brand that elicited diverse and strong opinions from those who taste it, and the quotes we've selected to showcase at the launch of the campaign honor our long time friends and represent their affinity for Laphroaig®," said John Campbell, Laphroaig® Master Distiller. "These authentic reactions will entice those unfamiliar with the whisky and inspire them to share their own opinions of Laphroaig®."

At the heart of the campaign is a microsite www.Laphroaig.com/Opinions which will act as the central hub for the public to submit their own opinions of Laphroaig®. In addition to showcasing the content online, some of the newly generated opinions will be selected and used within future advertisements and as brand content in the Laphroaig® social media channels. To further inspire intrigue, a series of viral videos titled,#OpinionsWelcome, will feature various people tasting Laphroaig® and openly sharing their tasting experience with the liquid -- whether positive or negative. The videos will premiere throughout 2014 and can be viewed at www.Laphroaig.com/Opinions and athttp://www.YouTube.com.

Fans are encouraged to join the discussion and share their opinions by using the hashtag #OpinionsWelcome on Facebook and Twitter.
